New Hyde Park U7 boys Blue Thunder team captured first place in the 41 annual Oceanside Tournament held at Turf Island recently.

The boys had no problem shaking off the cobwebs after having to get up at 6:30 a.m. for the 8 a.m. start. The boys were up to the challenge in a very competitive field which included Massapequa, East Meadow, Oceanside, POB and Franklin Square. Great goaltending was provided by Jack Lynch, John Tagios and Sean Kerwin.

Their job was made a bit easier by a stout defense led by Ryan O'Sullivan and Joseph Judge with some help from Thomas Mangin. The aforementioned Thomas Mangin, along with Andrew Higgins, anchored the all-important midfield which supported the unstoppable offense of John and Nick Tagios, along with Reggie Fan, Sean Kerwin, Joe Judge and Jack Lynch.

The team received many kudos from bystanders as well as other coaches on how well they played as a team with disciplined positioning and incredible passing. Coaches Brian and John were very proud.
