May 6

Merillon "Challengers" (8) Vs. Massapequa "Yankees" (3)

Curt Walline started the game with a hard ground ball that got him on 1st base. We then proceeded to bat through the entire lineup, with Andrew Abberton, Sean Cunningham, Freddy Cook and the rest of the team getting hits. Once we took the field, our infield, featuring solid defense, consisting of Bobby Lee at 3rd, Robert Detrano at SS & Chris Balducci at 2nd keeping the Yanks to only a couple of runs. The 2nd inning our long ball hitters took over, Robert Detrano, Bobby Lee & Chris Shook aimed for the fences. No HRs but they all delivered extra base hits. There was some great catches by our athletes, Robert caught a short hop and threw to Curt Walline at 1st for the out. Chris got the forced out at 2nd to end the 2nd inning. The 3rd inning our outfielders, Chris Shook, Freddy Cook, & Sean Cunningham were able to field the long ball to get the needed outs. We switched Andrew to 2nd and he gave us 2 quick outs by tossing the ball to Robert at short, for the easy out.

May 22

J&K Electrical Contracting "Heat" Vs K.O.C. #2852 "Dragons"

The red-hot Heat took on a fierce Dragon team. Theresa Mattei & Emily Budhram had hot bats with 3 hits each and a run scored. Monica Mattei & Maria Pesiri had some good cuts at the plate and banged out 1 hit each. Krysta Sollecito had a great night at the plate going 4 for 4, scoring 3 runs, & 2 RBIs. Sophia Leeds & Camryn Finkel both had 3 big hits and made some great defensive plays for putouts. Both Emma Quinn & Sophie Robinson had 2 crucial hits and drove in multiple runs. Elise Gonzalez hit 2 rocket shots and used her speed to score 2 runs. Mariella Facibene went 3/4, 2 runs, and a RBI, as well as 2 fine fielding plays at 1st base.

Stutzmann Funeral Home "Thunder" Vs. Glen Oaks

The Thunder played their final regular season game against Glen Oaks. The 4 runs in the first and 1 more in the 2nd was all the offense the Thunder could generate against a tough Glen Oaks reliever.

May 20

Stutzmann Funeral Home "Thunder" Vs. Mineola

The Thunder played an exciting game against Mineola with both teams looking for their 1st win of the season. Kayla Buff & Caitlin Mahon once again came through on the mound for the Thunder with a combined 11 K's. Nicole Rossello with 2 outstanding plays at 1st, Laura Roantree covering 2nd for an inning ending threat kept the defense on track. The offense saw hits from Emily DeMeo, Sabrina Posadas, Amanda DiMaria, Kayla Buff, Nicole Rossello, Carolyn DiMaria, Caitlin Mahon & Laura Roantree. Ally Barilli, Abby Sollecito, Emily Abel & Maggie McHale all scored. 9 runs were enough to give the Thunder their first W.

Dr. Lorusso-Pesiri's "Bandits" Vs. Wilson Elser "Roadsters"

Bandits won again, making it 8 straight victories defeating the Roadsters 10-3! Hanna Zeitlin got a big 2 out base hit to drive in 2 runs with the game close. Allison Hand pitched 2 scoreless innings to close out the game and Jenna Humberg added a couple of hits to the relentless attack.

Grant Thornton "Dodgers" Vs. New Hyde Park Elks "Mets"

In a see saw battle that saw major hitting backed by outstanding defensive plays. Billy Schillinger led the defense with 2 outstanding, back-to-back plays at 3rd base. Also putting in tremendous plays were Michael Zuschlag, Andrew Colgan & Sean O'Leary all of whom demonstrated outstanding hitting. Solid hitting By Luke Pullo, John Denara, Jimmy Denara, Stephen Deverteuil, Michael Kurre, James Castaldi as well as several great plays in the field led the team to another great game.

May 20

Fastrackids "Twins" Vs. Grant Thornton "Dodgers"

The offense was led by the power hitting of Sean O'Leary, Andrew Colgan, James

Castaldi, Michael Zuschlag, Dylan Figueroa & Michael Kurre. Billy Schillinger & Sean O'Leary led the defense supported by great backup from Luke Pullo & Kyle Waibel. The twin powerhouses of Jimmy & John Denara had many hits and did a great job in the field - we call them the dynamic

duo.

May 17

Baxter Sport Shop "Yankees" Vs. Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels"

The Yankee's rookie pitchers were utilized, they included Matthew Vowinkle, RJ Donohue, John Kilcullen & Eric Mollin. They each pitched a great inning. Abdeel Bari closed the game with his hard fast balls. Great fielding was by Chris Kilcullen & Michael Mellone. Frankie Salandino's switch-hitting helped the Yankees with huge RBI's. There was also great hitting by Antonio Prunella. The Yankees want to thank Max Dienes for coming up from the lower farms.

May 19

Ace Hardware "Marlins" Vs. City Line Florist "Indians"

The Marlins & Indians played a great game this past weekend. Highlights from the game include Slater Dvoor & Jake Raher reaching base 4 times each and both stealing 2 bases; Reid Alper & Chris Rodriguez reached base twice and scored 2 runs; David West had 2 timely hits; Peter Tagios reached base twice. Michael Varrone shined in the field with several strong defensive plays. Special thanks to Thomas Messina for stepping in for the shorthanded Marlins and getting 2 hits.

Vs. Skanska USA Building Inc "Brewers"

Another great game was played by these 2 teams. The Yankees were lead by the pitching of Frankie Salandino, John Kilcullen, Abdeel Bari, Matthew Vowinkle & Antonio Prunella. There was superb fielding by Chris Kilcullen & Casey Donohue. Jake Ginsberg & RJ Donohue had some great hits.

May 20

Ace Hardware "Marlins"

Vs. the NHP Funeral Home "Diamondbacks"

The Marlins battled the strong Diamondbacks this past weekend. The highlights were many, with the biggest contribution coming from Richie Glasser, who had 3 hits including a grand slam. Slater Dvoor & David West reached base 4 times each; Justin Carnero reached base 3 times; and Cameron Pon reached base twice. Peter Tagios & Reid Alper banged out 2 hits each. Michael Varrone pitched a scoreless inning.

May 22

Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels"

Vs. Dennett Law Offices "Cardinals"

Jared Kossover started the 6th with a walk and Michael Lopez hit a frozen rope in the gap for a 2 run homer. Thomas Fitzgerald continued his clutch hitting with a single and was driven in by Jake Guggenheimer on a ground out. Jared Schwartz walked to keep the inning alive but a line drive and a tough luck ground out ended the game. Pitchers Christian Carrick, Peter Restivo & Michael Lopez combined to hold down the hard-hitting Cards to keep the game close.

May 24

Dr. Zadnik, DS,PC "Phillies" Vs. Ace Hardware "Marlins"

The Phillies edged the talented Marlins by a score of 8-6. Starting pitcher David Kimmel held the mighty Marlins and also delivered the game-winning hit to earn him the game ball. Also receiving a game ball was Joshua Putter who delivered a perfect strike form right field to gun out the Marlins base runner trying to stretch a single into a double, Zeeshan Anwar slapped on a perfect tag. Defensively the Phillies were strong with the play of Nick Winkhart, Brendan Montenegro, James Cotumaccio & Jack Belmonte. The hitting stars were David Kimmel, Justin Roth & Corey Rutkin. Steven Cascio & Jordan Lempert were called on in relief and pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank "Giants"

The Angels won their last regular season game against the Giants on Thursday with an all around team effort. HRs by Peter Restivo & Michael Lopez led the way. Michael Telsey, Jared Kossover, David Lapidus, Thomas Fitzgerald & Ryan O'Hare all continued their hot hitting. The pitching was led by Nick Campanella & Christian Carrick. Jake Guggenheimer & Jared Schwartz set the table and scored 2 runs a piece.

Vs. Virgillo Chiropractic "Reds"

Although the game was called in the top of the 3rd due to rain, the Mariners showed they came fired up. By the top of the 3rd inning the Mariners had racked up 8 runs! A combination of hits, steals, bunts, RBI's & walks by Sam Weinbaum, Justin Kelly, Evan Clark, Brennan Scanlon, Brad Rutkin, Andrew Curcio, Alex Cowen, Mike Zovich, Giovanni Castelli, Jonathan Cioffi, & Anthony D'Ammassa, all contributed to a great team effort. On the mound Justin Kelly showed great perseverance, after loading the bases in the 2nd inning and coming back to strike out the side! Brad Rutkin was on the hill when the game was called, but his appearance, though brief, was impressive.

Vs. Hand Rolled Bagel "Pirates" (4)

On the hill tonight were Brennan Scanlon, Evan Clark & Andrew Curcio. They each pitched great, holding the tenacious and hard-hitting Pirates to 4 runs. Our defense was impressive, with well fielded put-outs, throws to the plate, and great catches, made by Sean O'Hare, Edik Imanov, Justin Kelly, Jonathan Cioffi, Sam Weinbaum, Anthony D'Ammassa, Mike Zovich, Brad Rutkin, Giovanni Castelli & Alex Cowen. Offensively, the Mariners bats were hot with Justin Kelly, Sean O'Hare, Alex Cowen, Jonathan Cioffi, Giovanni Castelli, Anthony D'Ammassa, Mike Zovich, Sam Weinbaum, Edik Imanov, Andrew Curcio, Brad Rutkin, Evan Clark & Brennan Scanlon all contributed with hits, walks, steals, RBI's, and a couple of well placed bunts to score 7 runs.

Vs. Hand Rolled Bagel "Pirates" (4)

The Pirates 6th inning rally fell short despite Tim McCormack's HR & hits by Kyle Facibene, Brandon Martinez & Mitch Cohen. A key play by the Mariners SS on a line drive by Derek Menker that had base hit written all over it was a heartbreaker. The Pirates were down 4-0 after the top of the 1st but settled down and played 5 strong innings. Colton Schnall, Jon Kestenbaum, Brett Alper & Andrew Schneider continued to play good defense, keeping the Pirates in the game.

Nuzzi Fuel Oil "Red Sox" (2)

Vs. State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays" (11)

The Devil Rays jumped out to an early 6-1 lead on 2 HRs enroute to an 11-2 victory over the Red Sox. The Red Sox had a tough night on offense, managing to get only 4 hits the entire game, coming off the bats of Ethan Volk, Mitch Schwartz & Vinny Patrey. Patrey also pitched 2 innings of strong relief for the Red Sox. On defense, the Red Sox benefited from some fine glove work by catcher Craig Schmid, 2nd baseman Michael Barry and right fielder Matt Esposito.

State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays" (11)

Vs. Nuzzi Fuel Oil "Red Sox" (2)

The Devil Rays played their best all around game of the year beating the Red Sox. Frankie D'Santos pitched 3 innings without giving up any earned runs and allowing just one hit. Frankie also stole 6 bases, including home. Dylan Forrester following, also pitching 3 innings without giving up any earned runs and only one hit. Dylan also added 2 home runs and 5 RBI at the plate. Ross Crames played a great first base and went 1 for 3 at the plate. Mike Sitzer stole a base and scored a run, while Daniel Hodes stole 3 bases and scored a run. Runs were also scored by Alex Putter, Justin Simoncini, Jarrett Gross, Jack Schildkraut & Matt Kipnes. Stolen bases were garnered by, Alex 3, Jack 2 and Matt 1(who also tripled). Besides great pitching and hitting, the Rays played their best defense of the year, committing only two errors over the full 6 innings.

May 24

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Mariners" Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles jumped out to a quick 3 run lead, going on to score 4 more for a total of 7 runs. The Mariners put together a rally scoring a total of 3 runs, for what would be the end of a 4 game winning streak.

May 25

Tin Alley Grill "Astros"

Vs. Andrea LoRusso-Pesiri, DC "Blue Jays"

Our anchors on the mound were Ben Lee who went 3 innings, followed by Mike Kemmet (2 innings), and Teddy Z closing things down. Mike Fiorella and Aaron Hamooz split responsibility for the 2b position, both were contributing with nice glove work and smart fielding decisions. The bats came alive for Matt Dluginski and Andy Ferrante who both unleashed bombs to center at key points in the game. Special thanks to our call up guys James Messina who stopped 2 runs from scoring with his heads up fielding and Joe Dunn who went 2 for 2 with 2 steals.

Vs. The Wilson Elser "Ducks"

The Ducks came out quacking, we had Nick S and Brian R making their pitching debuts. Bryan D. went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Other contributing players on offense were Mark with an RBI. My defensive standouts were Francesco, Alex, Brendan, Kevin, Trevor & Jonathon.

May 10

ABC Rental "River Sharks"

Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Bears".

Great pitching was performed by Vinny, Ben, Denes & Stephen. Our great hitters were Vinny, John, Harrison & Dylan. Great fielding was by Ralph, Belvin & Aaron. A big thanks to minor players, Vinny & John, for helping us out.

May 12

The K. Of C. # 2852 "Road Warriors"

Vs. J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride"

It was a close game against the Pride. Francesco led of with a double and Nick. S. continues his contact up at the plate. Alex is doing great on the mound. The defense consisted of these great players Bryan D., Mark, Nick P., Trevor and Jonathon. I would like to give a special thank you to and Dylan Lopez that I used as a call over.

May 14

ABC Rental "River Sharks" Vs. K of C #2852 "Road Warriors"

Excellent pitching was performed by Stephen, Denes, Ben, Aaron and Vinny. Great fielding was by Viny, Harrison, Frankie, and Belvin. Thanks to Vinny and Frankie, up from the minors, to help us out.

Well the Road Warriors took another tough loss. But the team never gives up. The team players are Alex playing 3rd, Nick S. playing a great shortstop, Bryan D. making his debut at 1st, Matt who did a good job pitching, Mark who is always great behind the plate, Trevor at 2nd. The other subs are Brian R., Brendan & Jonathon. I would like to give a special thank you to 2 call-ups and their parents for getting them to the field; they are Brendan Scanlon and John Young.

The Road Warriors played great making no errors. Ray Simeoli was fired as the manager but don't worry because Billy Martin shall return. Mark and Nick P. made a great put out at home plate. Brendan's bat is coming alive making more contact. Alex and Francesco hit for singles. Kevin hit a nice double. The defensive standouts were Brian R, Jonathon & Matt. I would like to give a special thank you to Johnnie for being used as a call up.

May 21

Vs. The Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones"

I think the team is finally coming together. We had Brian R. making his debut behind the plate and doing a great job. He had 2 put outs one of which was a relay from the outfield {Bryan D.} to the shortstop {Francesco} then to home {Brian R.}. Jonathon made his pitching debut. Mark made a nice put out at 2nd. On offense Brendan made a nice hit, Alex had a double and Kevin hit a nice shot to centerfield to drive in a run. The defensive standouts were Trevor, Nick S. and Nick P.

The Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones"

Vs. The K. Of C. # 2852 "Road Warriors"

The Cyclones had a full squad of 13 players, and all were up to the task. Christopher Rivera, (Chris had 2 triples!) Jake Phillips, Andrew Pugliese & Peter Loduca did the pitching, and were all-outstanding! The infield was kept tight by Ryan Gaitan, Joe Carbone, Michael Ring & Jonah Mittler. Michael Glaser guarded the dish like a champ! The outfield was manned by speedy Adrian Kwan, Domenick Fazzolari & Michael Granieri. Domenico Fazzolari made a nice catch in right field, battling the sun!

May 22

Wilson Elser "Ducks" (4)

Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Bears" (2)

The soaring Ducks continue to play top-flight baseball with an exciting 4-2 victory over a tough Bears squad. Once again, the Ducks pitching was more than stellar, giving up just 1 hit, while striking out 8 Bear's hitters. Pitchers Chris Ferlazzo, Ryan Marder & Steve Popovich were on their game, keeping the potent Bears lineup on their heels. The Ducks offense was led by Logan Diamond (single, walk, rbi), Ryan Marder (double, walk, run, 3 SB), Steve Popovich (double, 2 rbi, walk, SB), Mike West (single, walk, run, 2 SB, Matt Zeiger (walk, run, SB, and a GREAT catch to save a run), and Chris F (2 hits, rbi, run, 2 SB). Ross Hoffman smacked the ball hard 3 times, and Matt Hershenhorn, Paul Reo & Paul Goebel all took some good swings today.

May 24

Wilson Elser "Ducks" (8) Vs. K of C #2852 "Road Warriors" (1)

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, the Ducks began their offensive attack. Logan Diamond drew a base on balls. John Young smacked a single, and moved to 2nd on the throw. Vinny Patrey answered with a 2-run single to give the Ducks the lead. In the 3rd, Chris Ferlazzo & Ross Hoffman singled & stole a base. Ryan Marder knocked in a run with a single. With 2 on, Paul Reo stepped in and blasted a monstrous 3-run homer for a 6-2 Ducks lead. The Ducks scored 2 more in the 4th when Mike West smacked a 2 RBI single. Matt Zeiger added a line drive single along with another great catch in the outfield to save a run. Brendan Lum took some good swings today. Pitchers Chris, Ross and Mike allowed just 4 hits, while whiffing 8 Warrior hitters.
