Edith A. Barnes (nee Pechette), of Estero, FL, formerly of Williston Park and East Northport, died on June 3, 2007 in Florida at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Robert for 62 years and devoted mother of Nancy (Jose Miguel), Robert Jr. (Candace), Douglas (Deirdre) and Roger. Loving grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of three. Cherished sister of Charles (Jacqueline) Pechette, Edna Murphy (late Robert) and the late Frederick Pechette. Dear sister-in-law of Richard (Agnes) Barnes and the late Frank E. Barnes Jr. (late Eleanor). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Edith was a graduate of Mineola High School and an active member of her reunion committee for the Class of '43. She was the daughter of Charles and Edna Pechette of Williston Park and the daughter-in-law of Dr. Frank E. Barnes (Florence) of Mineola. She was a teacher at Islip High School for over 25 years after receiving her BA and MA degrees in English from Hofstra University.

A memorial ceremony took place July 14 at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton.

Dorothy Palmo, 75, of New Hyde Park, died on July 2, 2007. She was a longtime volunteer at Our Lady of the Snows School. Wife of the late Alfred. Mother of Donna and John Strein, Wayne and Lori Palmo, Linda Palmo, Dawn and Chris Mancuso-Cummings and the late Kenny Mancuso. Grandmother of Gerard, Allyson, Craig, Samantha, Timothy, Bryan, Nicole, Laura and Jason. Sister and sister-in-law of Mike and Arlene Palmo, Maureen and the late Frank Redfern, Debby Palmo and Julian Palmo. Daughter of the late Harriet and Frank Redfern. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, New Hyde Park. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Snows RC Church. Zdzislaw Oldakowski, 89, died on July 10, 2007. Husband of Danuta. Father of Basia (Gregory) Wood and Joanne (Joseph) Pwowarski. Grandfather of Joseph, Courtney, Nicole and Garrett. Brother of Zofia and family in Poland. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Hedwig's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
