Happy April to all. The Village DPW has been preparing the baseball fields, sprucing up our landscaping and doing the spring cleaning to get ready for another great season in Williston Park.
It's only two months till the Roger Fay Williston Park Pool will be opening. Additional information will follow in regards to sign up and applications within a few weeks. Registration will begin in early May at Village Hall. Dates and times to be announced shortly. Our lifeguards have been hired and we are looking forward to a great season. We have planned many more children's activities, teen dances, senior exercise classes and adult swims. Hopefully something for everybody to enjoy!
The Williston Park Little League has announced their opening day parade and ceremony will be held on April 12 for the opening of the 2008 season. Starting at the corner of Hillside Avenue and Broad Street at 10:30 a.m. the parade will proceed to Kelleher Field, where the ceremony will begin.
I would like to thank two local residents and parents, Mr. Bestler and Mr. Tavernite. They have begun to use the hockey rink at Kelleher Field for kid's hockey games. They have cleaned it up and are helping the village and the local youth by starting up a great program. I would ask that any resident interested in helping please contact Village Hall and we will put you in touch with these great volunteers. Thank you again for all your dedication and work.
There have been incidents of vandalism at Kelleher Field also. Any resident who sees people in the park after dark is asked to call 911 immediately and report what you see. The park is officially closed at dusk and no one is allowed in without proper authority after hours. Costly repairs and any accidents can be prevented if we all work together. The local precinct has been notified and our auxiliary police is out on patrol. But they need your help.
I remind all residents to curb your dog and dispose of the waste properly. Be considerate of your neighbors and let's keep our village clean.
Landscaping has begun and I remind residents to dispose of their grass clippings and refuse properly. Please refer to the website for proper disposal procedures for all of your garbage.
The village website is www.villageofwillistonpark.org Recycling bins are available at Village Hall for $10 each. The 2008 Village Parking permits are available for purchase.
See you around Town!
