Hyde Park Funeral Home "Reds" Vs. First Med Urgent Medical "Cubs"

On the time honored Merillon Picture Day, the Fabulous Reds did it again! The Reds were balanced by the hitting, fielding and speed of the entire team. Led by the batting exploits of Joanna Vissichelli, Lauren Valencia, Katherine Fitzgerald and Lyndsay Lapidus, the Cubs faced all they could handle. The defensive play of Anjali Rampersaud, Claire O'Regan, Alessia LaSala and Brianna Kerrane showed the team how to scoop up the ball like "alligators" and throw to first base. The speedy Amanda Garcia and Lia DiMitri rounded the bases like the wind and scored runs each time they came to the plate.

Gino's Pizzeria Dodgers vs. J & K Electrical Contracting Yankees The Dodgers looked sharp posing for their team picture. That sharpness translated to the field when they took on the Yankees. This sentiment was echoed by our team sponsor Paul Depaulis, who stated, "The Dodgers are championship material ". Gianni D'Arduini, Kevin Walsh, Michael Morrone, John Viantis, Devon Roth, Kevin Griffin, Paul Depaulis, Alessandro Gullo Christian Sollecito, Adrian Balkom, Jubin Mathew, and Vincenzo Montoni all played fantastic and had a great time playing the Yankees.

The Mets put together another stellar performance lead by the strong hitting of Ryan Gonzalez, Jonathon Leung & Arnav Handa. Hans DeWitt and Matthew Baronci were superb on defense, both displaying gold glove potential. The Mets received another strong effort from Justin Balwan and Stephen DeRocchis, both providing clutch hitting and smart baserunning. The entire team played solid defensively.

April 13

NHP Kiwanis Club Mets Vs Grant Thornton LP Dodgers The Mets offense started their first game with Matthew Rivera and Joseph Griffin each scoring 3 runs. John Napolitano and Nicholas Lopez each hit the ball hard into the outfield several times. Nicholas Rakamaric, Nicholas Cappelle and Christopher Bruccoleri each pitched in with a pair of singles. Scott Schanter Tyler Dauble each caught a few innings behind the plate and Nicholas Ryan put some time in at shortstop.

The Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees" Vs T.F. O'Brien "Athletics" The Yankees started there opening day with great enthusiasm and fun was had by all. The starting lineup included Christopher Carbone, Jacob Raphael, CJ Riccobono, Luke Tesoriero, Paul McTiernan, Sam Chiche, Bailey Lee, Christian Vincente, Frankie Stigliano, Matthew O'Neil, Lance Montalbano and Charlie Goodwin.

Cardinals 6 Vs. Marlins 4

The Cardinals continued their solid team play. After the marlins took an early lead Anthony Pitre & Anthony Verde came on to pitch 4 solid innings and help turn the game around. The offense exploded with back to back HRs by Brendan Quinn & Tommy Murphy. Jared Schwartz caught 2 solid innings and added a pair of hits. Nicolas Mangia made a sparkling grab and turned it into a double play. Solid team defensive contributions from Ishan Handa, Louis Mangia, James Reo, James Treadwell & Chris Vietri.

April 8

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. SKANSKA USA BUILDING "Brewers"

The Diamondbacks secured their second win of the season on Tuesday at Dietz Dairy against a feisty Brewers team. Clutch hitting and RBIs were turned in from Corey Rutkin (4 RBIs including a HR), Brian Volk, Jack Belmonte, Jordan Grieff and Greg Haynes. Strong defense was exhibited by Jacob Portnoy, Kevin Peteroy and Ben Newman. Jacob Seidenberg, Jack Tucker and Blake Cohen contributed stellar pitching performances to hold the potent Brewers in check.

April 10

Sperry Associates "Angels" Vs. Dominick's Deli "Giants"

The Giants were kept in the game by great pitching performances from Anthony Depompeis, Christopher Cavolo, and Michael Feinsilver. On the first 75 degree day of the year the Giants bats were extremely hot with hard hits from Peter Restivo, Daniel Kosofsky, Steven Casio, and a 3 run HR from Cameron Pon. Our pitchers were helped out by the strong defense of Jordan Lempert, Josh Putter, Gregory Capelle, and Dominick Patrizi.

Sperry Associates "Angels" Vs. Dominick's Deli "Giants"

The Angels notched their first win of the season led by the ferocious hitting of Tyler Baron (3-3) and 2 shutout innings pitched by Jake Secker. The Angels' hitting was contagious with Nick Mrakovcic belting 2 singles, John Denara sending a laser beam into the outfield for a hit and Michael Zuschlag getting a single of his own. Jimmy Denara and James Castaldi each pitched a solid inning, while Michael Lynch & David West kept the Giants' base runners honest behind the plate. Adam Krieger provided strong defense in the field and Alessandro Drudi stole his first base of the season.

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Marlins" Vs Virgilio Chiropractic "Phillies"

The Marlins played some good fundamental baseball against a tough Phillie team. The Marlins pitching, Harris Monoson, Anthony Carbone, Matt O'Connor and Nick Favale, kept the hard hitting Phillies for only one run. Our strong defense lead by Jason Seidman behind the plate , Nick Favle, Ryan O'hare, Chris Valentine in the infield and Andrew Kadish, Eric Gonzales, Anthony

Carbone. in the outfield made some big league plays. One of those plays was in top of the 6th, with a man on 3rd base, when the Phillies batter hit a shot over Anthony Carbone head in left field. Anthony caught up to the ball threw it to Nick Favle in turn he threw it to our catcher Eric

April 12

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Marlins" Vs Sperry Associates "Angels"

The Marlins came out today to play some baseball. Nick Favale, Chris Valentine, Anthony Carbone and our closer Harris Monoson all pitched against the hard hitting Angels. The Marlins made some heads up plays the field. Ryan O'Hare in center field ran down a fly ball and threw it to first

base for a double play. Our catcher Jason Seidman was directing the pitchers. In the infield, Gabriel Rodriguez, Mat Farrente Anthony Carbone and Chris Valentine played tough. Our out fielders Andrew Kadish, Nick Favale and Matt Farrante play well. In top of the 6th trailing by one run,

with bases loaded, Harris hits a shot to left field to clear the bases.

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. J & K Electrical Contracting "Rockies"

The Diamondbacks led the mighty Rockies 13-9 in the bottom of the 5th when the game was called due to lightning in the area. The potent Diamondbacks hitting attack was led by Jordan Greiff, Kevin Peteroy and Jack Belmonte, each with multiple RBIs. Outstanding defensive plays were turned in by Ben Newman (with a fantastic catch in the outfield) and Brian Volk and Corey Rutkin (with Brian snagging a hot shot in the hole and gunning it to Corey who made a terrific stretch to get the out). Solid fundamental baseball was played by Jacob Seidenberg and Craig Cagner. And the pitching of Jack Tucker, Jacob Portnoy, Blake Cohen and Greg Haynes kept the Rockies at bay.

Skanska USA Building "Brewers" Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Indians"

The Brewers played hard basic baseball in Saturday's match up vs. a tough Indian club. The pitching of Andrew C., Joe D., Anthony L (with catching by Sam L) was solid and consistent throughout the game. Strong at bats were turned in by Conner W., Ken T and Brian K with strong fielding by Brendan N at 1b and Reid A at 3b

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. J & K Electrical Contracting "Rockies"

The Rockies received good pitching from Vincent Rossello, Lucas Cowan, Will Athenas and Andrew Filacoma against a hard hitting DBack team. The bats are now starting to come around, as Gregory Donovan had 2 hits and was robbed of another, Kyle Berlinsky had 2 hits as did Anthony Bartolotta and Harry Schildkraut had a hit and Daniel Kim walked. Jibran Gilani made a nice play at third base.

April 13

Sperry Associates "Angels" Vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Marlins"

The Angels lost this heartbreaker in the final inning despite great defense by Michael Lynch, James Castaldi, Tyler Baron, Brian Park and David West, who snagged a line-out on the mound and turned it into a crisp double-play. The Angels continued their hot hitting with John Denara, Michael Zuschlag, Jimmy Denara and Jake Secker all getting hits. Rasul Rahman had the hottest bat smashing a booming double in the second inning to bring in 2 runs, while Adam Krieger tore up the bases with 2 steals and Nick Mrakovcic pitched 2 strikeouts.

April 9

Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astros" 5 Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Devil Rays" 3

The Astros continued to showed marked improvement in their most recent success of this past Wed vs. a feisty Ray's team. Leading the charge were Astros pitchers Guiseppe L. and Zach S with solid catching by Pete D and Mike K. The defensive performances by Joe W, Andrew K, Gelraiz M, Ed I, Jared K kept this one close. Honorable mention to TJ K with a stellar catch in CF; Jake K with a bomb of a HR in the fourth.

April 11

F & F Roofing "Orioles" Vs. Mike's New Hyde Park Convenience Store "Pirates"

The Orioles won against a fine Pirates team with a score of 7 - 0. James Messina and Justin DiDonato were in sync on the mound. The Orioles also had sharp eyes at the plate with good turn outs from Ethan Volk, Brian Haug, Gavin Schwartz, Zachary Leventhal, Jarett Greben , David Lapidus, David Goodman and Brian Volk (our call up.)

April 13

Dr. Margaret Zadnik,DDS,PC "Blue Jays" Vs. Gigi Italian Restaurant "Mariners"

It was a pitchers duel from start to finish. Nick Winkhart started the game strong, Daniel Hodes and Mike Carbone both held the Mariners scoreless. The Blue Jays' outfield which consists of Jake Raher, Slater Dvoor and Anwar Griffin all made key plays to help hold the Mariners. Anwar Griifin fired a relay throw to Andrew Cursio who threw sharply to Harrison Dvoor at third for a very important out. Catcher Colton Schnall who has anchored this pitching staff, hit a triple and threw out a baserunner in extra inning to hold the game to a tie. The bottom half of the 7th inning was led off by Mike Carbone who walked, Justin Roth then laid down a perfect bunt and beat the throw. Frankie Saladino then came up to the plate and delivered the game winning hit to right field, he was awarded the game ball.

Ridgewood Savings Bank Reds vs. Hand Rolled Bagels Blue Jays

A great all around effort was given by the Ridgewood Savings Bank Reds today. Four pitchers, Brett Dieber, RJ Donohue, Zeeshan Anwar, and Michael Lopez, contributed to the shutout. The big hits were provided by Robbie Altheim and Sam Berk, who both hit HRS. Jessie Martinez reached base 3 times and Michael Varrone twice. Superb work behind the plate by Alex Cowan and Brendan Sullivan. Thanks to Christian Carrick who helped us out as a call-up.

Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astros" Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles played against a tough Astros team which ended in a 4 - 4 tie. The Orioles pitching turned in a good show from Justin DiDonato and debuts by David Lapidus, Ethan Volk and Brian Haug. Exciting plays came from Gavin Schwartz behind the plate who teamed up with David Lapidus catching a runner stealing third and James Messina catching a runner stealing home. Ethan Volk had a great game with a walk, a single and a HR. Good at bats also came from Mike Sitzer, Jarrett Greben, Zachary Leventhal and David Goodman

Hand Rolled Bagels "Devil Rays" Vs Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds"

Strong starting pitching turned in by Shin Oka & Jonathan Kestenbaum. Joseph Tricarico, Akaash Ranu, Brett Baker, Sean O'Hare, Michael Husch and Benjamin Portnoy all played solid defense. James Colgan did a great job at 1st base while Gregory Kyro provided all of our offense. Solid defense by the Rays was displayed with outstanding plays by Cole Romano and Jonathan Kestenbaum. Frankie Suppa walked twice and stole bases setting up potential runs.

April 8

The Ace Hardware "Cyclones" Vs. J & K Electric "Pride"

A 6 - 2 Cyclone win. Again some solid pitching was turned in by the Cyclones pitching staff with Vinny Patrey 2 innings pitched and who was also 1 for 3 at the plate, Liam Quinn (2 k'S) in 2 innings pitched and 1 for 2 at the plate and Patrick Theodoropoulos (2 K's) who also pitched 2 innings and was 2 for 3 at the plate, were able to keep the pride bats quiet. Some key hits were from Ben Todaro 1 for 3, Matthew Theodoropoulos 2 for 3, Chris Dunne who busted the game open with a double and 2 RBIS in the 5th inning and along with John Young again hitting the ball hard and also knocking in 2 RBIs in the 1st inning was all the offense the pride could handle. Ross Crames, Jacob Levy and Andy Ferrante played their usual stellar play to help the Cyclones get there first win.

April 10

City Line Florist "Ducks" 5 Vs.Dennett Law Offices "Bears" 8

Great effort was given by all the Ducks in an 8-5 loss to a powerful Bears' team. The Ducks offense was led by Chris Ferlazzo (3 walks, 2 runs, rbi, 5 SB), Evan Clark (HBP, walk, run, SB), Travis Finkel (single, 2 rbi, SB), Ryan Marder (single, SB), Brett Alper (walk, run, 2 SB), Peter Ferrante (walk, SB), Brad Rutkin (RBI), Michael Barry (walk, run), Iman Khalid (walk), and Andre Korpacz (walk). Brennan Scanlon pitched 2 strong innings, striking out 4 Bears. Brandon Martinez took some nice swings and was solid in the field.

April 12

City Line Florist "Ducks" 7 Vs. J&K Electrical Contracting "Pride" 4

The high-flying Ducks got back on track, defeating a strong Pride squad, 7-4. Trailing 3-0 in the first, the resilient Ducks began their comeback. Chris Ferlazzo led off with a double to left. Travis Finkel singled him to third, and then quickly stole second. Ryan Marder blooped a single to right to plate the Ducks first 2 runs. In the second, Brad Rutkin got beaned & then stole second. Michael Barry walked & then Petre Ferrante got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Andrew Korpacz worked out a clutch walk to drive in a run and tie the game. Chris rapped a single to center to drive in another 2, giving the Ducks a lead they would not relinquish. In the fifth, Ryan Marder doubled to right, then stole third. Evan Clark singled him home to drive in the Ducks 7th run. Brett Alper walked, stole 2 bases, and pitched a perfect inning. Brennan Scanlon singled and walked twice, and also pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Brandon Martinez laid down a pretty sacrifice bunt, and Iman Khalid took some good swings today.

J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride" 4 Vs. City Line Florist "Ducks" 7

The Pride sported some good pitching over these two games with masterful performances by Anthony D'Ammassa, Joe DiMonte, Ben Lee, Ryan Gaitan and Frank DiSanto. Also dominating on the mound were Tyler Carrick and Sammy Weinbaum. Joey Richards was in midseason form behind the plate and great plays on the field were made by Thomas Kelly and Dylan Forrester. Chris Cataldo continued his hitting streak while Danny Luchino ripped the leather off the ball and burned up the basepaths.

Dennett Law Offices "Bears" 8 Vs. Ace Hardware "Cyclones" 9

The Bears started the early innings slowly falling behind the Cyclones by several runs. The Bears pitchers were John Leva, Kyle Facibene, Cooper Spector-Salwen, Nick Perrone, Mark Thomas and Austin Ward. Matt Dluginski has been a force as catcher for the team. The Bears started their come back during the second half of the game. Austins' bat came alive knocking in some runs. Cooper had several hits to get the bears back in the game. Kurt Skudrna and Joe Pagan helped keep the Cyclones offense at bay. Mark after pitching a scoreless inning lead off the top of the 6th inning down one run and had a blast up the middle to start the rally. Cooper walked and John had a sac fly to right field to score the tying run. The Cyclones came back in the bottom of the 6th inning to stop the Bears come back.

Girls Minors Softball

April 13

Wilson, Elser "Thunder" Vs. Mineola Jaguars

It's always a great match-up between these two squads - this time giving the Thunder an opening season win. It was all pitching for the Thunder with Nicole Rossello starting, hurling a 1 hitter with 7 K's through 3 innings. The offense was strong early, scoring 3 in the first, 4 in the second and 1 in the third. Megan Quintiliano, Ally Barilli, Sophie Robinson, Nicole Kaiser and Hannah Meyer all walked and scored. Monica Mattei and Caitlin Mahon singled and scored. Carolyn DiMaria and Theresa Mattei reached base 3 times each. The defense saw strong play behind the plate by Erin Robinson and Victoria Pilosi. Caitlin Mahon pitched three solid frames in relief with 7 K's of her own, giving up three runs but shutting the door in the sixth with 3 K's to end it 8-3. Ashley Vicente, Nicole Kaiser, Hannah Meyer, Megan Adams and Megan Quintiliano all played an awesome "first game"
