John F. Loughlin, of Albertson, died on May 24, 2007. Son of the late Catherine and Michael Laughlin. Brother of Mary and the late Andrew. Uncle of Andrew, Michael, Catherine, James and Richard. Great uncle of Lauren, Katie, Ryan, Aidan, Kevin, Sarah and Andrew. Cousin of Fr. Edward Fitzpatrick. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park. Christopher Windfield Karb Jr., of Greenport, died at The Shores at Peconic Landing on May 26, 2007 at the age of 85. He retired from the NY Telephone Company as a division manager after 34 years of service. He was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 10, 1921 to Christopher Winfield Karb Sr. and Grace Ring Karb. He attended Fordham University and the US Merchant Marine Academy and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in physics from Adelphi University in 1962.
On April 19, 1947, he married the former Eileen Ann (nee Farrell) at St. Aloysius RC Church in Great Neck. Together they made their home in New Hyde Park for 13 years and Garden City for 25 years. They moved to the North Fork and spent 17 years in Cutchogue and the past four years at Peconic Landing in Greenport.
Mr. Karb was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and locally, he was a board member of the Cutchogue Library and was member of the Senior Musical Group in Cutchogue where he played drums for 15 years.
Through the years, he had been a communicant of St. Joseph's RC Church in Garden City where he taught CCD for more than 20 years and Notre Dame RC Church in New Hyde Park. Locally he was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church in Mattituck and St. Agnes RC Church in Greenport. Mr. and Mrs. Karb were a team couple for Marriage Encounter from 1972 until 1974.
Predeceased on Nov. 3, 2006 by his wife, Ellen, he is survived by five children, Christopher W. Karb III (Jan) of Fairview, NC, Dorothy (Barry) Fontaine of San Francisco, CA, Peter William (Laurie) Karb of Millington, NY, Mary (William) Beyer of Highland Mills, NY, and Jennifer (Brian) Sweeney of Fair Oaks, CA; 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christopher and Michael Karb, William, Thomas, John, Maggie and James Beyer, Summer Fontaine and Patrick, Kathryn and Thomas Sweeney; two nieces and one nephew.
Arrangements were made by the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Agnes RC Church by Father Thomas Murray. Interment St. Agnes RC Cemetery, Greenport.
James Picicci, 66, of Garden City Park, died on June 2, 2007. He was a native of New York, NY, and an Army veteran. Husband of Claire Gentile.
