Schools Have Smooth Opening-Please Drive Carefully

Merillon Little League Scores
The Merillon Mariners completed their tournament schedule for 2007 with a 19-6-2 record while competing against the best teams on Long Island. Overall the team entered 4 tournaments and competed in the Mid- Island all-star league as well. The team reached the semi-finals in all of them and had 2 runner-up finishes in HBQVB & East Meadow and 3 place finishes in the Glen Cove Mayors Trophy and Plainview Tournaments. The most important aspect of the season was the friendships that developed for the kids and parents and the joy of watching the kids play the game they love. Each of the following team members had great moments to vast to mention in this article but they need mentioning for all the effort they put into this team: Justin Marder, James Messina, Mike Varrone, Ryan O'Donnell, Peter Tagios, Greg Kyro, Guiseppe LoDuca, Brett Baker, Tyler Ng, Michael Lopez, Nick Winkhart, David Lapidus, Justin DiDonato. The 19 victories might be a record for a Merillon 9-year-old all star team but the coaching staff ( Louis Messina, Mike Varrone, Greg Kyro and Tom O'Donnell ) was most proud of the effort and dedication. The following John Wooden quote best describes this team. "Success is the peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable." You achieved that goal with flying colors. Congratulations!
