Dennett Law "Giants"
The G-men were crushing the ball from the practice tees, so we introduced some coach pitching for the first time. It wasn't long before there was some solid contact made, with Dylan Kareff & Sam Ugolini leading the way. The fielding drills were intense, but the Giants were up to the task. Both Sam Chiche & Jake Blancher showed repeated fortitude on hard-hit grounders and made the plays to 1st. The bats were the story of this contest versus the Dodgers. Eric Madenberg got things started with a hard liner up the middle, Spencer Horowitz had 2 solid hits, Spencer Kern showed his cleanup power, and they're still chasing the 2nd inning blast by Jake Raphael.
Stutzman Funeral Home "Mets"
The Mets continued their power hitting with big hits by Christopher Kerrane, Richard Kaders, Collin Cookland & Justin Kuzler. Great fielding plays were made by Raymond Gresalfi, Jason Biviano, Stephen Farishian & Robbie Booth. Collin Cheung & Matthew Reda expertly played the pitchers mound stopping every ball hit to them. Jordon Chin & Anthony Treadwell continued to hit the ball well.
ABC Rental "Dodgers"
We played the Giants this week, William Birkdale ripped a single up the middle and Bailey Lee hit a ball over the 2nd baseman's head. Lawrence Lin & Scott Schanter both put the ball in play and ran hard to 1st base. Joseph Griffin hit a ball past 2nd base and into centerfielder. Francesco Stigliano had several chances in centerfield successfully throwing the ball back into 2nd. Peter Vayias & Nicholas Ryan made some nice plays at the pitcher's mound and Matthew Rivera fielded a ball at 2nd and threw a rocket to 1st. Christian Vincente ran the bases hard as well as Christopher Bruccoleri, who seems to have perfected his hook slide.

J&K Electrical Contracting "Heat" Vs. Glen Oaks #2
Emma Quinn, Camryn Finkel, Maria Pesiri, Mariella Facibene, Monica Mattei & Theresa Mattei,
took on double duty to cover for their teammates away on official school business. Each and every one of the girls had several hits and a series of strong put-outs in the field. The Heat rebounded with a victory and were very impressed with the sportsmanship displayed by Glen Oaks #2 team.

Wilson Elser "Roadsters" Vs. Mineola
Gaining the win with 3 gutty innings of 1 run ball was pitcher Carly Hirshon and gaining the save was Lauren Pomerantz with 3 innings of sparkling relief. The Roadsters had their hitting shoes on with 3 hits from Carly (double, 2 rbi, runs), 2 hits each from Brianna Simeoli (2 runs scored) & Lauren (1 rbi). Strong hitting was also displayed by Chrissy Talarico & Jackie Ferrante. The shot of the day again belonged to Danielle Michaels, who also received player of the game honors for breaking the game open in the bottom of the 5th with a 2 RUN HR and making 6 putouts at shortstop including a beautiful unassisted double play. Framing strikes like a carpenter was Camila Dilone, while 2 defensive putouts went to Anna Lopez at 2nd and center field.

Fastrackkids "Twins" Vs. T.F. O'Brien "Padres"
The Twins were led by the great hitting of Nicholas Reda, Brian Nankoo, Brian O'Reagan & Michael Smith. The defense was led by Casey Donohue, Michael Mellone & Nicholas Kurdziel. The Twins want to thank to thank the Padres for helping out a short handed team.

Dr. Zadnik, DDS, PC "Phillies" Vs. Ace Hardware "Marlins"
The Phillies offense scored in every inning and put together 14 hits. Leading the hitting was James Cotumaccio, who roped a triple and an RBI single. His performance earned him the game ball. David Kimmel was 3 for 3, Corey Rutkin & Andrew Filocomo both had 2 hits. Justin Roth, Jordan Lempert, Zeeshan Anwar, Steven Cascio & Nick Winkhart all had hits. The bottom of the Phillies order, which included Jack Belmonte, Joshua Putter & Brendan Montenegro all had reached base safely. The Phillies also displayed great pitching with starting pitcher Jordan Lempert, Nicholas Winkhart, Zeeshan Anwar & David Kimmel, who was untouchable.
City Line Florist "Indians" Vs. Brancato "Rangers"
The Indians who have been carried by their strong pitching all year did it again with an 11-0 shutout against a much improved Rangers team. The Rangers started with strong pitching as well and held the Indians down most of the game. Our staff for the shutout included, James Messina, Greg Haynes, Tyler Ng & Justin DiDonato who combined for 15 K's. The hitting stars were lead by Ryan O'Donnell, Brendan Sullivan, Brandon Gottlieb, Jacob Niederman, Matthew O'Connor & Joseph Leonardo who all had strong games.

The Cardinals prevailed in the first week of the double elimination tournament with a pair of wins. Tommy Murphy led the way on the mound and behind the plate with 4 scoreless innings plus throwing out 3 runners on the bases. Dan Doreste, Mike Carbone & Ben Portnoy provided solid pitching. Ben Portnoy threw out 2 runners on the base paths and hit a grand slam HR. Anthony Verde, Brendan Quinn, Jake Kennedy helped lead the attack that scored 17 runs in the 2 games. Mike Hershenhorn, Jonathan Farkas, Dan Doreste, Max Pau, Jacob Sidenberg played solid defense along with getting on base to set the table for the offense.
Baxter Sport Shop "Yankees" Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank "Giants"
The defense was phenomenal across the board. Jake Ginsberg stopped a hard ground ball at 2nd to stop a rally. Eric Mollin made the best catch of his young career at 1st to end an inning with the bases loaded. R.J Donohue, Matthew Vowinkle, Chris Barulic & Antonio Prunella all scored runs to win the game. The Yankees All-Star pitchers were great with Frankie Saladino, John Kilcullen & Adeel Bari who also converted huge doubles plays at the plate together.

Vs. Dennet Law Office "Cardinals" (4)
The Rockies just fell short against the Cards. Strong pitching by Louis Plomitallo, Gregory Donovan & Vincent Rossello kept it close. The offense received its pop from Andrew Colgan, Anthony Lanzilottta, Jack Briamonte & James Colgan. Also, key contributions came from Chris Vietri, Jacob Leeds & Mark Niewierowski.

Vs. New Hyde Park Funeral Home "D'Backs"
A great game that no one deserved to lose but the Indians came out on top 5-4. The Indians came back from a 4-1 deficit with key 2 out hits by Brendan Sullivan & Jake Seker to tie the game and a clutch 2 out double by Tyler Ng to drive in the winning run. The Indians would not be surprised to see the D'Backs again before this is all over.

Vs. Skanska USA Building Inc. " Brewers"
The Phillies pitching was terrific from the start with Jordan Lempert throwing strong. The game really came down to the relief pitching of Justin Roth, who allowed 1 run in 2 innings and inherited the bases loaded. The defensive play of the game was made by Steven Cascio who knocked down a hard ground ball and threw a perfect strike to Nick Winkhart to stop a possible Brewers rally. The offensive stars of the game were Jack Belmonte (3 for 3), Brendan Montenegro who managed to reach base safely in both playoff games & Andrew Filocoma who delivered a big hit in the 5th. Also contributing to the success of the Phillies are Corey Rutkin, James Cotumaccio, Joshua Putter, David Kimmel & Zeeshan Anwar.
Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels" Vs. Baxter's Sport Shop "Yankees"
In a dramatic playoff game the Angels rallied to take the lead into the last inning. The come back was led by a double from Jake Guggenheimer who scored on a clutch hit by Peter Restivo. After Peter stole 3rd Christian Carrick came through driving him home for the go ahead run. Also, leading with the bat were Michael Telsey (3 for 3), Ryan O'Hare, Jared Kossover, Jared Schwartz & Eric Rennie. David Lapidus & Michael Lopez starred on the mound keeping the game within reach. Thomas Fitzgerald (3rd base) & Nick Campanella (catcher) shined with their gloves. The Yankees showed a lot of heart and rallied to win it in the last inning.
Baxter Sport Shop "Yankees" Vs. Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels"
Another great game by the Yankees who led most of the game until the 5th when the Angels rallied back to take the lead 12-11. The Defense was strong with plays like Eric Mollin's 2 hard plays at 1st, & Antonio Prunella's backwards catch at short. Great at bats by Frankie Saladino, Chris Barulic, Matthew Vowinkle & Jake Ginsberg that eventually broke down the Angels pitching. John Kilcullen had the best at bat of his young career with bases loaded 2 outs 2 strikes in the 6th driving in 3 RBI's with a double. RJ Donohue ending the 6th with a base clearing single. RJ led the team with 5 RBI's with 2 doubles. The game ended the bottom of the 6th with All-Star pitcher Adeel Bari closing it out single handedly with a double play and a ground out.
June 2
Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels" Vs. Brancato "Rangers"
Jared Kossover had a clutch bases clearing hit in the 1st. Michael Lopez drilled a homer in the 3rd. Nick Campanella added a 2 RBI triple followed by a monster HR by Jake Guggenheimer in the 4th. Ryan O'Hare & Michael Telsey also kept up their hot hitting with several hard shots each. Peter Restivo & Christian Carrick led the Angels' pitching holding it down while the offense rolled. David Lapidus again starred at catcher and with his bat. Eric Rennie showed some real grit coming through with an RBI single only an inning after getting hit in the head with a pitch. Jared Schwartz shined with his glove keeping a hard shot in front of him in the outfield saving some runs.

The Rockies were led by Jack Mangin, Chirs Vietri & the Colgan brothers (James & Andrew). Jack pitched well and had 2 triples & 3 RBIs. Chris made a great catch, with a hit & RBI. James had 4 hits & 2 RBIs, while Andrew had 2 hits & 2 RBIs. Other key contributions came from the defense, Vincent Rossello at SS, Anthony Lanzilotta at catcher, Mark Niewierowski in right & Gregory Donovan at 3rd. The pitching stalwart & winner was Louis Plomitallo.

Nuzzi Fuel Oil "Red Sox" (8) Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles" (7)
Losing 7-5 late in the game, the Red Sox scored 3 runs in the 5th for a 8-7 victory. The Red Sox offense was led by Cooper Spector-Salwen, who scored what proved to be the winning run and had 2 hits, Jake Grusd, whose run-scoring single was a key part of the Red Sox' comeback. Matt Esposito contributed to the team's winning effort with 2 runs batted in. The Red Sox also got timely singles from James Messina & Gregory Donovan. Meanwhile, Vinny Patrey pitched extremely well, striking out numerous Orioles hitters in the early innings. Patrey received strong defensive play from catcher Craig Schmid, 1st baseman Ethan Volk, 2nd baseman Michael Barry & outfielder Ryan Tucker.

Vs. Tin Alley Grill "Astros" (7)
On the hill for our Mariners were Brennan Scanlon, Justin Kelly & Jonathan Cioffi. Unknown to all at the time, Justin Kelly pitched with a fractured finger! He and our other pitchers did all they could to try and contain a tenacious Astros team. The Mariners turned a few great defensive plays made by Edik Imanov, Justin Kelly, Sean O'Hare, Brennan Scanlon, Evan Clark, Mike Zovich, Andy Curcio, Giovanni Castelli & Sam Weinbaum. Offensively, a series of hits, walks, steals, and good at bats, made by Jon Cioffi, Justin Kelly, Mike Zovich, Andrew Curcio, Sean O'Hare, Giovanni Castelli, Edik Imanov, Sam Weinbaum, & Anthony D'Ammassa combined to tally up much needed runs. Evan Clark, Jon Cioffi & Brennan Scanlon each slammed solid triples to send the game tied into the 6th. Mariners' Brennan Scanlon exploded on a game winning walk off HR to end the contest!

On the hill for our Mariners were Evan Clark & Brennan Scanlon. Each pitching strong, defensively they were backed up by great fielding efforts. Offensively Mariners bats were hot. A series of hits, walks, stolen bases, RBI's, and sacrifices by Sam Weinbaum, Brad Rutkin, Jon Cioffi, Brennan Scanlon, Evan Clark, Andrew Curcio, Alex Cowen, Anthony D'Ammassa, Mike Zovich, Sean O,Hare, Giovanni Castelli, & Edik Imanov all combined to keep the Mariners ahead of the Devil Rays. Alex Cowen's great base running turned a hit into a HR!

Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones"
The Pride certainly had their hitting shoes on banging out 19 hits this game. Hitting the ball well were Brett Kleinberg, Danny Luchino, Matt Hirshon, Philip Gonzalez, Michael Xia, Stephen Farkas, Evan Rabinowitz, Daniel Schwartz, Tyler Carrick, Pat Theo & Joey Richards. On the hill, Joey Richards, Danny Luchino, & Tyler Carrick together pitched a solid 6 innings. Great job on the field was performed by Max Ginsberg who looked like Derek Jeter at shortstop.

Wilson Elser "Ducks" (1) Vs. ABC Rental River "Sharks" (2)
The Ducks and Sharks once again played another terrific game, with the Sharks squeaking out a 2-1 victory. Everyone on the Ducks played one of the best games of the season, with the pitching today's real stars. Brendan Lum & Steven Popovich combined to give up just 2 hits, while striking out 7 Shark hitters. The Ducks lone run was scored when Paul "Tank" Goebel singled. Matt Hershenhorn moved him over to 2nd with a nice single to right. Matt Zeiger, continuing his hot hitting smacking a single to drive in the run. Ryan Marder made some great catches in center today. Chris Ferlazzo & Paul Reo were rock-solid behind the plate. Logan Diamond & Ross Hoffman played super at 2nd & Mike West played solid at the hot corner.

Vs. K of C #2852 "Road Warriors"
Even in defeat the Pride still showed some heart. Danny Luchino looked great at shortstop backhanding a ball in the hole and gunned down a runner by a half a step. Joey Richards 2 for 2 on the day and was flawless behind the plate. Pat Theo & Evan Rabinowitz also did a great job at catcher. Michael Xia coming out of the bullpen silenced the Road Warriors bats for 2 innings. Matt Hirshon, Brett Kleinberg & Stephen Farkas continue to hit the ball well. Tyler Carrick, Max Ginsberg & Phil Gonzalez all made great plays on the field.
