On an absolutely perfect day, the New Hyde Park Wildcats held their annual Golf Outing at North Shore Towers in Floral Park. The goal of the Outing is to raise money for the very successful Wildcats' TOPSoccer Program.
This year's event was superb in every facet. Over 80 golfers showed up to test their skills on the links; the most we've had in recent years. Thanks to our sponsors, we had all 18 holes covered, another first for us, which enabled us to raise the most money ever. And the day was topped off as Tom Humbert tallied the first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 10th hole with a 6-iron! Way to go Tom! Everyone was treated to breakfast and some putting tips from North Shore's own Bob Guido before venturing out. A grill on the course was cooking up hot dogs for the hungry golfers during the day. As the golfers worked up a sweat, beverages were strategically located to quench their thirst.
After applying their touch at the closest to the pin holes, then letting it fly up for the longest drive, the teams tried to not lose their ball stay in the running for the yellow ball competition. Finally, the drained crew settled in for a delicious dinner and drinks and rewarding the winners of each contest. The day was culminated with the drawing of numerous raffle prizes, including dinner at four different steak houses! Huge thanks to all our generous sponsors: Accord Contracting & Management Corp., All-Nu Electric, The Babyak Family, Comfort Zone Mechanical, Control Building Services, Corporate Communications Group, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Assn., Eddie's Pizza, Floral Homes, FPA Custom Brokers, Norman A. Glavas, Maspeth Federal Savings Bank, Modern Art Foundry, Morici & Morici, Nuzzi Auto Body & Collision, Tony Perrone, Pork King Sausage, Ridgewood Savings Bank, State Bank of Long Island, State Farm Insurance (Pete Masterson) and The Valli Family.
A big thanks to all those who attended. With the popularity of the Outing, we may have to limit the number of players next year, so be sure to register early. A special tip of the cap to John Lundgren for all his work in putting this great day together. Richard Bletsch

Bonnet U-9 Playfoff game
Princesses 2 Angles 0
The Princesses opened their playoff run against the Angels last Sunday. It was a tough fought game as both teams played with spirit and determination. All of the players truely played like winners! The Princesses defense was once again a major factor in the outcome of the contest.
As has been the case the entire season, the Princesses defense protected their goal with great care. The defense prevented most shots from getting thru to the goal, but the ones that did, were handled effortlessly by Nicole who recorded the shutout. Jessica, playing a little under the weather really stepped up and led the defensive charge. Brittany and Lauren helped pick up the slack to anchor the defense. The Princesses also got strong support from their offensive players as they hustled back into the defensive zone to pick up the charging Angels. The Princesses offense was clicking nicely throughout the game. Ashley was driving to the net and pressuring the Angel's keeper. Kayla made a couple of outstanding plays in the midfield. Catherine created pressure with some forcing moves and just missed getting the Princesses on the scoreboard.
The game was scoreless midway thru the second half when Keri used her speed and burst thru the Angel's defense before drilling the ball into the net. Daniella gave the Princesses a little bit of breathing room with a great individual effort, using her speed to beat the defense and rip the cords. We missed you McKenzie. It was a total team effort by the Princesses and their hard work will be rewarded with a trip to the finals against the division leading Kittens. This a a rematch of last years thrilling final.
Good luck to both teams in the Championship and Congraulations to all of the players who participated in this season. Special thanks to Coaches Kevin, Dan and Juan for all of your time and effort throughout the past years! Have a great summer, Bob
