Game Summary

Munchkins 3 Panthers 3

The first game of Fall brought bright sunshine and a very exciting game between the Munchkins and the high-octane offense of the Panthers. The Panthers went up 2-0 fairly early in the game, but the Munchkins came storming back with super goal by left forward Sophie Michaels who went back door off a nice centering pass by Katie Krems to make it 2-1. Minutes later, Sophie returned the favor and centered the ball from the left to Katie who slammed in a goal to make it 2-2 at halftime. In the second half, the Panthers went up 3-2 on a fast break, and that how it stayed until Kira Crehan took off with a ball on defense and tucked a goal into the near post to make it 3-3 as time ran out. What a game! Very nice defense by Theodora Papadonio, Olivia Baez and Mackenzie Griffin who did a super job all game long of taking the ball wide and clearing. Sophia Leeds and Bethany Ambrosio did a super job playing center forward. Ashley Lasko and Hailey Lynch did fine job fighting for the ball and breaking up attacks. In Goal, Kira did very well in the first half and Deirdre Lynch did an outstanding job making several nice blocks and some running kicks to save the day. All in all a great effort by both teams! Kasey Borduas, we missed you.

Panthers vs. Tiger Sharks

The Panthers took the field on a blistering hot Sunday and although the temperature was high, the Panthers still displayed great endurance and durability. Camryn Finkel scored the first goal for the Panthers by kicking the ball across her body into the left side of the goal on a breakaway. Camryn also did a fine job of playing goal keeper in the second half, making some tremendous saves for the Panthers. The Panthers other goalie, Bonnie Charles, displayed some tremendous goal keeper skills during the first half of the game. Jackie Courtesis, Abha Japi and Camryn Weinbaum showed just how tough and determined they were throughout the contest. Ally Petricca and Ciara Lennon played defense for most of the game, covering sideline to sideline. Alannah O'Shea showed her usual tremendous versatility, bringing the ball upfield on offense and clearing the ball on defense. And our top scorer of the game, Zoe Araujo added two goals for the Panthers and played outstanding defense as well. Overall, this was an exciting and well played game by both teams.

Travel U10 Tigers vs. Merrick Warriors- Win 1-0

On a crisp Saturday afternoon a solid team effort by the Tigers led them to their first victory of the season. The first half saw an offensive charge led by Peter Restivo who had 7 hard shots on goal for the day, Michael Orlik, and Nick Nikas each of whom had several shots and scoring chances. They all did a great job of keeping up the pressure on the tough Merrick goalies. Defensive dynamo Kevin Keenan led the rock solid defense, consistently attacking the ball and giving our offense a chance to score. Brendan Quinn and Jeremy El Kashash on D were quick to the ball and clearing our end with their booming kicks. Our second half was just as tight as the first. Our only goal was scored by midfielder John Hanna, off an assist from Jacob Leeds. John and Jacob also had 3 shots on goal each, nearly missing other scoring chances. Our always unyielding goalie Alex Ptacek got a bit of a rest today as our defense only allowed one shot on goal. Michael Carotta at forward did a nice job of charging the ball and Ryan O'Donnell on D played tough, attacking and clearing the ball from our end. This game was a complete team victory.

Tigers vs. Lions - The Tigers started the day off strong. With Matt DeSouza playing fearless in goal and shuting out the Lions in the first half coupled with two beautiful goals by Christopher Kilcullen, the first goal was unassisted and the second goal was set up by Dillon Langner, Dillon then proceeded to score the Tigers third goal which was assisted by Aaron Yam with a wonderful pass thru the defense. Salvatore Angeleras, Luke Pullo and Ryan Sham played a very strong game both on offense and defense for the Tigers. As the game went into the second half the Lions scored six unanswered goals to turn the tide and come from behind for the victory.

9-15-07 game:

The Tornados hard charging offense continued to play selflessly led by goal scorers Nicholas Femia, Andrew Imperatore and Brian Schoenberg, Forwards Christopher Kerrane, Michael Murnane and Matthew Notine assisted on the goals with some great passing. Defensively, Peter Siozios, Brian Deery and Brendan Kiernan kept the Lightning offense off balance with great team work. Goalie Jake Guercia played tough and answered the call when needed. Tigersharks vs. Lightning - The Tigersharks and the Lightning entertained their fans with a fast paced and lively game. With only one substitute the T-sharks needed every one of their players to give a spirited effort. Areeb Ahsan was a real force on the defensive end using powerful kicks to clear the ball. Jeremy Barrios showed flashes of speed and skill to help out his teammates. The always hard working Christopher Capoddano did a great job on offense and on defense. Joshua Chacko does not let anyone get by him with his quick feet. James Denara is turning into a very skilled player with great moves all over the field. Marty K. was very strong and made many of his patented dangerous drives up field. John Denara keeps getting better every week and he made some great passes, many defensive stops and offensive moves. Dylan Singh was terrific and showed great footwork on the left wing and was tough as middle defender and found his team mates with timely passes. We'd like to thank Evan K. for helping us out at goalie during the first half. Great job Evan4! We really missed Phillip and Robert and look forward to seeing them back next week. Congratulations to both teams for an exciting game. Go Tigersharks!!

Lions vs. Tornados - After a scoreless first half Michael Marcy came up big in goal stopping a blistering penalty shot from the Tornados. But shortly afterward they were able to sneak one by the tired and hot Lions defense. That was the wake up call they needed. The Lions defense, led by Thomas Haug and Gabriel Moreno, barely allowed the ball back into their end of the field. With constant pressure being put on the Tornados defense by Nicholas Pellegrino (2 goals) and Sean McClellan (2 goals) with assist by Bailey Lee and Nicholas Arman, the Lions prevailed by the score of 4-1.

Panthers vs. Tigers - The Panthers and Tigers had an exciting, fun, hard played game this weekend. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal by Dillon Langner. The Tigers continued the scoring with 2 goals by Christopher Kilcullen, one unassisted and the other assisted by Dillon Langner. The Panthers kept fighting back and ultimately tied the game at 3 halfway thru the second half. As the boys played and battled back and forth the game was on the line as the Tigers came down field with only minutes left in the game, Dillon Langner took a pass from Chris Kilcullen only to be stopped by an amazing, game saving, diving rolling stop by his brother Tyler Langner. Justin Lau was once again a star on defense for the Tigers along with great play from Joseph Steves and Ryan Shum.
