For the third year in a row, New Hyde Park resident Robert Valli and his two sons, Rob, also of New Hyde Park, and Chris, of Manhattan competed, and each completed all three events, in the Long Island Gold Coast Triathlon. The race consists of a one-half mile swim in Hempstead Harbor, a 12-mile bike ride along West Shore Road, and a 3-mile run around Bar Beach and Hempstead Harbor Parks. Proceeds from the event, which drew about 900 entries for both the triathlon and duathlon (run-bike-run), benefit The United Community Fund of Great Neck and North New Hyde Park.
