NHP Lady Bengals 0 Commack Elite 2 - The Lady Bengals played a tough game and had several shots on goal which were stopped. The team effort was evident again this week and our goalie, Danielle made many awesome saves during the game. Keep up the good work!

NHP Lady Leopards 4 vs Manhasset Stars 0 - Following the disappointing loss of last Saturday, the Leopards came out fighting and took early charge of today's game. The defensive combo of Natalie, Jennifer, Ellen and Hannah controlled the backfield, and helped to assisted the goaltenders Eve and Antonella by protecting their net. In addition to operating on defense, Natalie helped out in midfield and took most free throws while Carly played both midfield and forward positions. The Stars' goaltender stopped Nicole and Lauren from scoring, but it was Taylor who connected in the 18th minute with Celeste and Dylan assisting. Alana had several good runs down the field but her attempts were also stopped by the Stars' goaltender. In the 26th minute, Alana crossed the ball from left wing to Celeste who then passed to Nicole for the Leopards' second goal. Shots on goal by Emily, Alana, and Lauren were once again stymied by the Stars' goaltender; but at the 38th minute, the combination of Lauren, Taylor and Dylan proved effective with Dylan putting the ball in the net after some nifty passing. The 3rd goal lead did not slacken the Leopards, instead they kept up the attack with Nicole scoring her second goal at the 57th minute following a pass from Taylor with Celeste and Lauren working to keep the ball in the Stars' box. This was truly a well-rounded team effort

New Hyde Park Lady Tigers 4 vs. Levittown Panthers 2 - The name of the game today was DEFENSE! The Panthers played a well-rounded game demonstrating excellent passing and ball control. However, the Lady Tiger's defensive trio of Laila, Betsy and Julie was tremendous and were able to contain the Panthers. The defensive trio was all very active and played tirelessly without taking a break! The goaltender today was Gianna, who played a great game making countless number of saves as the Panthers kept the pressure on throughout the day. Erin powered the offensive, scoring all four goals! Erin's speed, agility, and deceptive moves baffled the Panthers defenders. Martha, Lisa, Bridgette, Gillian, Keeley and Jennifer provided offensive support and defensive assistance. Great game girls, let's keep up the effort. We missed Jasmine and Sabrina. Hope to see you next week.

NHP Kitkats 3 vs. Hicksville Wildcats 0 - The Kitkats played their most efficient game of the season versus a resilient Hicksville team. With crisp passing, balanced scoring and aggressive defense, the Kitkats earned a well deserved victory. Isabel Ryan opened the scoring with a powerful shot in the second minute of the game. Isabel also assisted on the second goal with a great run from the defensive end that set Taylor Cosme for a blast from the left side. Mikaela Kelly put the game out of reach for Hicksville with the lovely placed ball for the Kitkat's third goal of the game. Jessica Fox showed off her offensive skills on the left wing relentlessly pressuring the Hicksville defenders. Our own Kitkat defense was tenacious. Led by Brittany Apuzza in the first half, the Kitkat did not allow a shot on goal. Amanda Zeitlin was also strong on defense and helped the Kitkats with her intensity. It was great to see exceptional play and focus from Catherine Saketos and Laura Rountree. Sarahelena Barrios and Katya Keblish controlled whatever side of the field they were playing on. Gabrielle Berger played her best game of the season and made some excellent passes. Tara Sirotkin gave another excellent effort and constantly threatened the Hicksville squad. On the previous write up I did not give credit to Mikaela Kelly for her goal. Sorry Mikaela and congratulations to all the Kitkats for a good game.

Lady Lynx - 1 Port Washington Pumas - 0 - The Lady Lynx won a thrilling soccer match this past week. The Lynx played a fast , talented and very physical P.W. Pumas squad but were still able to pull through with a impressive win. The hardest hit Lay Lynx was Daniella who sprained her knee while launching a powerful left footed shot. The only thing that stopped the ball from finding the net was an outstanding save by the goalie. Despite the score the Lynx were very strong in the offensive zone. Eva was very aggressive in jumping into the offensive flow and had many strong shots on goal in the first half. Ashley made some very nice passes to her teammates and displayed good teamwork. The games only goal was off a corner kick. Maeve used her powerful leg to send the corner kick to the front of the Port goal box where Jackie stood waiting to pounce on it. Once Jackie controlled the ball she fired it past the defenseless keeper for the game winner. Taylor just missed adding to the score a couple of times in the second half after beating the Port defense with her skillful ball control moves.

Aisling played another smart defensive game. Bianca was once again outstanding on defense, using her quick footwork to constantly prevent the Port Washington attackers from advancing. Keri displayed outstanding speed as she many times outran the opposition to gain pocession of the ball.

The stars of the day were the goalies. Julia and Allison both played half the game in goal. Both girls were terrific and worked together to gain the shutout.

It was a great team effort by all of the Lady Lynx. We all hope Daniella is feeling better and wish her a fast recovery. Go Lynx!

Panthers vs. Cubs - Today, we were treated to one of the more exciting games of the year thus far. As she did last week, Camryn Finkel scored first for the Panthers and added a goal late in the game as well. The Cubs quickly tied the score but Zoe Araujo scored her first of three goals on a breakaway from the right side for the go ahead goal. Once again, the Cubs tied the score, but the Panthers came storming back. Alannah O'Shea, who did an awesome job of keeping the ball away from our goal, passed to a wide opened Zoe Araujo, who nailed her second goal of the contest. Our goalies, Jackie Courtesis and Camryn Weinbaum were really tested today by a tough Cubs offense, but both girls really rose to the occassion, making some exciting game saving goals. Hannah Weinberger, Abha Japi and Bonnie Charles were tough on offense and defense. All three girls did a great job of hustling and getting to the ball. Ally Petricca glided across the field with Ciara Lennon, as both girls had several kicks, on offense and did a fine job keeping the ball away from the Cubs. Both teams really hustled and did an outstanding job today.

Cubs 5 vs Panthers 5 - It was a gorgeous day for the Cubs and Panthers to play a real intense game of soccer. Olivia Lugo started out first in goal still a little shaken from last weeks injury but stepped in like a real trooper against one of the best teams of the league. Olivia gave up two goals but stayed in and focused with some good saves and some good passes to her offense. Our offense in the first half was slow but picked up before the half with Katie Meegan and Samantha Katsanos both scoring before the end of the first half. In the second half Alice Tartaro went into goal giving her best with two saves but let two hard shots get by her, the second goal against was lasered through a gathered crowed of players and Alice was screened from seeing the shot. Marissa Cronin also shared the goal tending duties with a big stopping save of her own but was also beat for one goal. But the Cubs offense was not down yet with Samantha determined to score another goal and she did,and Katie Meegan outrunning the defense scored for her second goal. Emily Budhram and Emily Price gave the offense some really good support on some breakaways. Jaime Mooney and Olivia Lugo was powering the defense and breaking up some of the Panthers relentless runs. Camryn Dluglinski stepped up her game a notch with some great defense playing as always, and was given an opportunity to run some offensive plays made the most of it ripping through a tough Panthers defense and scoring a goal. Great job to Camryn and all the girls today. The Cubs players seem to be improving and falling into place midway through the season. The Cubs really missed the help of Siobhan McMullen, Elise Gonzalez and Hannah Varghese.

Cubs 10 vs Fire Cats 5 It was a great game between the Cubbies and the Fire Cats as the Cubbies came with a full out offensive attack against the Fire Cats. The Cubbies were powered by Katie Meegan who scored six goals and Samantha Katsanos who kept pace with four goals of her own. Emily Price, Emily Budhram and Alice Tartaro gave their best with offensive support. In the first half Olivia Lugo was strong in goal making some good saves against a strong Fire Cats offense only letting two goals get past. Just before the half Olivia was knocked out of the goal box as she stood firm against another laser kick that caught her off her nose. Olivia did return in the second have to play solid defense. Camryn Dluginski stepped up into goal for the remainder of the game showing no fear against the Fire Cats. The Cubbies played a swarming defense with Emily Budhram, Elise Gonzalez, and Marissa Cronin doing their best to power the defense. The play of the game for the Cubbies was by Siobhan McMullen, on defense, who stole a ball from the Fire Cats and ran down the length of the field on a breakaway, as pursuit followed she passed off for great assist that led to a Katie Meegan Goal. Good going team. We missed the help of Hannah Varghese and Jaime Mooney.

Game Summary: Munchkins 4 - Fire Cats - Another very very exciting game for the Munchkins - and this time, we came out on top. The Munchkins used super offensive pressure early in the game to build a 2 goal lead. Kaitlyn Krems did a very nice job on right side feeding balls across the goal mouth - the first one to Sophie Michaels who slammed one home to make it 1-0 Munchkins early on. Sophie had several hard shots on the day that just missed. The Munchkins second goal came from Sophia Leeds who put away a laser shot off a pass by Bethany Ambrosio, making the score 2-0 at the half. Olivia Baez just missed a goal in the first half when she grazed the ball of left goal post on a well struck penalty kick. Ashley Lasko and Hailey Lynch provided very nice support on the attack and each took a shot on goal. Kira Crehan was perfect in goal in the first half - and on Defense she made a game saving clearance of a ball in front of goal in the second half to save the day. In the second half, the Fire Cats came storming back to score 3 unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead, but the Munchkins never gave up and staged their own comeback as everyone pushed forward - including Deirdre Lynch, Mackenzie Griffin and Theodora Papanonio from defense who did a great job of pinching up to the keep the pressure in the other zone, or running back to breakup counterattacks. In the late stages of the game, Sophie M and Sophia L were able to change the field several times - and were able feed Katie Krems who snuck in 2 goals behind an onrushing goalie to ice the game at 4-3. Super game by all involved. Special thanks to Kasey Borduaus who volunteered to help out the Fire Cats and even the playing field.

The Stray Cats forwards and midfielders - Billy Stevens, Travis Finkel, Alex Spinoccia, Steven Cacchioli, Ciaran Stack, Chris Sacino Gerard Farrell, Bryan O'Neill, and Austin Ward - moved the ball well and kept the pressure on the entire game. On the other side of the field, the Cats' defenders - Tyler Carrick, Stephan Eranovic, Cian Fitzgerald, Ryan Korzevinsky, and Chris Ferlazzo - played their hearts out in stopping Northport's offensive weapons, and were impressive throughout today's match. Great game Stray Cats!!

NHP Tigers vs. North Shore Force Loss 5-0 - On a beautiful fall morning the Tigers took on the North Shore Force. The first half went scoreless as both teams had offensive opportunities. The Tiger defense was tough, led by Jeremy El Kashash who consistently attacking the ball and playing great heads up defense. Ryan O'Donnell had a great game at D charging the ball and applying pressure on the opposing offense. Brendan Quinn and Kevin Keenan did what they do best, getting to the ball first and clearing it from our end. The second half saw two nice shots on goal by forward Nick Nikas and Jeremy El Kashash. Jacob Leeds played a good left wing and did a great job on D saving a potential North Shore goal. Peter Restivo at forward did his best to keep the ball in play and bring it up field. John Hanna, Michael Orlik, and Michael Carotta on offense did a nice job of passing and keeping pressure on the goalie. Goalie Alex Ptacek made six outstanding saves and did his best to keep the game close, but in the second half the Force scored five unanswered goals. Keep your chins up and your heads in the game boys and go get 'em next time.

Crew vs. DC United - On another beautiful Saturday afternoon the Crew and D.C. United faced off for what was to become a great game. By the end of the first half the score was 0-0 due in great part to the goaltending of D.C. United's R.J.Donahue and the superb play of Crew's Liam Blicher. The defenses had there hands full as well and D.C. United fought hard with great play by Bryan Wu, Daniel lee and Casey Donahue doing whatever they could to stop the rush. Just as brilliant on defense for the Crew was the play of Pranshu Babber, Zachary Fazekas and Sal Cipriano, keeping the ball out of the middle and passing up to there midfielders whenever they had a chance. The mid fielders didn't have an easy job either since most of the play was there and D.C. United's Jack Nutall and Vittorio Distefano stepped up to the challenge with some great passing. For the Crew Alexander Bracco's fancy footwork along with the play of Kevin Peteroy and Tyler Baron kept the ball moving forward on the attack helped the Crew break through D.C. United's defense. D.C. United didn't make it easy for anyone either though and put a ton of pressure on with forwards Ricky Marchelos, John Kilcullen and Gautam Nayyar constantly crashing the net. As for the Crew speed and passing mad the difference with Luke Laurino going full speed end to end Emile Hanna assisting on two goals and Jason Padilla scoring one and Jose Marulanda putting in another two showing great teamwork. The final score of the game was 3-0 but the boys on both sides played with heart all the way through until the final whistle.

Fire vs. Galaxy - Super match between team Fire and the Galaxy. There was end to end action with each side having their scoring chances. Christian Carrick finally put one in the back of the net after a nice feed from Jason Priest. The relentless work of the midfield consisting of Justin Carnero, Kosto Katsoulis, Tom Kamberis and Nathan Edwards led to this scoring opportunity. Joshou Rotstein had some nice touches today. The defense of Nick Favale and Frankie Maropakis was superb. Nice job in goal by Jonathan Ang and Joshua Rayan. Go Fire!

Celtics vs. Big Thunder - Though the weekend weather was great there was a darkness in the sky being brought down by "Big Thunder" and the Celtics had to stall the rain they brought with them. We had great plays at goal from Frankie S and Connor S, great saves boys. The offense, led by Sujith D, Nicholas T and Nick D were always putting the pressure on. They were backed up on offense by some fancy footwork from AJ. The defense of Tommy F, Jake G and William B. held off the steady Big Thunder rain. We saw some nice passes out there today, especially from Nick D. and William B. That's good teamwork. Remember to find the open space, the ball will come to you.
