April 5

Gino's Pizzeria "Dodgers" vs. Grant Thorton LLP "Mets"

The Dodgers were well prepared to take on the Mets. Gianni D'Arduini, Kevin Walsh and Michael Morrone motored from second base scoring runs on timely hits from John Viantis, Devon Roth, Kevin Griffin, and Paul Depaulis. Alessandro Gullo was briefly drafted by the Mets and had a timely hit. Adrian Balkom played a great first base. Newcomer Jubin Mathew was excited to join in on the fun. Lastly, Cenzo's heads up play snagging a line drive at second base prevented the game winning run from scoring.

Grant Thorton LLP "Mets" Vs. Gino's Pizzeria "Dodgers"

Lead by the strong hitting of Marc Baronci, Hans DeWitte and Jonathon Leung, the Mets put on a superb offensive display. The defense was once again supported by the great play of Arnav Handa and Stephen DeRocchis. Prior to the game the Mets picked up from waivers the services of Alessandro Gullo, who provided solid defense at first and timely hitting. Boys Upper Farms

Marlins Vs. DiamondbacksThe Diamondbacks had a fun opening day against the mighty Marlins on Saturday. After taking a few innings to get their baseball legs back after a long winter, the Diamondbacks erupted for 9 runs over the last few innings, with every player getting into the action, led by Jordan Grieff's leadoff HR to get things started. Other players who contributed to the rally were Blake Cohen, Ben Newman, Brian Volk, Corey Rutkin, Craig Cagner, Greg Haynes, Jack Belmonte, Jack Tucker, Jacob Portnoy and Jacob Seidenberg. Excellent pitching was turned in by Craig Cagner, Corey Rutkin, Brian Volk, Jordan Grieff and Jacob Seidenberg. March 31

Indians Vs. Giants

It was a great way to start the season for the Indians with a win. Christian Carrick gave the Indians a fabulous start with 2 superb innings of pitching followed by the strong arm of Thomas Messina, perfect placement of Matty Lorandini and super strength of Andrew Imperatore. The Indians had great fielding efforts by Jonathan Alicea, Anthony Indovino, Jonathan Farkas & Thomas Haug. Hitting strong was Joe Sullivan (2), Jacob Neiderman (2), Andrew Imperatore (2), Christian Carrick (3), Thomas Messina (3), Matty Lorandini (3) including a HR & a double and Mark Niewierowski with a slamming double.

April 1

Marlins Vs. Cardinals

The Marlins were lead by a strong pitching by Nick" The K " Favale. He kept the hard hitting Cardinals at bay for two innings. Anthony Carbone, Chris Valentine and fireballer Harris Monoson also took the mound showing off their stuff. Our strong defense was lead by Ryan O'Hare behind the plate, with Matt O'Connor, Mike Telsey, and Matt Ferrante covering the infield. Playing outfield, running down fly balls were Gabriel Rodriguez, Andrew Kadish & Anthony Carbone.

April 3

Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers" Vs. J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Rockies"

The Brewers defeated a tough Rockies team at Merillon Field by a score of 6-4 in a game called after 4 innings due to darkness. Conner Wong and Brendan Nolty pitched extremely well during the outing. Leading the offensive onslaught for the Brewers were Nicholas Arman, Kenneth Tse, Anthony Lanzilotta & Joe Dunn. Solid defensive performances and heads up plays were carried out by Reid Alper, Andrew Colgan and Brain Korpacz. The most exciting play of the evening was Sam Livers' 1st inning, double play where Sam recorded an out after making a great catch in left field and then was able to throw out the Rockie runner on 3rd base who was not expecting Sam to make the catch or the throw to 3rd.

Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers" Vs. J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Rockies"

The Rockies had rookies Harry Schildkraut and Lucas Cowan make their pitching debuts against a very tough Brewer line-up and they both did a fine job. Kyle Berlinsky and Jacob Leeds also pitched and kept the Brewers bats at bay. Andrew Filacoma and Gregory Donovan led the offense both with hit and a RBI. Armand Baklajian walked in his 1st upper farms plate appearance, Jibron Gilani had a hit and a RBI, Matt Fitzgerald had a walk and Daniel Kim had some good swings at the plate. The defense was led by Will Athenas behind the plate.

April 5

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs BAB MECHANICAL "Rangers"

The Diamondbacks got their 1st win of the season, against a tough Rangers team, thanks to a terrific combination of offense, defense and pitching. The offense was led by timely hitting and multiple RBIs each from Greg Haynes, Corey Rutkin & Jack Belmonte. Strong defense was turned in by Ben Newman, Blake Cohen, Craig Cagner, Jacob Portnoy, Kevin Peteroy and Jacob Seidenberg. Shut-down pitching was turned in by Jacob Seidenberg, Jack Tucker, Brian Volk, Corey Rutkin & Greg Haynes.

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Marlins" Vs The Broadway Plaza Hotel "Indians".

The Marlins were held for 3 scorless innings; until Harris Monoson hit a line single scoring Chris Valentine for our 1st run. In the top of the fifth with loaded bases Anthony Carbone hit a shot to right field field to clear the bases. Top of the 6th, behind 2 runs Nick Favale and Chris

Valentine both singled allow us to tie the game. Our defense was lead by Jason Seidman behind the plate directing our pitchers, Andrew Kadish, Chris Valentine, Anthony Carbone, Matt O'Connor & Harris Monoson. In the field Matt Ferrante, Mike Telsey, Eric Gonzales, Gabriel Rodriguez all made some big league plays.

Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers" Vs. J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Rockies"

The Brewers defeated the tough Rockies team at Merillon Field on Saturday morning. Very early in the season, yet these 2 teams battled each other showing off their baseball skills as if they were putting on a clinic for some Major League scouts in attendance. Once again, the Brewer pitchers (Andrew Colgan, Joe Dunn, Conner Wong, Sam Livers and Anthony Lanzilotta) were outstanding allowing only 1 run over the 6 innings played. Leading the offense for the Brewers were Anthony Lanzilotta (2 triples), Brendan Nolty (1 double), Reid Alper (2 walks and a single) and Joe Dunn (2 doubles and a walk). Brian Korpacz was outstanding in the first 2 innings at 3rd base; while Nicholas Arman was stellar at shortstop. Brad Goodstein returned from the DL after a week with a virus and had a great day in the field, especially during the first 2 innings behind the plate for the Brewers. This was truly a team effort and a great all around performance by the Brewers!

Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers" Vs. J&K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Rockies"

The Rockies got good pitching from Will Athenas and Andrew Filacoma. The catching was handled nicely by Vincent Rossello, Matthew Fitzgerald and Harry Schildkraut. Kyle Berlinsky and Gregory Donovan had 2 of the team's 3 hits and Lucas Cowen had a walk. Armand Baklajian and Daniel Kim just missed getting base hits by hitting "at-em balls". Jibron Gilani made his pitching debut and did a fine job.

March 30

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" vs. F&F Roofing "Orioles"

The Reds hitting attack was lead by Sam Berk who had 2 hits, one a booming double, Robbie Altheim, who singled and reached base 3 times, and RJ Donohue, who reached base twice. Strong pitching efforts were turned in by Zeeshan Anwar and Michael Varrone. Excellent efforts in the field were turned in by Jessie Martinez-Caban and Michael Lopez.

April 2

The Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS,PC "Blue Jays" 8 Vs. The Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astros"7

The Blue Jays really needed to juggle the lineup to defeat the very talented Astros team. The Blue Jays came out strong scoring all their runs in the first 2 innings. The hitting stars of the game were Andrew Cursio, Frankie Saladino, Adwar Griffin, James Cotumaccio & Daniel Hodes. The Blue Jays continued their strong pitching with 6 strong innings from Nick Winkhart, Justin Roth, and Mike Carbone. The turning point was in the top half of the 5th inning, the Astros had the go ahead runs on base and Daniel Hodes came in and retired the side, which earned him his first game ball. Slater Dvoor played well after coming off the DL. Also contributing to the Blue Jays victory were Jake Raher, Harrison Dvoor and Andrew Tse. The Blue Jays pitching staff has been handled by Colton Schnall.

Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astos" Vs. Dr. Margaret Zadnick DDS "Blue Jays"

The Astros staged an amazing come back last Wed but came up one run short vs a well prepared Blue Jays squad. The Astros pitching department was led by TJ K, Zach S. and Pete D with Mike K working hard behind the plate. Strong defensive plays were turned in by Andrew K, Gulraiz M, Dan Z, Brendan M and Jake K playing first. Excellent hitting by Mike F and Joe W, with Joe W earning the game ball. Nice job guys.

April 6

Hand Rolled Bagels "Devil Rays" 3 Vs. Mike's New Hyde Park Convenience Store "Pirates"

Two strong starting pitching turned in by Gregory Kyro. Shin Oka, Joseph Tricarico and Akaash Ranu all had key hits and scored. Solid catching by Brett Baker who threw out 3 attempted steals. Cole Romano & Sean O'Hare had great games in the outfield. James Colgan came in to pitch and did a great job. Ben Portnoy, Jonathan Kestenbaum and Frankie Suppa all contributed at bat and in the field.

Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS, PC "Blue Jays" Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds"

The Blue Jays defense was responsible for the win on Sunday's game against the Reds. The defense which was anchored by Andrew Cursio at shortstop, Nicholas Winkhart at second base and Colton Schnall at catcher was able to hold off a strong hitting Reds team to only 1 run. Mike Carbone did not let up a run during 4 strong innings of pitching and was awarded the game ball. Accurate relay throws by James Cotomaccio and Harrison Dvoor were able to stop the Reds from scoring on solid hits to the outfield. Andrew Tse contributed to the runs scored by having 2 base hits during the game and a stolen base.

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" Vs. Dr. Zadnick "Blue Jays"

Another strong effort was turned in by the Reds. The hitting stars were Jessie Martinez-Caban, who had 2 hits, including a triple, Andrew Krauss, who banged out a hit, and RJ Donohue, who reached base twice. Strong pitching was turned in by Brett Dieber. The defense was lead by Brendan Sullivan, who was excellent behind the plate and Michael Lopez.

NHP Funeral Home "Red Sox" 0 Vs Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astros" 3

It was a good game for the Red Sox even though they gave up 3 runs, the Boys played like they were playing together for years. This was a picher's game. Michael Hershenhorn, Andrew Greiche, Billy Gounaris, Ethan Schonhaut, John Bennett, and Matthew Mastoridis all played heads up ball in the out field ready for some action even though they didn't see any action. Matthew Chaleff made some incredible catches at 1st base, Tyler Weiss at 2nd and Thomas Fitzgerald at SS made some great plays in the infield and holding the runners on base. Jeffery Gordan was outstanding at 3rd base tagging the runner out as he tried to steal. Jack Sherman pitched the first 3 innings doing an outstanding Job, Andrew Schneider came in for the last 2 innings they both did a great job keeping the score low. Jack Mangin did an outstanding job behind the plate taking control of the team and making some great plays.

Mike's N.H.P. Convenience Store "Pirates" Vs Hand Rolled Bagels "Rays"

Both teams played a tight defensive game. The Pirate pitching was led by Jack Kimmel and Gary Huang which kept us in the game. Matt Bateman, Jo Jo Del Giorno, Landon Phillips and Kyle Perno held the infield together. Our outfielders Antonio Prunella , Sean Moran, David Kimmel , Derek Menker and Alex Putter played a stingy defense. Zack Shavolian had the play of the game. He stole home plate and tied the game.

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Mariners" vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles

Despite the great pitching of Justin Marder and a good Mariners team, the Orioles won with a score of 5-0. The Orioles had great pitching efforts from Justin DiDonato and James Messina with a total of 12 strike outs. The hitting contributions came from Ethan Volk with a double and singles from Gavin Schwartz and Justin DiDonato. Good at bats came from Brian Haug and Zachary Leventhal which set up the aggressive base running by Ethan Volk, Jarrett Greben, Brian Haug and James Messina with a combined total of 11 stolen bases. The Orioles really played well in the field with great plays by Jarrett Greben and Gavin Schwartz to get an out at home and a great outfield catch by Zachary Leventhal to end the game. The Orioles also had good efforts by Mike Sitzer, Nick Zovich, Nick Miceli, Eric Rennie and David Goodman.

April 3

Ducks 10 Vs. - Pride 2

The high-flying Ducks began their spring campaign in fine form, defeating a strong Pride team 10-2. The Ducks pounded 13 hits along with 3 walks in earning their 1st victory of the season. The offense was led by Chris Ferlazzo (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 SB), Brett Alper (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 SB, rbi), Travis Finkel (2 hits, 2 rbi, 2 runs, SB), Ryan Marder (walk, double, 2 runs, 2 rbi, 2 SB), Evan Clark (walk), Brennan Scanlon (2 hits, 3 rbi, run, 2 SB), Peter Ferrante (2 hits, run, 2 SB), Brad Rutkin (triple, 2 rbi), Michael Barry (HBP, SB), Brandon Martinez (walk, SB), and Mitchell Schwartz (walk, SB, and a pretty play at third). Andrew Korpacz and Iman Khalid took some nice swings and hustled in the field. Pitchers Brennan, Travis and Ryan were awesome, allowing just four hits, no walks, and striking out 8 Pride hitters.

Dennett Law Office "Bears" 10 Vs J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride" 3

It was the 1st game of the season and both teams were ready to play some ball. The Bears showed the team's depth in pitching today. Liam Slattery, John Leva, Kyle Facibene, Jonathan Cioffi & Nick Perrone pitched an inning each and they all did a great job. The game was close until Austin Ward had a base clearing triple to open up the game. Matt Dluginski did a great job with the pitching staff and had an excellent outfield play keeping a shot to a double. Mark Thomas and Joseph Pagan played an excellent 2nd base. Jake Grusd, Cooper Spector-Salwen, Matthew Kipnis and Kurt Skudrna controlled every shot in the outfield keeping possible HRs to single and doubles.

April 5

City Line Florist "Ducks' 6 Vs Ace Hardware "Cyclones" 4

The Ducks combined timely hitting, patience at the plate, terrific defense, speed and dominating pitching to earn their 2nd win of the season. The Ducks got things started in the 1st inning when Chris Ferlazzo walked, stole 2 bases, and scored on an rbi single by Travis Finkel. After he stole 2nd, Ryan Marder stroked a single to center to drive in the Ducks 2nd run. Ryan moved to 3rd on a stolen base and scored on Brennan Scanlon's laser to left. Leading 3-0, the Ducks began another rally in the 3rd. Brandon Martinez and Andrew Korpacz walked and stole a base. Chris walked to load the bases. Mitchell Schwartz followed with a long blast to right, clearing the bases with a triple for a 6-0 lead, ultimately the game's winning hit. Evan Clark & Brett Alper each walked twice and stole a couple bases. Brad Rutkin singled and was rock-solid behind the plate. Iman Khalid made a pretty play at third, stopping a Cyclones rally. Michael Barry & Peter Ferrante were terrific at 2nd base, each making critical plays to thwart the Cyclones offense.

A rough start for the Pride won't take away the heart that these players have. With only a couple of practices prior to the start of the season due to rain, these kids are forced to learn on the job. Hot bats on the team are Danny Luchino, Tyler Carrick, and Ben Lee who are all in mid-season form already. Making spectacular plays look routine are Frank DiSanto, Ryan Gaitan, Anthony D'Ammassa, Joe DiMonte, and Sam Weinbaum. Making their Majors debut on the hill and shutting down the opposition were Thomas Kelly, Dylan Forrester, and Chris Cataldo. Joey Richards pitched in with 2 scoreless innings by throwing everything, including the kitchen sink.
