Come and join us in the Celebration of Merillon's 57th year!

On April 26th Merillon will be holding its annual Parade Day Ceremonies to celebrate its 57th year of providing softball & baseball for the children of our community.

The parade will step off at Manor Oaks School at approximately 10 a.m.

and proceed west to New Hyde Park Road, turn right and head north on New Hyde Park Road and to turn left and head west on Marcus Avenue directly to Merillon Park.

All Merillon Coaches and Players (In uniforms Please) and are to report to the Manors Oaks School Parking lot no later than 9:45 a.m. All are invited to celebrate another successful season of baseball and softball for the youth in the community.

April 19

First Med Urgent Medical "Cubs" Vs. Gino's Pizzeria and Restaurant of New Hyde Park "Dodgers"

After the vigorous beginning drills the Cubs took there new skills and were ready for their game. Some great swings and hard hits in the first inning were made by Cole Someck, Anthony Stigliano, Phillip Schurr, and Colin Lowey. After all the boys successfully reached home plate they took the field. The Cubs had some great defensive fielding plays by Christopher Mustakis- Giudice, Aaron Canese and Sam Silberg.

Grant Thornton LLP "Mets" Vs. NHP Funeral Home "Reds"

The Mets put together another stellar performance lead by the strong hitting of Arnav Handa, Hans DeWitte and Matthew Baronci. Ryan Gonzalez and Jonathon Leung were superb on defense, both displaying gold glove potential. The Mets received another strong effort from Stephen DeRocchis, both providing clutch hitting and smart base running. The entire team played solid defensively.

April 18

Margaret Zadnik DDS "Heat" Vs. Mineola "Lightning"

Opening day for the Heat was a "hit" parade, with all the girls having many hits. Defensive standouts were Camryn Finkel, Maria Pesiri, and Sophia Leeds, with multiple putouts. Emma Quinn, Jackie Courtesis, Lauren Vicente, Camryn F., Krysta Sollecito, and Stephanie Zovich all took turns in the tough catching position and did a fine job. Speedy Gia Maniaci, Nadia Bari, Justine Kraus, and Elise Gonzalez showed good hustle on the base paths. It was a high scoring game with lots of great offense and defense on both sides.

April 19

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Wildcats" Vs. Glen Oaks "Mariners"

The Wildcats came out hitting with Una Reid, Michaela Zabicki, and Katie DeMeo getting four hits a piece. Isabella Fazzolari caught for 3 innings and scored three runs. Lauren Wasserman, Alana Moran, Kristina Horan, Daniella Connor and Joanna Mauceri all had big hits in the game. Camryn Dluglinski looks sharp playing 3rd base and had key base hits. Hannah Kareff had three hits and looks real smooth playing the field.

April 20

Margaret Zadnik DDS "Heat" Vs. Glen Oaks "Mariners"

The Heat bats were on fire. Emma Quinn had the hit of the game with a rocket shot just missing the outfield. Sophia Leeds was outstanding in the field with her heads up defense and at bat with some scorching line drives. Elise Gonzalez, Justine Kraus, Krysta Sollecito, and Gia Maniaci each had multiple hits and runs. Jackie Courtesis used her lightning speed to beat out plays and score runs. Maria Pesiri showed some nice defensive plays while on the field.

April 6

Stutzman Funeral Home "Dragons" Vs. "Roadsters"

The Dragons came out breathing fire on this cold afternoon and were victorious against a tough Roadsters team. We had a shining star for the game and she was Brianna Patrizi with 3 strong innings of pitching and solid hitting. Katelyn Booth and Christine Vissichelli closed out the game with good pitching for a victory for the Dragons

April 19

HBQVB TNT Liquidators v. Wilson, Elser "Thunder"

The Thunder won their home opener against a young HBQVB squad. Carolyn DiMaria, in her pitching debut, was awesome with 8 k's through 3. The Thunder showed patience at the plate, racking up 14 walks. Megan Adams, Monica Mattei and Hannah Meyer crossed the plate 3 times each. Caitlin Mahon doubled with bases loaded to drive in 2 runs. Nicole Kaiser and Victoria Pilosi both walked twice and scored. Tough catching duties behind the plate were handled by Monica Mattei, Ally Barilli and Theresa Mattei. Defensive gem of the game was a heads-up play by Nicole Rossello and Carolyn DiMaria to get the runner at first.

April 13

The Baxter's Sport Shop "Cubs" Vs. State Bank of Long Island "Nationals"

The Cubs offense seemed unstoppable with strong early season batting performances by Nicholas Moustakis-Goudis, Matthew Soloman, and a crushing double by George Vlantis. The Cubs appeared in mid-season form with great defensive plays by Harrison Nettler at first base and pop-up fly catches by Adam Sperling & Sean Fishbein. Jordan Seidenberg made an impressive rookie debut making the move up from the instructional league with solid hitting and base running.

T F O'Brien "Athletics" Vs. Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees"

The Athletics defense was spectacular for the entire ball game which helped keep the Yankees offense at bay. The Athletics offense was lead by the impressive hitting of Sean McClellan, Joe Dampman, Andrew Cagner and capped off by a thunderous two run double by Alex Russo.

April 16

First Med Urgent Medical "Braves" Vs. Fundamentals of Ball "Yankees"

The early season hit parade resumed, lead by Ryan Cooney with 3 hard line drives. Julian Montenegro and Philip Menist continued to power the offense with 2 RBIs & Sam Ugolini added another. On defense the standout was Dylan Kareff, with 2 absolute gems at first base and one at third. Peter Carreca and Elliot Weissman were also solid at multiple positions. Jake Blancher continued to anchor the catching core, with Derek Coval and Brian O'Regan also calling strong innings. The Braves are proving to be a hard-nosed club on the base paths. Raymond Grisalfi electrified the crowd with his dash to home plate in the 4th inning. Earlier in the game, Eric Madenberg made a great slide to avoid a tag at third base. Most importantly, team spirit was alive with great cheering from the bench throughout the game.

April 18

NHP Kiwanis Club "Mets" Vs State Bank of LI "Nationals"

The Mets offense broke out this week with Matthew Rivera scoring 3 runs while Herbie Hagemann, Tyler Dauble and Scott Schanter each scored 2. Nichloas Capelle and Joseph Griffin each went 3 for 3 and John Napolitano has 2 opposite field hits into the outfield. On the defensive side we had a stellar evening too. Christopher Bruccoleri and Nicholas Ryan each caught 2 innings behind the plate. Nicholas Lopez flashed some leather at shortstop while the play of the game was Alex Lacerra catching a pop fly which was converted into a triple play.

April 15

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Indians"

Strong defense was turned in by Jordan Greiff (with an unassisted double play), Corey Rutkin, Kevin Peteroy, Jacob Portnoy, Jack Tucker, Jack Belmonte, Blake Cohen and Ben Newman. Clutch hitting came from the bats of Greg Haynes and Jacob Seidenberg. Solid pitching kept the mighty Indians at bay, and it was turned in by Jordan Greiff, Brian Volk, Jacob Seidenberg and Greg Haynes.

JNR Electrical "Rockies" Vs. Dominick's Deli "Giants"

Anthony Bartlotta kept the Rockies in this game with a strong inning of pitching and a hard hit. The other pitchers were Kyle Berlinsky, Matt Fitzgerald and Will Athenas, all doing a good job. The bats are coming alive as Vincent Rossello, Jibron Gilani, Gregory Donovan, Harry Schildkraut & Lucas Cowen all had hits. Andrew Filacoma, Daniel Kim and Jacob Leeds all got on with a walk and Armond Baklajan hit the ball hard but to no avail.

April 17

Sperry Associates Angels v. BAB Mechanical Rangers Great pitching and stellar defense were the key factors for the Angels in their second victory of the season. Jake Secker continued his scoreless innings pitched streak and James Castaldi pitched a lights-out 1-2-3 last inning to save the game. Flashing leather in the field were David West who snared line-outs at first base and third base, Michael Zuschlag who made two put-outs at second base and Michael Lynch behind the plate. Tyler Baron, John Denara, Adam Krieger and Alessandro Drudi also provided solid defense in the field. Helping with their bats were Jimmy Denara who got the game started with a single and a run scored, Rasul Rahman who belted a single to drive in a run and Nick Mrakovcic who smashed a single and a double to bring in two runs.

April 19

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. Virgilio Chiropractic "Phillies"The Diamondbacks secured a 13-10 win on Saturday in a tough game against the fantastic Phillies. Hitting stars of the day were Ben Newman (smash triple), Brian Volk (RBI double), Jordan Greiff and Greg Haynes (triple, HR, 7 RBIs). The win was secured thanks to outstanding defense turned in by Jack Tucker (with a great relay throw from the OF in the last inning), Kevin Peteroy, Jacob Portnoy, Jacob Seidenberg (started a double play with a great catch at short and a strong throw to first) and Jack Belmonte (behind the plate). Outstanding pitching performances were delivered by Jack Belmonte, Blake Cohen (2 strong innings), Jacob Seidenberg and Greg Haynes.

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Marlins" Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Cardinals"

The Marlin pitchers, Anthony Carbone , Matt O'Connor, Harris Monoson and Chris Valentine tried to keep the hard hitting Cardinals at bay. Eric Gonzales and Jason Seidmanl were solid behind the plate. Nice hitting by Andrew Kadish, Anthony Carbone, Harris Monoson, Matt Ferrante and Matt O'Connor. In the bottom of the 6th with a man on, Matt O'Connor hit a shot over the left fielders head for a 2 run HR.

Dominick's Deli "Giants" Vs. BAB Mechanical "Rangers"

The Giants and the Rangers had a hard fought baseball game which came down to the final at bat. The Giants kept the Rangers at bay with great pitching from Josh Putter, Cameron Pon, & Peter Restivo. The runs came in bunches by the hot bats of Michael Feinsilver, Aman Sawhney, Dominick Patrizi, Anthony Depompeis, and Daniel Kosofsky. The Giants were always in the game with the great defense of Christopher Cavolo, Steven Casio and Simar Sawhney.

Vs. Gigi Italian Restaurant "Mariners"

This was a great game of extra inning baseball, which was enjoyed by all who watched. It was a pitchers duel from start to finish. Nick Winkhart started the game strong, Daniel Hodes & Mike Carbone both held the Mariners scoreless. The Blue Jays outfield; which consists of Jake Raher, Slater Dvoor & Anwar Griffin all made key plays. Anwar Griifin fired a relay throw to Andrew Cursio who threw sharply to Harrison Dvoor at third for a very important out. Catcher Colton Schnall who has anchored this pitching staff, hit a triple and threw out a base runner in extra inning to hold the game to a tie. The bottom of the 7th inning was led off by Mike Carbone who walked, Justin Roth then laid down a perfect bunt and beat the throw. Frankie Saladino then came up to the plate and delivered the game winning hit to right field, he was awarded the game ball.

April 16

F & F Roofing "Orioles" vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Devil Rays"The Orioles won against a good Devil Rays team with a score of 10 - 3. There were 11 strikeouts between the great pitching of James Messina and Justin DiDonato. The Orioles bats were also very much alive with an awesome 3 run HR from Brian Haug, a triple from James Messina and singles from Nick Miceli, Davis Lapidus, Mike Sitzer & Ethan Volk. Walks and stolen bases by Jarrett Greben, Zachary Leventhal & Gavin Schwartz also contributed to the Orioles score. On defense, Nick Miceli's good play at first and David Goodman's great catch in the outfield really kept the team's momentum going. Eric Rennie and Nick Zovich also gave a good effort in the field.

April 20

Vs Mike's N.H.P. Convenience Store "Pirates"

The boys had a rough night on Friday. Jack Kimmel, David Kimmel, Matt Bateman, Gary Haung and Landon Phillips pitched their hearts out. There were some good plays on the field made by Sean Moran and Zack Shavolian. Jo-Jo Del Giorno, Antonio Prunella and Adeel Bari hit the ball hard every time up, but it was at someone.

April 10

Dennett Law Offices "Bears" 7 Vs. City Line Florist "Ducks" 5

Jonathan Cioffi, John Leva, Liam Slattery, Kyle Facibene, Austin Ward and Nick Perrone were the Bears pitchers. Matt Dluginski did a great job behind the plate framing pitches and keeping the ball in front of him. The game went back and forth until the Bears bats got hot. Austin's bat was smoking the ball. He had several hits. Nick had a HR in the game. The defense played terrific. Cooper Spector-Salwen, Joseph Pagan and Mark Thomas kept the Bears in the game with the defensive effort.

April 17

City Line Florist "Ducks" 8 Vs. Ace Hardware "Cyclones"

Great effort was turned in by all the Ducks in a 10-8 defeat to a strong Cyclones squad. The Ducks offense was led by Brandon Martinez, who drove in a run with a single and later smacked a 3 HR. Brennan Scanlon got the hit of the night when he laced a triple off the fence in left to drive in a run. Ryan Marder rapped a double to right to drive in 2 more Ducks and he also walked twice. Chris Ferlazzo singled, walked, stole 3 bases and scored twice. Mitchell Schwartz walked and stole a base. Travis Finkel singled twice, got beaned, and stole 4 bases. Evan Clark walked 3 times and scored a run. Peter Ferrante, walked, singled and scored. Andrew Korpacz and Brad Rutkin each worked out a walk and Michael Barry took some good swings today. April 19

City Line Florist Ducks 10 - Dennett Law Offices Bears 4

The high flying Ducks continued their fine play, defeating a strong Bears team 10-4. Timely hitting, excellent defense and superb pitching were the keys to today's win. Pitchers Brennan Scanlon, Brad Rutkin, and Travis Finkel were on their game, striking out a combined eight Bears hitters. The Ducks offense was led by Ryan Marder's mammoth 2 run HR in the fourth inning. Chris Ferlazzo doubled twice, singled and scored 2 runs. Brett Alper walked, singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Travis Finkel singled twice, reached on a fielder's choice, scored 3 times, stole a base and drove in a run. Brennan Scanlon singled twice and scored. Evan Clark walked, singled, had 2 rbi, and scored. Michael Barry singled, walked, drove in a run and made some pretty plays at second base. Brandon Martinez singled, stole 2 bases, and played 2 great innings behind the plate. Brad Rutkin singled, walked, drove in 2 and started a nifty double play to end a Bears threat. Mitchell Schwartz walked and smacked a long triple. Peter Ferrante got on when the catcher interfered and made a couple pretty plays at second. Andrew Korpacz took some nice swings today.

Dennett Law Offices "Bears" 4 Vs. City Line Florist "Ducks" 9

The Bears started out slow. Austin Ward and Liam Slattery pitched a few innings and came up with some hits & it took to the top of the 6th inning to get a rally started. Kurt Skudrna's bat was on fire this game with several hits. Jonathan Cioffi pitched an inning and smashed a ball to left field to knock in some runs. Matt Dluginski and Joe Pagan did a solid job keeping the pitchers calm and the runners from advancing. John Leva pitched and caught a few innings. Jake Grusd and Matt Kipnis played infield and outfield for the bears. Mark Thomas played several defensive positions and put the ball in play with all his at bats. The players never gave up during the game which shows what type of team the Bears are.

J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride" 8 Vs. Ace Hardware "Cyclones" 2

After starting the season 0-5, the Pride got off the schnide with a win over the Cyclones backed by superb pitching by Tyler Carrick and Danny Luchino. Between the two of them they struck out 15 batters with blistering fastballs and off speed pitches. Behind the plate were Ryan Gaitan and Joey Richards who framed strikes, blocked breaking balls in the dirt, and kept the runners in check to compliment their teammates' performance. Dylan Forrester, Frankie DiSanto, and Anthony D'Ammassa have been flawless on the field, while Chris Cataldo, Thomas Kelly, Joe DiMonte, and Sam Weinbaum have continued their hitting streaks.
