Sperry Associate "Nationals"
Dave, Nicholas, Van Dyke, Matthew, CJ, Luke, Brendan & Jonathan, all marched for our team. The parade ended at the yard where the team along with the other instructional teams had an old fashion baseball lunch of hot dogs and soft drinks. Till next time use all parts of the field, run hard and always try to turn on them!

April 19
J&K Electrical Contracting "Heat"(18) Vs. Mineola Team #2 (15)
The Heat scored 18 runs with 31 hits, Sophia Leeds batting lead off with 3 hits & 2 RBIs, followed by Emma Quinn, Maria Pesiri & Theresa Mattei with 4 hits a piece and knocking in a bunch of runs. Sophie Robinson & Camryn Finkel were stellar at the plate and in the field, showing some smart heads up fielding. Mariella Facibene had a great night at bat as well as a first class turn at first base. Justine Kraus & Monica Mattei's bats were jumping with 2 hits & 2 RBI's each. Elise Gonzalez continued to show her skill at the plate going 3/3 with 3 RBI's. Emily Budhram scored 2 big runs for the Heat and did well in the catching position. All the girls made big contributions to their team's victory.

Stutzmann Funeral Home "Thunder"
Vs. Andrea LoRusso-Pesiri, DC "Bandits"
Another tough lose for the Thunder this time at the hands (and bats) of the Bandits. Kayla Buff started on the mound and Caitlin Mahon did a fine job, in her pitching debut, coming on in the 3rd in relief. Sabrina Posadas reached on an infield grounder to short to start off the last inning. Emilee Abel moved her over on a fielder's choice. Sabrina stole third and Kayla Buff got an RBI with a fielder's choice hit to second, scoring the only run but preventing the shutout.

April 20
T.F. O'Brien "Padres" Vs. Grant Thornton "Dodgers"
The Dodgers started off the season with a close game against the Padres in which both teams pounded the ball and scored many runs. Power hitting by all the Dodgers, especially Michael Kurre, Andrew Colgan, Michael Zuschlag and Kyle Waibel led the scoring effort. Good defensive plays were made by Dylan Figueroa and Stephen Deverteuil.
April 22
Grant Thornton "Dodgers" Vs. Modell's "Braves"
The Dodgers had an offensive battle against the Braves with both teams scoring plenty of runs. Andrew Colgan, Sean O'Leary, Michael Zuschlag, Jimmy Denara and Billy Schillinger made fine defensive plays to keep it close. John Denara, James Castaldi and Luke Pullo had some key hits to drive in runs for the Dodgers.
New Hyde Park Elks "Mets" Vs. Fastrackids "Twins"
The Mets came out today to do some real hitting, A. Depompeis, W. Athenas, A. Carbone, C. Valentine, all hit some big blasts. In the field, JJ. Alicea, N. Castelli, & V. Salgado all made some great defensive plays to keep the hard hitting Twins at bay.
April 25
Modell's "Braves" Vs. Sperry Associates "Nationals"
Braves & the Nationals battled for 2 spirited innings before the rains came down. All the kids were excellent sports, considering the conditions. Kudos to Jordan Greiff, Barath Mahesh, Brian Volk, Jack Tucker, Anthony Pitre, Ross Schecter, Harry Schildkraut, Ryan Cooney & Matthew Solomon for their strong play and for sticking it out as long as they did.

Modell's "Braves" Vs. Kiwanis Club "Athletics"
The Braves took on the Athletics and excellent defense was turned in by Jack Tucker, Brian Volk Anthony Pitre & Jordan Greiff, who was all over the place making force-outs. Breaking out at the plate were Harry Schildkraut, Lucas Cowen, Ryan Cooney & Matthew Solomon.

Ace Hardware "Marlins" Vs. Dennett Law Offices "Cardinals"
The Marlins were lead by the dynamic duo of Peter Tagios & Michael Varrone, who each had 2 big hits, reached base 3 times, and were solid in the field. David West contributed an exciting bases clearing triple. Richie Glasser tripled and reached base 3 times. Tyler Baron & Justin Carnero each reached base twice and scored a run. Cameron Pon hit a line drive to the outfield that was somehow caught, robbing him of a home run. On the pitching side, both Slater Dvoor & Reid Alper chipped in solid innings on the mound.

Vs. New Hyde Park Funeral Home "Diamondbacks"
The highlight of the game was in the top half of the 5th, the Diamondbacks loaded the bases with no outs and Justin Roth was called from the bullpen and struck out the side allowing no runs. The hitting star of the game was Corey Rutkin, who drove in the tying run with a single to center, he also threw out a base stealer at 2nd. He was awarded the game ball for his outstanding performance. Also contributing to the Phillies success are Joshua Putter, Jordan Lempert Nick Winkhart, David Kimmel, James Cotumaccio & Jack Belmonte. The defense was anchored by the play of Brendan Montenegro, Steven Cascio & Zeeshan Anwar. The catching duties were handled by Andrew Filocoma.
Ace Hardware "Marlins" Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank "Giants"
The hitting star of the game for the Marlins was Richie Glasser with 2 big doubles. Additional contributions came from Jake Raher, Reid Alper, Justin Carnero & David West who each reached base twice. Cameron Pon blasted a double to drive in 2 runs. Tyler Baron & Slater Dvoor each reached base, stole a base, and scored a run. Strong pitching performances were turned in by Domenick Patrizi, Peter Tagios & Michael Varrone, who limited the Giants to 1 run over 4 innings.

Vs. Dr Margaret Zadnick, DDS, PC "Phillies".
Matty Lorandini, Brett Baker & Zack Schreiber handled the pitching and did a very fine job. Gregory Kyro & Zack Schreiber caught providing strong protection behind the plate. Excellent defense turned in by Nicolas Favale, Harris Monoson, Pranshu Babber & Andrew Kadish. Kyle Berlinsky, Andrew Greiche & Michael Fiala all scored runs by reaching base.

Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers"
Vs. Mike's New Hyde Park Convenience Store "Rockies"
The Brewers pitchers Justin Marder, Joe Dunn, Yanni Rigos & Andrew Krotinsky were outstanding allowing only 5 runs over the 4 innings. Leading the offensive onslaught for the Brewers were Andrew Kraus, Eric Jacklitsch, Fracesco Labita. Solid defensive performances by Anthony Kimkowski, Alexander Lutsky, Brendan Nolty & Nick Zovich. The most exciting play of the evening was Andrew Kraus' 3rd inning, base clearing triple that brought 3 Brewers home. Andrew was a little shaken up at the plate after he was tagged out trying to turn the triple into a HR, but you have to love the effort that Andrew showed in trying to score the extra run.

Vs. Skanska USA Building, Inc. "Brewers"
The Rockies tried hard against a good Brewers team. They had RBIs from Mark Niewierowski, Chris Vietri & Jacob Leeds. Jack Mangin & Lou Plomitallo swinging lefty had nice hits. James Colgan scored 2 runs & Anthony Lanzilotta scored 1 for the Rockies. Jack Briamonte played a nifty second base and Gregory Donovan threw a runner out at the plate as the defense is starting to make plays.

Vs. City Line Florist "Indians"
The highlight of the game came in the 2nd inning when Corey Rutkin, Steven Cascio & James Cotumaccio all walked to load the bases. Jack Belmonte stepped up to the plate and delivered a hard hit, to clear the bases. He was awarded the game ball for his 5 RBI day. The defense was anchored by the great plays from Justin Roth, Nick Winkhart, & David Kimmel. The offense was helped out by Andrew Filocoma, Joshua Putter & Jordan Lempert, who all managed to reach base safely. The Phillies looked great on both offense and defense and are improving with each game.

Vs. Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Rockies"
Gregory Kyro, Harris Monoson & Jack Nutall handled the pitching and did a very fine job. Brett Baker turned in multiple defensive gems. Excellent defense turned in by Nicolas Favale, Matty Lorandini & Pranshu Babber. Andrew Kadish & Kyle Berlinsky all scored runs by reaching base. Solid games turned in by Andrew Greiche & Michael Fiala. Catching and giving us strong defense and a solid foundation was Zach Schreiber. We call behind the plate "The Zack Zone".

Vs. The Fundamentals of Ball "White Sox"
The Rangers came out slugging this week led by Jack Sherman (Great HR), Phillip Silverstein & Matthew Mastoridis to a tie with the White Sox. The Rangers were anchored by the awesome pitching of Dante Gargiulo & Cole Romano. Also contributing on both sides of the field were Jay Korman (3B/P), Giuseppie Loduca, Zachary Leventhal & Eric Gonzalez.

Vs. Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Rockies"
The Rockies came out swinging, led by James Colgan's 3 for 3. Great hacking was shown by Michael Husch, Jacob Leeds & Mark Niewierowski. The pitching & defense for the Rockies was superb. Vincent Rossello led the pitchers with 2 scoreless frames & 5 K's. Gregory Donovan's sparkler at 2nd base ended the game and he was joined by Anthony Lanzilotta's catch in centerfield & catcher Jack Mangin gunning a would be base stealer at 3rd base for fine defensive plays.

The F & F Roofing "Orioles" Vs. Virgilio Chiropractor "Reds"
The Orioles pitching was strong this game with 2 strong innings from Joseph Pagan. David Erlich, Jeremy Bernstein, John Young & Brett Dieber also pitched well. Christopher Cataldo had a good game at bat as well as on the bases going 1 for 2 with 3 stolen bases and a steal of home to keep the game close. Zachary Shevoilan, Harrison Dvoor & Matthew Theodorpoulos were the team's spark plugs both at the plate and in the field showing some timely hitting and running the bases. Robbei Altheim was his usual steady self at the plate and in the field.

Vs. State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays"
The Blue Jays jumped out to an early lead as Brandon Silva brought home 2 runs with a single and Akaash Ranu ( 2 hits including a triple) brought home the other. Liam Slattery's long HR to right added a run in the 3rd. Liam Quinn led off the 4th with laser beam to left for another HR. Daniel Cohen & Jayson Molina kept the rally going as Jeffery Gordon cleared the bases with single. Liam S. & Brandon started the 5th with singles and were brought home on Gary Huang's booming triple. Akaash, Dan & Alex Lopez had consecutive hits to complete the scoring. Andrew Waibel continues his solid play & Jack Kimmel pitched another shutout inning.
Andrea LoRusso-Pesiri, DC "Blue Jays"
Vs. State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays"
Alex Putter had an amazing game on base all 3 at bats and making several great plays at 2nd base. Alex also scored in the 1st inning on Ross Crames' 2 run HR to right. Matt Kipnis played a great right field, including robbing a Blue Jay of an extra base hit, while getting hits in both at bats. Frankie Suppa caught the first 4 innings, and despite all the heavy lifting behind the plate was on base twice. Justin Simoncini did a solid job in center, while Jarret Gross stole 2 bases. The pitching was shoulder by Daniel Hodes, giving us 3 good innings, allowing just 3 hits. Michael Sitzer & Jake Levy made their first pitching appearance, each throwing 1 inning and demonstrating good control.
April 25
Andrea LoRusso-Pesiri, DC "Blue Jays" (11)
Vs. Tin Alley Grill "Astros" (6)
The Blue Jays jumped out to an early lead as Jack Kimmel walked, Liam Slattery singled him to 3rd and Brandon Silva followed with an RBI single. Liam Quinn walked in front of Akaash Ranu who doubled in 2 runs. Jayson Molina worked out a walk and scored the 6th run of the inning as Gary Huang, Daniel Cohen & Jeffery Gordon went back to back to back with singles. Andrew Waibel led off the 3rd with a walk and came round to score an important run. Alex Lopez continues to solidify the catcher's position with his excellent play behind the plate.

Vs. State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays" (10)
Joe Dimonte's triple with the bases loaded was the game-winning hit in the Red Sox' 11-10 come-from-behind win over the Devil Rays. The Red Sox also benefited from the timely hitting of Ethan Volk, Mitch Schwartz, Copper Spector-Salwen & Joe Tricarico. Meanwhile, Jake Grusd, Craig Schmid & Ryan Tucker each reached base every time they were at bat.
April 29
State Bank of Long Island "Devil Rays"
Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Pirates"
The Devil Rays opened up strongly with Alex Putter & Matt Kipnis scoring on Michael Sitzer's 3 run HR to right center. The Rays, however, would add only 2 more runs the rest of the game, one on Ross Crames's solo HR run to right, and on a steal of home by Frankie Suppa. Jacob Levy & Justin Simoncini both reach base safely, as did Justin Gross. Justin also made the catch of the game in left field. Ross Crames pitched 2 solid innings, and Frankie Suppa was impressive in his 2 inning Minor Division debut.
Tin Alley Grill "Astros" Vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Mariners"
Teddy Z. led the Astro charge with a terrific pitching display, followed by Mike Kemmet & Ben Lee who also helped his cause by delivering a HR in the 5th. Once again, Matt Dluginski & Pete Dunn were excellent behind the plate and contributed with some nice hitting. Bats also came alive for a number of Astros including Aaron Hamooz with a shot to center, Pete Ferante, Steve Telsey with tough at bats & TJ Kemmet who laid down a slick bunt in the 6th. Thomas Fong, Mike Fiorella & Teddy Z. showed some real speed and smart base running. No doubt, Astros defensive play of the day goes to 3rd baseman Andy Ferrante who made a grab of a smoking liner in the 3rd.

Vs. ABC Rental "River Sharks" (3)
Travis Finkel pitched 2 strong innings. Austin Ward went 3 for 3. John Leva pitched his first scoreless inning of the season. Michael Courtney came in and pitched a scoreless 6th to earn the save. Anthony Stacom slammed a double to get the 6th started and scored an insurance run. Nicholas Driscoll had another hit to keep his streak alive. Jordan Grossman pitched a scoreless inning. Matthew Perno had some hard hit balls this game. Thomas Jaklitsch, Ben Manning & Daniel Coster kept the Bears in the game by playing strong defense.
April 21

Vs. J. & K. Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride"
Brian R. continued his hitting streak with a triple. Other offense hitters were Matt G. going 2 for 3 with a RBI and Kevin T. with an RBI. Our defense consisted of great players Francesco in center, Nick S. at third base & Mark who is always great behind the plate. The outfield was Jonathon, Trevor & Alex. Nick P. was our starter and Bryan D. was the big closer. Stutzman Funeral Home "Bears" (2) Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" (8) The Bears faced a strong Cyclone team this game. Ben Manning played a good third base and had both RBIs for the team. Nicholas Driscoll had a double to continue his hot streak. Matt Perno smoked a ball to center field. Michael Courtney had several hits. But the Cyclones proved too tough on this day.
April 23
Wilson Elser "Ducks" (6) Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" (7)
The Ducks took a 2-0 1st inning lead on Chris Ferlazzo's walk, followed by Ross Hoffman's single. Steve Popovich knocked in the first run on a hit to first, then Ross stole home for the second run. In the 3rd, with the score knotted at 2, the Ducks struck again for 4 runs, capped by Ryan Marder's 2 run single & Logan Diamond's base hit for a 6-2 lead. Mike West had a walk and 2 stolen bases, Paul Goebel smacked a hit, Matt Herschenhorn rapped a single & Troy Driscoll drew a walk. Paul Reo & Matt Zeiger both took some nice swings and made some great plays in the field. Pitchers, Steve, Mike & Ryan combined to whiff 6 hitters.
April 24
K. OF C. #2852 "Road Warriors" Vs. ABC Rental "River Sharks"
The Warriors struck first with Francesco stealing 3rd base and home. In the 4th inning Mark lead off with a walk & Nick S. reached on an error, then Nick P. grounded out for an RBI. Matt continued the inning by getting hit by the pitcher and here comes BIG Bryan D. hitting a bases clearing double. Kevin was superb at 1st base & the rest of our defense was Trevor, Jonathon, Brendan & Alex.
K. OF C. #2852 "Road Warriors" Vs. ABC Rental "River Sharks"
A great baseball game was played by the River Sharks against a strong opponent, the Road Warriors. Great pitching was performed by Stephen, Ben and Vinny. There were 3 HRs hit, 2 by Ben and 1 by Stephen. Other hitters contributing were Harrison, Ralph, Aaron, & Dylan. Great fielding by Denes, Joe & Belvin.

Vs. Stutzman Funeral Home "Bears" (0)
The Pride's twosome of Danny Luchino & Tyler Carrick demonstrated "Pride and Poise" on the mound with 3 inning each of masterful pitching. Patty Theo & Joey Richards showed their versatility with 3 major league type innings each behind the plate and sprinkled themselves in at other positions without missing a beat. Stephen Farkas had the shot of the day with a HR to left center that cleared the Pride bench for the best high fives and helmet slapping at home plate that you'll ever see. Daniel Schwartz, Matt Hirshon & Michael Xia continued their hitting streaks. The Pride is now complete with the return of Evan Rabinowitz in full swing.

Vs. ABC Rental "River Sharks" (4)
Yeah, I know ties are nothing to talk about, but this one was a Little League beauty. Two teams that battled neck and neck for seven innings, showed heart and enthusiasm. For the Pride, Matt Hirshon fought off the River Sharks' "bruisers" with 3 innings of bullets, only allowing 2 hits. Also, showing composure on the mound in tight spots were Stephen Farkas & Brett Kleinberg. Closing the door were Tyler Carrick & Daniel Schwartz. By the way Daniel, do not return the bat, it was worth every nickel for that screaming liner HR. Best hits of the day go to Philip Gonzalez with a 2 strike base hit RBI single & Michael Xia for slicing an inside fastball down the line for a 3 bagger. Behind the plate was Evan Rabinowitz framing strikes like a carpenter. Danny Luchino, Patty Theo. & Max Ginsberg sported some good leather on the diamond cutting down anything that came their way.
Wilson Elser "Ducks" (5) Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" (4)
This was the second consecutive game in which the two teams faced each other, but this time the Ducks nailed down the victory and avenged the bitter loss from the game before. The hitting was generated up and down the line-up with standout shots from Paul Reo & Ryan Marder, who also made a stellar play in the deep hole at short to save at least a run. Pitchers Steven Popovich, Ross Hoffman & Chris Ferlazzo combined for 4 solid innings, while closer Brendan Lum doused out the Cyclone's comeback attempt. Noteworthy at bats were also had by Ross Hoffman & Logan Diamond, both of whom scorched the ball for line outs. Matt Zeiger helped to wear down the opposing pitcher, and showed poise and discipline at the plate by working a full count walk.
