Hannah Montana
It was a great weekend to play at the Kohl's Columbus Day Tournament. Even though it was extremely hot on Saturday the Hannah Montana Girls U-7 team gave their all every minute. They played tough games through the day with Daniela O'Modie scoring two goals to tie up the first game against Hicksville. Kristina Horan made many great saves in goal, giving her all. They had great ball control and a very aggressive defense led by Stephanie Zovich, Tiffany Moreno and Olivia Lappin along with outstanding goaltending by Lauren Wasserman which made it difficult for the opposing team to get through. All throughout the tournament, the whole team was very active and played tirelessly with Lauren Vowinkel scoring in the second game to tie up the match against Plainview with the assistance of her fellow team mates Andrea Waldron and Ariana Kaloudis who stayed strong and alert offensively anticipating a pass from the defense to net a goal. Outstanding goaltending by the strong Alexandra Gootman who made terrific goal throws to the offensive line, moving side-to-side to find an open teammate. It was a great experience for all and all had a terrific time. Thanks to all parents for bringing snacks and cheering The Hannah Montana's to excellent tournament.

Following up on a very successful tournament last week, the athletes picked up where they left off. The seniors were on a rampage. In an awesome display of firepower, all the seniors found the back of the net. Emily Bosco, Debbie Chin, Nicholas DiSalvio, Samuel Ho, Constantine Lascarides, Quentin Qunitall, Adam Strominger and Alex Warner all racked up one goal each as they took on a feeble opponent of a quickly assembled collection of parents and coaches. It was no match from the get-go. The juniors were just as potent. Justin Lim, Nicholas Pusateri, Harrison Stein, Tristan Yang and newcomer, Jessica Daly, also tallied at least one goal apiece. Great job by all.
It's only 3 weeks to the showdown of the players vs. the parents. Maybe this is the season when the parents finally break through. With a slew of fresh talent (?) their hopes are high. They're so confident that it seems they don't feel much practice is needed. This thought process led to the downfall of many of their predecessors, so it may be a fatal decision. Only time will tell.

Kitty Kats vs. Ladybugs - The Kitty Kats came out ready to play. Caroline Nuttall, Cayla Mikowski, Jillian Cooper, Lauren Vowinkel had a very strong game on the attack. Caroline Nuttall dribbled the ball around the defenders and scored a goal. Everyone put their best foot forward in defending the net and clearing the ball. Stephanie Zovich, Georgia Thoms, Tiffany Moreno, and Alex Thoms were very impressive with their overall ball control. Excellent goal keeping by Kaitlyn Louie and Julia Feldman. We missed Joanna Mauceri. Congratulations to both teams!
LADY BUGS V/S KITTY KATS
Great game LADY BUGS .The whole defensive unit, consisting of Daniela Modie, Lauren Wasserman, Randi Sarf amd Paulina Papadonion, were so strong that they prevented the Kitty Kats from getting a shot on the goal most of the game. Dafne Siozios, Orna Kidanian shared goal tending duties and were outstanding. Jasmine Kamdar and Nicolena Vega kept the ball in offensive play for most of the game. Irene Tsahas scored a goal with the help of Jordan Wachsman.
Good team effort!

Game Summary
Panthers 4 - Munchkins 3
What an exciting game to watch! Indian Summer in NY has made for some very hot and steamy late October soccer games, and both teams played their hearts out in this very close see-saw game. The Munchkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Sophie Michaels took care of business from the left side with 2 super goals to get us going. Sophie, Katie Krems and Sophia Leeds formed a dynamic three-some that made some fantastic across the field passes all game long and peppered the Panther net. The defense of Kira Crehan, Theodora Papadonio, and Deirdre Lynch did a fantastic job of keeping the ball in the Panther zone, while Oliva Baez put up a stone wall in goal. Nonetheless, that vaunted Panther offense kept attacking and answered with 2 goals of their own late in the second half to make it 2-2 at halftime. In the second half, the Panthers went up 3-2 before Sophia Leeds sprung Katie Krems down the right side and Kaitlyn went far post with a hard shot to make it 3-3 early on. The Panthers answered with another goal to make it 4-3, and that was all she wrote despite continuous pressure from our forwards, backed up with great pinching up on D by Mackenzie Griffin, Hailey Lynch, Kasey Borduas and Bethany Ambrosio. Kudos for Sophie Michaels and Kira Crehan for playing goal in the second half. Ashley Lasko - we missed you. Fantastic game ladies - really liked the way you passed the ball around, changed the field and held your positions.

Soccer Panther vs. Tiger Sharks - The Tiger Sharks jumped to a quick two goal lead, but thanks to some incredible hustle by Camryn Weinbaum, Hannah Weinberger and Ally Petricca on defense, they helped keep the ball out of Panther territory. Shayna Zeitlin added some tremendous saves in the frist half, which kept the game close. Camryn Finkel took a picture perfect pass from Zoe Araujo, and scored a goal to cut the lead in half as the first period of play expired. Early in the second half, Alannah O'Shea tied the score on a breakaway goal from another beautiful Panther pass from Abha Japi. The Panthers took the lead shotly thereafter, when Ciara Lennon took the ball down the right side of the field and cleared it to Camryn Finkel, who scored the go ahead goal for the Panthers. The Tiger Sharks came storming back, tying the game up with a late goal, but Alannah O'Shea took matters into her own hands scoring the go ahead goal for the Panthers. The Tiger Sharks threatened to score several times in the closing minutes, but thanks to some amazing saves by Panther goalie Bonnie Charles, the Panther lead was safe. Once again, both teams treated all of us to an exciting game!!

Lady Lynx 1 East Meadow 0
The Lady Lynx had all the parts of their game running at full speed for this week's tough league game. The Lynx needed all of their talents to defeat the previously undefeated East Meadow team 1-0. The defense was very strong stopping East Meadow's attack in it's tracks. The final piece to the victory was the goal tending, which was outstanding in helping the Lynx record their fourth shutout in five games. The offense, Jackie, Allison, Danniella and Maeve controlled the ball for a large portion of the game. Maeve, who was going to the net all game, used a burst of speed to carry the ball thru two defenders and convert the games only score to guarantee the win.
The whole defensive unit consisting of Eva, Keri, Taylor, Julia and Aisling was quite aggressive this week. Taylor was in goal for the first half and although not tested was ready to go. Keri was called to action in the second half and made some great saves to secure the victory.
I would like to extend a heart felt apology to Julia T, her mom and her grandfather. Due to poor directions Julia was not able to get to the gama. Her grandfather did his best to get her to the field but despite driving all over East Meadow was not able to overcome the poor directions. We missed you Julia. Bianca was out of action this week with an injury. Feel better "we missed you too!" Go Lynx!!!

Kitkats Update 10-20-07
The Kitkats have been playing some of their best soccer over the last few weeks and earned a second place finish in the North Hempstead Cup competition. The Kit Kats won three out of their four games and outscored their opponents 9 goals to 2 during the tournament. Including tournament play, the Kitkats have compiled a record of 5-1-1 over their last seven games. The team beat Hicksville and Oyster Bay in regular season play by scores of 3 nil and 5 nil respectively. These games were highlighted by excellent teamwork and the stellar play of Mikaela Kelly, Jessica Fox and Isabel Ryan. Taylor Cosme, Tara Sirotkin and Gabrielle Berger have been outstanding with their offensive tenacity. Sarahelena Barrios, Amanda Zeitlin and Brittany Apuzza have been tremendous playing every position on the field including exceptional goaltending by the three girls. Katya Keblish and Laura Rountree continue to be defensive forces with wonderful offensive flashes when needed. Catherine Saketos saw the fruits of her hard work pay off as she capped off this strong stretch for the Kitkats with her first goal of the season. In their last game the Kitkats were tied by the Plainedge Hotshots 2-2. The girls applied continuous pressure to the Hotshots throughout the game with all the girls continuing their good play. The first goal came off of Tara Sirotkin's right foot after a nifty cutback o avoid the defender. The second tally for the Kitkats came when Taylor Cosme blasted the ball into the back of the net after receiving a great pass from Catherine Saketos. The Kitkats' fans are looking forward to seeing the girls continue their excellent play. Go Kitkats!!

New Hyde Park Lady Tigers 2 vs. Garden City Xtreme 2
October 20
The Lady Tigers played with a full team today and it started out just like last week with Jasmine in perfect position scoring the first goal, off Erin's direct kick that deflected off to the side. Also powering the offense were Martha, Jennifer, Keeley, Lisa, and Gillian who contributed to dominating the ball and keeping it in the offensive end for much of the first half. Gianna played goalie for the first half assisted on defense by Julie, Betsy, Sabrina, Laila and Bridgette. The start of the second half was a familiar sight, when Jasmine scored the second goal off a corner kick by Erin. Both teams exhibited some fancy foot work and teamwork during the second half but it was the Xtreme that kept the pressure on the Lady Tigers as they then scored two goals from corner kicks. Betsy moved up to offense and had two close scoring kicks towards the goal that landed on top of the goal and to the side of the goal. However, time ran out and the game ended in a tie.

Lady Bengals 1 Plainview/Old Bethpage 2 -
Today's game was played on a slippery field which made it difficult to control the ball for both teams. Our Ladies played against a equally matched team who happened to pull off the win with 30 seconds left in the game. Tough loss but another great display of team work Bengals. Keep up the good work.

Tigers Vs Mineola Lightning- Loss 4-0 - After a rainy night that left the field a slippery mess, the Tigers took on an equally matched Mineola team. Our team dominated in the first half keeping the ball on the opponents side of the field. Unfortunately we were unable to cash in with some scoring. The offense of Michael Orlik and Nick Nikas each had two shots on goal. Peter Restivo and John Hanna with one shot each. Jacob Leeds did a good job charging the ball and holding his position, getting open, and being in position for a pass. Michael Carotta did a nice job breaking up some attacks. Alex Ptacek played goal in the first half, only allowing one goal and saving three. The second half saw Ryan O'Donnell in goal, he made some terrific saves, six in all. The defense of Brendan Quinn and Kevin Keenan had a tough go getting their footing on some plays, but that didn't stop them from giving it their all and they never let up on a play. Kevin Keenan's rapid fire throw-ins gave his team a jump start on the play. Jeremy El Kashash had a great defensive game, controlling the ball, and using his powerful kick to clear our end.

Red Bulls (8) vs. Fire (2) - Tough playoff match today for team Fire against a very strong Red Bulls team. Team Fire jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Joshua Rayan and Christian Carrick but the Red Bulls came roaring back and scored two quick goals to even the match at halftime. The midfield play of Nick Favale, Jason Priest and Nathan Edwards was super keeping team Fire in the game. Justin Carnero and Frankie Maropakis were excellent on defense. The second half was all Red Bulls and they scored six unanswered goals. Good job in goal by Tom Kamberis, Kostov Katsoulis, Joshua Rotstein and Jonathan Ang. You gave it your best Fire!

Tigersharks v. Lightning - In a thrilling match, the talented Tigersharks played one of their best games against an unrelenting Lightning squad. Led by then indefatigable Phillip Chang, Joshua Chacko and Robert Sirotkin the T-sharks gave the Lightning all they could handle. We were all impressed with the play and effort from Christopher Capoddano, Areeb Ahsan, Johnny Denaro and Jeremy Barrios. Jimmy Denaro, Dylan Singh and Marty Koch were virtual blurs as they sped up the field to pressure the Lightning defense. The Tigersharks attacked tenaciously and just missed tying the game when the Lightning keeper made a great save on a Robert Sirotkin bullet from the left side. Congratulations to the Tigersharks who improved every game and always gave an outstanding effort. Good luck to the Lightning team. Thank you to Coach Singh for all his help this season and to all the parents for their continuous positive support of the boys.
