November 17 Game
Lady Lynx 3 North Shore 1
The Lady Lynx finished their first travel season with a string of 7 straight wins. The final victory was gained this weekend against a talented and fiesty North Shore Squad. The win locked up second place for the Lynx whose overall record ended up 8-1. Maeve helped the Lady Lynx jump out to an early 1-0 lead. She made a beautiful crossing pass to a fast charging Allison, who was in prefect position to bag it into the net. The North Shore squad came back strong and really tested the Lynx defense. Keri used her speed to run down the speedy attackers and control the ball. Taylor was a strong presence on defense and skillfully carried the ball into the offensive zone. Jackie displayed excellent ball skills, dribbling around the defense before threading her passes to her teammates. Aisling, Fitzy, once again played great on defense by positioning herself to support her teammates. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie thanks to the Lynx solid team defense.Ashley got the Lady Lynx rolling in the second half with a nice pass to Maeve, who then moved the ball to Julia L. Julia L. put the Lynx on top by converting the combo pass for 2-1 lead. Julia T. used her fast feet to create multiple scoring chances for the Lady Lynx. Danniella's pretty left foot shot closed out the games scoring and gave the Lynx a two goal cushion. The North Shore team really pressed the Lynx as time ran down. Bianca was up to the challenge and battled the hard charging opponents. Eva, anchored the defense in the closing minutes and refused to allow any North Shore balls to get near her team goal. It was a fantastic first season for the Lynx and all of the girls should be
extremely proud of all that they have accomplished. All their hard work throughout the weeks and months of practice was evident on the field each
week. The parents of all of the Lady Lynx's deserve a Thank you for
supporting the team and making sure all the girls could attend the practices and games. Our trainer Eileen, was a large part of the Lady Lynx success.
Her hard work turned this talented group of individuals into a solid, aggressive team. A final thanks go to Coaches larry and Dave. New Hyde Park Lady Leopards 1 Carle Place 1
The Lady Leopards played the game in very cold weather and without substitutes. In fact they played part of the game shorthanded when Rachel was injured; fortunately she came back into the game. The girls played well to earn a tie with Hannah scoring in the first half to tie the game.
Sunday 11/18: New Hyde Park Lady Leopards 3 Mineola 1
The Lady Leopards played their last home game at Great Neck South Middle Field in a make up game. The defense was anchored by Natalie, Rachel, Jen, Ellen, and Eve with Carly playing goalie. The midfield consisting of Alana, Celeste, Lauren and Emily and Hannah controlled the play and setting up the forwards: Nicole, Dylan, and Taylor. The lady Leopards took the lead in the game with Dylan scoring the first goal. Dylan scored again off a penalty shot. Mineola scored in the second half making the score close. Alana finished the scoring for the Lady Leopards with her first goal of the season on a beautiful cross from Lauren. The final weekend of the season was a great success. Congratulations to all the girls and the coaching staff. See you all in the spring !

New Hyde Park Lady Tigers 3
vs. Lynbrook E. Rockaway Lady Dragons 0
November 17
It is a replay of the week before with Erin scoring the first goal of the game with a long and high kick that went in perfectly in the upper left corner of the net. The goalie had no chance to stop it. It was a beautiful goal. The Lady Tigers' offensive players all had close scoring attempts by Jennifer, Gianna, Jasmine, Gillian, Bridgette, and Betsy. Keeley played very determined and was able to run down loose balls, made some steals, and kept the pressure on, keeping the ball on the offensive end of the field. The second goal was set up by Jennifer who passed the ball from the side line to Erin, who scored her second goal right in front of the goal going to the opposite corner.
During the second half, the Lady Dragons came out attacking, keeping the defense and Lisa busy. When Lisa was out numbered by the Lady Dragons, the defensive team of Julie, Sabrina, Laila and Betsy were quick to defend the goal each and every time to fend off all attempts. The defense was solid with each girl playing another tough and smart game. Laila leads the defense in ensuring all opposing players are covered. Julia had another outstanding performance on defense. It was Erin all the way with the hat trick when she scored the third and final goal on a breakaway that went in high above the goalie's head. Lisa attended to the goal for the whole game and blocked every ball that came her way to get another shutout.
New Hyde Park Lady Tigers 2 vs. Rockville Center Rage 1
November 18, 2007
This was a make-up game that was previously rained-out. The game started off with an error that helped score a goal for Rockville Center. The Rage controlled much of the first half. The Lady Tigers did have a few near misses by Jasmine and Erin. Lisa attended the goal blocking off almost as many goals as the Lady Tigers had near misses. The intensity by both teams picked up during the second half. Then on a corner kick by Betsy that went perfectly in front of the net, Jennifer and Jasmine kept kicking and fighting when Jasmine finally broke through and scored the first goal for the Lady Tigers. Both teams played very hard and determined. The Lady Tigers had a few extremely close scoring chances by Jennifer, Jasmine, Gillian, Betsy, Erin, Martha and Keeley but were unable to get it in. With time ticking down on the game and the season, the Lady Tigers had one last offensive opportunity. With Laila throwing in the ball from the left sideline that was headed by Betsy who chased it down and kicked the ball with some back spin high in the air that went into the goal for an exciting 2-1 win. The game ended a minute later. What a way to end the season! Today we missed Gianna and Martha during the second half. Jasmine had a very strong offensive game, keeping the pressure on with Betsy and Erin. Gillian played well, chasing down loose balls and moving the ball down the field. Another outstanding performance by the defensive specialists of Laila, Julie and Sabrina. Each girl worked extremely hard and raised the level of their game this season. Then there is our outstanding goalie - Lisa, who actually got another shutout today. She stops shot after shot, great decision making, cuts down the shooting angles, kicks the ball out far and has been tremendous all year. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful Coaches: Dan Rivera, Tom McGrath, Lenny Kennedy and Don Tanenbaum. Then where would the girls be without our Trainer Steve. The girls continue to develop their game and still have fun under your guidance. Thank you, Steve. Also, a special thank you to Angela Pellegrino for all your hard work behind the scenes. Finally, thanks to all the parents, relatives and friends for all your help and continued support of the Lady Tigers. The Lady Tigers are: Jasmine Bustos, Laila Chadli, Gianna Ferrante, Martha Keller, Julie Kennedy, Gillian Lee, Jennifer Louie, Keeley McGrath, Lisa Pellegrino, Sabrina Posadas, Erin Rivera, Bridgette Stacom and Betsy Tanenbaum. Enjoy the holidays and we'll start all over in the spring.
