Good fielding & power hitting were displayed against the Cubs. Adrian Balkom, Alessandro Gullo and Michael Morrone played a strong first base. Kevin Griffin & Kevin Walsh covered the hot corner

well. John Viantis despite a bloody nose showed off his speed running the bases! Paulie DePaulis & Cenzo Montoni had base clearing hits to power the Dodgers. Jubin Matthew & Devon Roth were heads up playing the outfield

Merillon's 55th Annual Opening Day Parade was a grand success. The Dodgers marched without any signs of fatigue. Kevin Griffin, Adrian Balkcom, Mathew Jubin, Michael Morrone, Paul Depaulis,

Alessandro Gullo, Christian Sollecito, Gianni D'Arduini, John Viantis and Cenzo Montoni had a great time holding the banner and giving three cheers to our sponsor Gino's Pizzeria.

The Bagel's N A Whole Lot More "Wildcats"

Vs. Dr. Zadnik, DDS "Heat"

The bats were smoking again for both teams. Isabella Fazzolari led the team with 4 hits, while Lauren Wasserman, Hannah Kareff, Katie DeMeo, Daniella Connor, Camryn Dluglinski and Kasey Borduas all had 3 hits a piece. Christina Bennett and Alanna Moran each had 2 hits and scored 2

runs. Kristina Horan had a big hit and made a nice fielding play at second base. Michaela Zabicki had 4 hits and made 3 put outs at third base. Joanna Mauceri had 2 nice hits and made a good play at the plate.

Margaret Zadnik DDS "Heat" Vs. Hillside Beverage "Racers"

The Heat girls continued to show great improvement on the field and at bat during their game against a formidable Racer team. The outstanding defensive play of Camryn Finkel, Sophia Leeds, and Justine Kraus kept the runs down and got us out of some tight spots. Jackie Courtesis had

a great day at the plate with 4 hits, 2 RBI's and 3 runs. Emily Budhram with 5 hits, she also came across the plate with 4 runs scored. Giavanna Maniaci and Nadia Bari each had 1 RBI and 2 Runs. Lauren Vicente took her time at the plate and came through with a nice line drive and a RBI. Emma Quinn crushed the ball for 2 hits and 2 runs. Also, having great success at the plate with their powerful hitting, were Justine K. with 5 hits, 4RBI's, Sophia L. 3 hits, 4 RBI's, & Camryn F. with 5 hits and 2 RBI's.

Knights of Columbus #2852 "Dragons" Vs. Mineola "Mustangs"

The Dragons had fire coming out of there mouths on this win over the tough Mineola Mustangs 16-10. The shining star of the game was Allison Schillinger with booming home run to left center. Also with outstanding performances were Josette Molina with key double and Elizabeth Hessler with a number of nice hits. The Dragons are on the prowl.

April 14

Knights of Columbus #2852 "Dragons" Vs. Mineola "Jaguars"

The Dragons had another superb performance and squeaked out another win 5-4 over the Mineola Jaguars. My best performance honors go to Christina Formica with a sensational hit to break the tie and give us the win. Kristen Renta was great in the field keeping the tough Mineola team from

scoring. Nicole Kuzler was also instrumental in keeping the Mineola team from scoring with her skills with the leather.

April 21

Knights of Columbus #2852 "Dragons" Vs. TNT Liquidators

This was a sad day for the Dragons which succumbed to defeat 16-8. We did have some good moments from Abigail Sollecito with going 2-3 and trying her hardest all game. Sabrina Balducci was also great at the plate going 1-1 with 2 walks. The Dragons will be ready for the next game.

NHP Elks Club "Braves" Vs. First Med Urgent Medical "Twins"

Leadoff man Jake Blancher and the speedy Raymond Gresalfi were catalysts with 3 hits each. Julian Montenegro and Peter Carreca slammed 2 of the hardest hit balls of the day and Sam Ugolini hit a hard line drive in the 4th inning. Derek Coval and Brian O'Regan also showed off their power. The

Braves impressed with their game sense in the field. Eric Madenberg had unassisted put outs at various positions. Elliot Weissman and Phillip Menist each did the same on hard grounders to first base. Dylan Kareff and Ryan Cooney also made multiple stellar plays in the field.

April 23

New Hyde Park Elks "Twins"

Vs. Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees"

The sun was shining down on the Twins as they fought a great offensive battle against the Yankees at Wednesday night's game. Mike Smith and Darryl Moon showed their strength with big hits into the outfield, while Anthony Driscoll and Kenny Gensch showed their outstanding fielding skills.

Christian Ugolini hustled as catcher, while the entire team worked together with high energy and enthusiasm.

The Fundamentals of Baseball "Twins" vs The NHP Elks "Yankees"

The hits just kept on coming down at the yard this week for the Yankees. This weeks Slugger awards go to C. Carbone,CJ Riccobono,F Stigliano, L Tessoriero, L Montalbano and M O'Neill. The gold

glove awards go to F.Stigliano , C Carbone, M O'Neill and CJ Riccobono. At the end of the day the score was tied.

April 25

NHP Kiwanis Club "Mets" Vs First Med Urgent Medical "Braves"

The Mets continued their fine play with John Napolitano, Nicholas Ryan, Christopher Bruccoleri snd Herbie Hagemann all going 4 for 4. Matthew Rivera scored three runs and Nicholas Rakamaric pitched in with 2 hits of his own. Tyler Dauble went 3 for 4 scoring a pair of runs as did Scott

Schanter. Nicholas Lopez made 2 nice tag plays on runners tried to score and Joseph Griffin caught a fly ball and tagged another runner for a double play.

First Med Urgent Medical "Braves"

Vs. New Hyde Park Kiwanis "Mets"

Elliot Weissman and Julian Montenegro showed good versatility, with solid hits and plays in the field. Brian O'Regan and Ryan Cooney pounded multiple hits to power the offense. Raymond Grisalfi continued to be a spark plug, with some hard singles and another sprint to home, barely beating out a bang-bang play at the plate. Peter Carreca showed great range at shortstop had

multiple good defensive plays and showed a powerful swing. Dylan Kareff made a nice backhanded play on a grounder to first base and launched a shot to the outfield. Philip Menist continued his fine play, following a rip up the middle in the bottom of the third with a nice defensive play in the top of the fourth.

First Med Urgent Medical Braves Vs. Grant Thornton Dodgers

The Braves finished the weekend with a strong effort against the visiting Dodgers. The gloves continue to shine. Ryan Cooney had incredible catches at both 3rd base and home plate, while Peter Carecca made a highlight reel unassisted play at first. Raymond Gresalfi had a smooth put out at

second base, and Julian Montenegro turned in a strong inning on the mound. At the plate Jake Blancher, Eric Madenberg, Brian O'Regan, and Sam Ugolini collected 3 hits each. Dylan Kareff showed his power, including a liner up the middle that shook up dad/coach Scott! Elliot Weissman and Derek Coval added key base hits and RBIs.

Stutzmann Funeral Home "Cardinals"

Vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Marlins"

The Cardinals took the early lead highlighted by a Brendan Quinn HR. Anthony Pitre got out of several jams on the mound early in the game and kept the Marlins off the scoreboard. Anthony Verde, Tommy Murphy and Nicolas Mangia finished out the pitching as the Cardinals held off a late

surge by the gritty Marlins. Ishan Handa, James Reo, Louis Mangia, Chris Vietri, Jesse Romano, George Saketos and James Treadwell each had an RBI.

Sperry Associates "Angels" Vs. Skanska USA Building "Brewers"

The Angels mounted an amazing 8 run comeback to tie this game in the last inning. The Denara brothers were on fire today with John smashing a triple to deep right-center, followed by Jimmy crushing a double in the same inning to clear the bases. Joining in the hit parade were Rasul Rahman with a single and a double and David West with a single. Jake Secker pitched another scoreless inning striking out 2, with Alessandro Drudi, Nick Mrakovcic, James Castaldi and Brian Park providing strong defense in the field. Defensive gems came at second base with Michael Zuschlag scooping up a hot grounder, tagging a runner and throwing to first for a double play, and Tyler Baron making a nifty put-out to end a rally. With the Angels short on catchers, Adam Krieger admirably volunteered to put on the gear and did a fine job behind the plate.

April 22

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Marlins"

Vs J&K Electrical Contracting Corp "Rockies"

The Marlins were very strong in the field. Jason Seidman was behind the plate directing pitchers Anthony Carbone, Chris Valentine and Nick Favale. Mike Tesely played a strong first base scooping out throws from the dirt. There were 2 plays in the field that stood out. The first one at 2nd

base with Eric Gonzales grabbing a line shot saving a couple of runs, and the second at short with Nick Favale made a unassisted double play to stop the hard hitting Rockies. The Marlin bats were on fire. Matt O'Connor, Ryan O'Hare, Gable Rodriguez and Matt Ferrante all got some hits.

Vs J&K Electrical Contracting Corp "Rockies"

The Rockies hung tough tight led by the strong pitching of Vincent Rossello and the clutch hitting of Armand Baklajian. The other pitchers were Andrew Filacoma, Will Athenas and Matthew Fitzgerald. The Rocks hit some good shots but the Marlins D was tough! Jibron Gilani and Gregory Donovan each had one hit and were robbed of another. Jacob Leeds, Anthony Bartlotta and Daniel Kim each chipped in with a walk.

April 24

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. Sperry Associates "Angels"

In an exciting game at Tully field, the Diamondbacks rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to defeat the pesky Angels. After squandering a 5 run lead in the top of the 6th, the Diamondbacks were down to their last out with no one on base, when the rally commenced with a single by Jacob Seidenberg, who promptly stole second base and then scored the tying run on a hard-hit double by Brian Volk. After a stolen base and a walk, Greg Haynes knocked in the winning run with a smash to left field. Other hitting stars for the game included Jacob Portnoy and Jack Belmonte. Strong defense was played by Ben Newman and Kevin Peteroy, who made his debut behind the plate. Excellent pitching performances were turned in by Jack Belmonte, Brian Volk, Blake Cohen (with a scoreless inning), Greg Haynes (2 scoreless innings) and Jacob Seidenberg. Special thanks to our fill-ins, Matt Portnoy who was alert and busy in the outfield, and Elliot Weissman, who worked a walk, stole a base and scored a run.

The Rockies marched proudly Saturday led by rookie stand-outs Daniel Kim, Matthew Fitzgerald & Jibron Gilani, and their veteran sporting a shiner Gregory Donovan.

Dr. Margaret Zadnik DDS, PC "Blue Jays"

Vs. Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Pirates"

The Blue Jays continued with their hot bats pounding out 14 hits. The offense was led by Nick Winkhart who hit a Grand Slam, it earned him the game ball. Harrison Dvoor and Justin Roth both tripled and Andrew Cursio, Daniel Hodes, and Mike Carbone all had hits. Jake Rahner, James

Cotumaccio, Slater Dvoor and Griffin Anwar all anchored the defense. Andrew Tse and Justin Roth both made their pitching debuts and held the mighty Pirate bats. Colton Schnall and Frankie Saladino handled the pitching staff from behind the plate. The Blue Jays are looking forward to the Parade and a day of rest.

April 23

New Hyde Park Funeral Home "Red Sox" vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles won against a good Red Sox team with a score of 8 - 4. Good pitching from Justin DiDonato and James Messina helped keep the score at bay. Great fielding plays by Jarrett Greben, Ethan Volk, David Lapidus and Justin DiDonato. The Orioles hitting contributions came from Jarrett Greben with a HR and a triple, Mike Sitzer with a triple and a single, Ethan Volk with a double and Nick Miceli with a single. James Messina had a single and several stolen bases. Great thanks to our call ups, Brian Volk, Christian Carrick & Greg Haynes who had 2 singles.

April 27

Dr. Zadnik DDS, PC "Blue Jays" Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Devil Ray

The Blue Jays were flawless in the field led by the defensive play of Andrew Tse, Jake Raher, James Cotumaccio, Adwar Griffin and Justin Roth. The pitching was solid from starter Andrew Cursio, to relievers, Mike Carbone, and Daniel Hodes. Then the closer was Nick Winkhart, who pitched great. But the star of the game was Colton Schnall who had 3 hits, 1 being a Grand Slam, which earned him the game ball.

F & F Roofing "Orioles" vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Mariners"

The Orioles lost to the Mariners by a score of 11 - 2. Good pitching efforts came from Brian Haug, Ethan Volk, David Lapidus, Jarrett Greben and James Messina. The Orioles bats were quiet against the good Mariners pitching, but we did get singles from James Messina and Gavin Schwartz who was awesome behind the plate again. Even though the score does not reflect it, there were exciting plays from Gavin Schwartz who teamed up with James Messina at second and Justin DiDonato at third. We also had good team efforts from David Goodman and Zachary Leventhal. Thank you to Brian Volk and Thomas Messina, our call ups

City Line Florist Ducks 1 - J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. Pride 4

Super effort by all the Ducks in a 4-1 defeat to a talented Pride team. The Pride pitching was on its game today, stifling the Ducks offense. The Ducks did break through in the fifth inning when Brandon Martinez smacked a solo homer to right to get the team its only run. The Ducks threatened

a couple times, loading the bases twice to no avail. The defense showed their leather today, making a fine play gunning out a runner at the plate and nearly getting another. All the Ducks - Michael Barry, Peter Ferrante, Brandon Martinez, Brad Rutkin, Evan Clark, Brennan Scanlon, Ryan Marder, Travis Finkel, Mitchell Schwartz, & Chris Ferlazzo - gave it their all while having a great time

J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. Pride 4 Vs. City Line Florist Ducks

The Pride is back on track by playing .500 ball over the last couple of weeks. Danny Luchino and Tyler Carrick are pitching at mid season form with pinpoint accuracy and velocity. The two backstops have been Joey Richards and Ryan Gaitan who have been the full compliment to their teammates. Also pitching in on the mound are Dylan Forrester and Frank DiSanto who look like Joba and Mariano coming out of the bullpen. Flashing some leather on the field are Sam Weinbaum, Thomas Kelly, Anthony D'Ammassa, and Joe DiMonte. Ben Lee and Chris Cataldo continue their

hitting streaks with aggressive swinging and smart at bats.

April 24

Wilson Elser "Express" 15 Vs. Williston Park 5

The pitching was outstanding! Andrew Pugliese went 4 innings and Steven Filicoma went 2 innings. The defense was great too! Aaron Brenner called a great game behind the plate, Brendon Lum, Matt Hirshon, Alex Montalvo and Hansel Pachero covered the infield. Covering the vast outfield with speed and strong arms were Vinny Labruna in left, Joe Carbone in center, and Domenick and Domineco Fazzolari in right. The Express batters were patient drawing walks and got timely hits to secure the victory.
