A gorgeous day saw the largest turnout for our TOPSoccer program in quite a while. We had to run three games simultaneously to accommodate all the athletes with the Wildcats' red, white and blue evident all over Center Street. The junior match had so many goals, it was difficult to identify all the scorers. The intermediate game was a closely played contest, which ended in a 3-2 squeaker. Emily Bosco scored twice for the blue team and Nick DiSalvio added one more. Constantine Lascarides answered with 2 goals for the red team but time just ran out before they could have a chance for tie the match. The seniors played a scrimmage against the coaches and demonstrated their superior skills with a 5-2 thumping. Andrew Abberton scored twice while Matt Saraiva, Billy Russo and Mike Raihl managed one each. Many thanks to our great coaches for keeping the program going. Krys, Jessica, Katerina, Brianna, Danny, Jenny, Stephanie, Nicole and Kelcey - you guys 'rock'! And to the senior coaches - Greg, Kerri, Matt, Rich B., Rich H. (don't recall a referee getting shown a card, even if it was an AAA card), Mary Jo and Brian - you're the rocks that hold the program together. Many thanks to all! Rich Bletsch, Director

April 6th Game: Stickers vs. Firecrackers - The cold and wind didn't stop the Firecrackers from playing a great game on Sunday. It was an exciting game to watch. Logan

Ward, Anika Mathai, Cayla Mikowski, and Emily Gaviria played a great offensive game. Lauren Wasserman, Aria Nair, and Kaitlyn Stoyer played excellent defense. Everyone put their best foot forward defending the net and getting the ball back up to their offensive teammates. Excellent goalkeeping by Andrea Waldron.

Logan Ward did a great job scoring 5 goals with assists from her defense. The Strikers played just as hard. Congratulations to both teams! Kitty Kats VS Firecrackers - It was another exciting game for the Firecrackers. This week the girls were matched up against the tough Kitty Kats, which worked very hard throughout the game to try to shut down our offense. But our offense was working just as hard. Logan Ward, Anika Mathai, Cayla Mikowski, Kayla Foseback and Emily Gaviria did their thing and managed to score a few goals. Lauren Wasserman and Kaitlyn Stoyer played stellar defense. As usual, it was another excellent showing by our goal keeper Andrea Waldron.

4/13 - Cubs 1 vs FireCats 2 - The Cubs took on a very exciting Firecats team and did their very best but came up short today. The Cubs goalie was Camryn Dluginski in the first half who hasn't played much between the poles in a while and was showing very little rust at the position making several nice save for the Cubs. But the FireCats offense was powered by Theodora Papadoniou with two goals in the first half one over the head of Camryn and the second a hard shot into the corner of the net. Great effort Camryn nothing you can do about those shots. The Cubs defense was hard at work with Kathleen Toscano, Emma Laskowski, Emily Price, and Olivia Baez doing all they can in the first half to stop the FireCats attack. In the second half miss reliable Marissa Cronin was put into goal and was up for the challenge all over the floor making some good saves for the Cubs shutting out the FireCats for the rest of the half. Good job Marissa way to step up for the team. The Cubs goal came in the second half with a nice lead pass by Olivia Baez over the heads of everyone to Siobhan Mcmullen, Siobhan new what to do this time as she drove down the field and blasted a goal passed the Firecats goalie. The Cubs had offensive support from Olivia Lugo and Alyssa Macher. It was without question the improved aggressive player in the second half was Julia Gordon playing very strong defensively breaking up several of the Firecats drive and staying with the ball and clearing several passes to her forward to help out her team. The Cubs missed the help of Anooja John and Isabella Hernandez.

Kimberly Keblish once again took the lead as our center defender holding the fort. Danielle Gerbe and Aoife Fitzgerald turned away many runs on defense as our full backs. Margaret Donnelly made a couple of great runs toward the goal as our forward. Great Job!

Tigers vs. Lightning - The clouds were overhead all day but the rain never came as the Tigers and Lightning took to the field. What a game these kids put on for all that came out to cheer them on. The Tigers were scratching and clawing all game as Peter Siozos finally got them on the board with a beautiful left footed shot. The Tiger defense was amazing all day giving great support to their goalies Joseph Sullivan and Peter Siozos. Steven DeVerteuil played his usual solid defense with help from Kevin Fox and Maxwell Giuliano. James Connolly showed great hustle as well as Lazar Markovic and Ronald Chirinos. Dillon Langner and Christopher Kilcullen worked the ball well together on a drive that would end up being the game winner as Christopher Kilcullen found the back of the net one last time on a Lightning defense that was stingy all day. Thanks again to our great parents that continue to show great support. GO TIGERS!!!

DC United vs. Crew - What a great game played on both sides of the field by these two teams. D.C. United and Crew came out firing on all cylinders. D.C. United was led by Jose Marulanda on offense sending two balls to the back of the net in a game that went back and forth all game. Gautam Nayyar led United in goal the first half and had great support defensively from Brian Wu, Michael Lynch and Daniel Lee. John Kilcullen and Nevin Nambiar each accounted for a goal as Justin Carnero manned the goal for us in the second half. Justin was spectacular making numerous saves to keep us within 1 goal of tying this game up but a tough Crew team was very solid and held on for a 5-4 victory. Kyle Bangug continues to impress with his hard work and hustle. Keep up the level of energy you boys bring to the field each week and good thing will come.
