Sperry Associates "Nationals"
The Nationals had great hitting from Christopher, CJ, Matthew and Jonathan. Flashing the game day leather was Nicholas, Dave, Brendan and Garrison. Welcome to the team to Andrew and Van Dyke, who played their first game.
Dennett Law Giants
The Giants set the tone at the batting practice tees with line drives being consistently ripped by Spencer Horowitz, Spencer Kern & Jake Raphael. Sam Chiche made some adjustments to his stance and now shows great opposite field power. During fielding drills, Sam Ugolini & Ryan Singer showcased their rocket arms, and Jason Beeferman & Jordan Seidenberg were solid with the glove. Jake Blancher led the pre-game warm-ups with his spontaneous push-ups! Game highlights included a frozen rope delivered by Dylan Kareff, multiple infield plays turned by Eric Madenberg and great catching at 1st base by Timothy Lee. Philip Menist is on the 7-day DL but we hope he's back for the next game.
The ABC Rental "Dodgers"
The Dodgers showed great improvement in their second game. Many of our boys were hitting the ball cleanly off the tee. Peter Vayias, Lawrence Lin & Nicolas Ryan were swinging the bats level and making good contact with the ball. Joseph Griffin, Nicolas Capelle & Christopher Bruccoleri had ground balls hit to them which they fielded cleanly. Bailey Lee, Cristian Vincente & Michael Calandra's arms looked strong and show potential to pitch when they move up threw the little league system. Gaining greater knowledge of the game as they performed this past Saturday were William Birkdale, Francesco Stigliano & Matthew Rivera.
Stutzmann Funeral Home "Mets"
Christopher Kerrane played a great first base while Anthony Treadwell, Jason Biviano, Robbie Booth & Jordon Chin made great plays in the field for the Mets. The Mets continued their fine play with big hits by Justin Kuzler, Timon Chow, Collin Cheung & Stephen Farishian. All players are already showing signs of improvement and the team looks forward to next week. "Let's Go Mets!"

Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Racers"
The Dragons came out with a powerful hitting display and were led by Nicole Kutzler with 4 hits & superb play out in the field. The rest of the team hitting the leather was Kristen R., Logan W., Camryn D., Natalie P., Katie D., Allison S., Christine V., Jessica V., Marianna V., Micheala Z. and Melissa T. The team played well in the field and the Dragons were always in the game. Nice start to the season. Let's Go Dragons!

J&K Electrical Contracting "Heat" Vs "Mineola 1"
In their first game of the season the Heat were on fire, getting 30 hits and scoring 15 runs. The hit parade was led by Emily Budhram with 4 hits, Sophia Leeds, Camryn Finkel, Elise Gonzales, Theresa Mattei, with 3 hits a piece, Mariella Facibene, Justine Kraus, Monica Mattei, Maria Pesiri, Emma Quinn, Sophie Robinson & Krysta Sollecito with 2 big hits each. Each girl contributed to the scoring with multiple RBI's and runs scored. The Heat's fielding was outstanding as well. All the girls made many good attempts to get their opponents out with some heads up fielding. We had some nice put outs in the field by Mariella F., Camryn F. & Sophia L. Special thanks to a fantastic group of parents for their support and assistance with coaching. We are very proud of you, keep up the good work girls!

J & K Electrical Contracting "Heat" Vs. Glen Oaks
Today's opponents were a tough Glen Oaks team. The Mattei sisters led the offensive attack. Theresa went 5 for 5, scored 5 runs & 3RBI's. Monica had 4 big hits scored 3 runs & 3RBI's. Emma Quinn & Krysta Sollecito each had 4 hits & 3 runs scored. They also did a great job at catcher. Camryn Finkel's 2 hits drove in 2 more runs, she also made some great plays in the field. Elise Gonzalez had a hot bat today with 4 hits & 3 RBI's. At the plate and on the field, Justine Kraus & Sophie Robinson made an impact, both with multiple hits, runs & RBI's. Their heads up fielding led to some nice put outs. Sophia Leeds left the game early, but not before hitting 2 rocket shots and using her speed to score a run. Maria Pesiri & Emily Budhram each had a nice hit and made good plays in the field for outs. We missed Mariella this game. Go Heat!

Wilson, Elser "Roadsters" Vs. Glen Oaks
The Roadsters reliable pitching faltered, and we lost our first game of the year 15-9. There were several highlights however. Playing in her first game, Danielle Michales led the way for the Roadsters with a 2 run HR in her 1st at bat, and made several sparkling defensive plays at shortstop. Rachel Warner pitched a solid inning of relief. Carly Hirshon, Hally Silberg, Lauren Pomerantz, Emily Nitzberg, Anna Lopez & Brianna Simeoli all chipped in with solid hits. Alanna Fichtel, Josette Molina, Rachel Kavanaugh, Jackie Ferrante, Christina Talarico & Camila Dilone all contributed on defense. Camila completed a terrific force play at 2nd base. The great thing about baseball is there is always the game tomorrow. Go Roadsters!

Modell's "Braves" Vs. Fastrackids "Twins"
The Braves had a great opening night of the Lower Farms season. All the kids had a great time and were excellent sports. Some highlights included: inspired base running by Lucas Cowan; excellent glove work by Jordan Greiff, Barath Mahesh, Brian Volk & Jack Tucker; great baseball fundamentals by Ryan Cooney & Matthew Solomon; and nice hitting by Anthony Pitre, Matthew Portnoy & Harry Schildkraut. The Braves look forward to a great season of fun and building of their baseball fundamentals.
Fastrackids "Twins" vs. Modells "Braves"
"Play Ball", the Twins came out ready to play. The defense was led by Casey Donohue and Christopher Kilcullen who anchored a solid infield all night. Casey's diving catch at shortstop ended a late come back from a powerful Braves lineup. Emanuel Magriples, Michael Mellone and Nicholas Kurdziel all contributed with solid at bats to lead the Twins on offense. Michael Smith and Allesandro Drudi came through with some key two out base hits. Special thanks to Max Dienes who was tough as nails behind the plate at catcher. Nicholas Reda and Jack Lynch were missed as they had fun in the sun down in Florida. Hurry back boys!

Dr. Barbaro "Cubs" Vs. Kiwanis Club "Athletics"
The Cubs and Athletics opened their season on Friday and both had their bats in midseason form. The Cubs' Adam Sperling, Max Uribe & William Ban had multiple hits while Charlie Goodwin & James Treadwell each scored 2 runs. In the field the Cubs looked very sharp. Their defense was anchored by George Vlantis, Jake Glueck, Harrison Nettler & Jithin John who all made dazzling plays with their gloves. The Cubs were excited by the warm weather and can't wait to get back on to the field to play more baseball!

Modell's "Braves" Vs. Grant Thornton LLP "Dodgers"
The Braves engaged in an offensive battle with the mighty Dodgers. All the kids had a great day at the plate, with multiple hits from Lucas Cowan, Barath Mahesh, Jack Tucker, Harry Schildkraut, Ross Schecter, Ryan Cooney, Phillip Kashman, Matthew Portnoy & Matthew Solomon. Kudos to Anthony Pitre & Brian Volk for their pair of doubles each. On a day where hitting was at a premium, great defensive plays were turned in by the combo of Jack Tucker & Brian Volk, with force-outs at home & first base, and Harry Schildkraut at second base & first base. Great sportsmanship was shown by all players.
Fastrackids "Twins" Vs. Dr. Barbaro "Cubs"
The boys were all looking their best at picture day and on the diamond. The bats were hot as Nicholas Kurdziel led off for what turned out to be a potent attack. Brian O'Reagan, Nicholas Reda and Michael Mellone had some big base hits throughout the day. Christopher Kilcullen and Casey Donohue continue to swing the bat well with some big RBIs. Bryan Nankoo, Allesandro Drudi and Jack Lynch all had wonderful days in the field as the Twins turned their season's first double play. This magical group of boys also turned out a triple play that brought all in attendance to their feet. Keep up the hard work!

The Marlins and Yankees battled it out in a well played game by both teams. The Marlins hitting star of this game was Michael Varrone with 3 hits and 2 home runs. Tyler Baron, Reid Alper & Jake Raher each reached base 3 times and Justin Carnero & Chris Rodriguez twice. Peter Tagios helped out immensely in the field. On the pitching side, Jake & Reid both contributed scoreless innings. Special thanks to Michael Husch & Vincent Rossello for helping out the shorthanded Marlins.

City Line Florist "Indians" Vs. Skanska USA Building Inc. "Brewers
A very good game with two tough pitching staffs made for some exciting action. The game featured the Indians strong pitching lead by Justin DiDonato, Gregory Haynes, Matthew O'Connor & James Messina. Brandon Gottlieb continues to rip the ball as he has started the season 6 for 6 and has yet to make an out. Our other hitting stars included Tyler Ng, Ryan O'Donnell, Brendan Sullivan & Jake Secker. The Indians have only given up 4 runs this year! They were supported by solid defense from Joseph Leonardo & Matthew Ferrante. Let's go Indians!

City Line Florist "Indians"
The Brewers turned out for a tough outing against the Indians resulted in their first defeat of the season. During the game, these teams battled each other back and forth, but in the end, the Brewers came up on the short side of a 5-3 loss. Despite the loss, the Brewers made an outstanding effort against this top rated Indian team. Andrew Krotinski, Yanni Rigos & Justin Marder were tough against the Indian team batters and the Brewers had some good at bat performances by Alexander Lutsky, Adam Krieger, Eric Jacklitsch & Francesco Labita. Brendan Nolty, Joe Dunn & Anthony Kimkowski are continuing to improve every game on defense. After interviewing several of the players after the game, it is obvious that this Brewers' team has no intention on letting this loss discourage them while they continue to improve and make preparations for their next game. Let's go Brewers!

The Indians gave us all we could handle with a well balanced combination of offense & defense.
Strong pitching was turned in by Brett Baker, Harris Monoson & Zack Schrieber. Excellent defense was displayed by Gregory Kyro, Nicolas Favale, Matty Lorandini & Jack Nuttall. Pranshu Babber, Andrew Kadish & Kyle Berlinsky all scored runs. Solid games turned in by Andrew Greiche & Michael Fiala. Play of the game, James Messina hit a Grand Slam to seal the deal. Great job James.

Two very good teams played a tough close game until the top of the last inning when James Messina hit a 2 out grand slam to put the game out of reach. Our hitting stars included Brandon Gottlieb, Jacob Niederman who ripped a double to open the game, Tyler Ng who continues to pound the ball, as does Ryan O'Donnell, and Brendan Sullivan. The Yankees and Giants played a great game on Thursday evening. This was another day of great pitching by Frankie Saladino, Matthew Vowinkle & Adeel Bari. The hits made by Christopher Barulic, Jake Ginsberg & Antonio Prunella had the fans on their feet. The defense was strong with plays made by RJ Donohue & John Kilcullen. Not to be out done by their brothers Casey Donohue & Chris Kilcullen who also played great defense.
Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Rockies" Vs. Brancato "Rangers"
Defense and pitching led the Rockies on this night. Jack Mangin pitched a scoreless inning at crucial point in the game. Gregory Donovan stroke out 3 in this inning of work & Michael Husch showed some nifty glove work at 3rd base. The offense stayed aggressive, Jack Briamonte, Anthomy Lanzilotta, Chris Vietri & Jacob Leeds all had hits. James Colgan had a hit as well that came with a big RBI. The boys were scrambling on the base paths as Vincent Rossello 2 steals & Mark Niewierowski & Lou Plomitallo both scored runs.

Strong pitching turned in by Kyle Berlinsky who made his 1st start of the season and pitched very well. Andrew Greiche came in and pitched well and had a tremendous 1-2-3 4th inning. Zack Schriber came in and pitched very well to close the deal. Brett Baker, Gregory Kyro & Pranshu Babber flashed the leather with stellar defense. Leading off the game batting 1st was Michael Fiala who reached base and scored. Andrew Kadish made an excellent defensive play, singled, scored and had an RBI. There were solid hits by Brett Baker, Gregory Kyro & Zack Schreiber. Thanks to George Vlantis from the Lower Farms who had a hit and a RBI. Nice job George!

It was a slug fest from the 1st inning to the last. Both teams combined for a total of 28 runs. Contributing to the Phillies offense were Brendan Montenegro (3 Walks), Joshua Putter (3 Walks) these two have been eagle eyes at the plate. Also helping out the offense with several hits were Zeeshan Anwar, David Kimmel, Andrew Filocoma & Jordan Lempert. The defense was anchored by several good fielding plays turned in by Steven Cascio, Jack Belmonte, James Cotumaccio, Corey Rutkin, Nicholas Winkhart & Joshua Putter. Justin Roth made his pitching debut and turned in a solid pitching performance. Steven Cascio was awarded the game ball for his outstanding pitching. The Phillies need to work hard to continue there success!
Virgilio Chiropractic "Angels" Vs. Brancato "Rangers"
The hitting stars for the Angels were Jared Kossover (4 RBIs) & Michael Telsey (2 hits, 2 RBIs). Jared Schwartz, Peter Restivo & Eric Rennie set the table scoring a total of 8 runs. The pitching was led by an impressive 2 scoreless innings by Nick Campanella who wowed them with 5 K's. David Lapidus & Thomas Fitzgerald shined with their gloves and turned in a great play nailing a runner at home with a great throw (Thomas) and great catch/tag (David). They also had 2 RBIs each. Michael Lopez contributed by stretching a double into a triple and knocking in a run. Nick's great pitching earned him the game ball but it was a terrific team effort that led the Angels.

Vs. Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS, PC "Phillies"
The Brewers pitchers Yanni Rigos, Andrew Kraus, Andrew Krotinsky, Nick Zovich & Joe Dunn were outstanding allowing only 8 runs over the 6 innings played. Leading the offensive onslaught for the Brewers were Joe Dunn & Adam Krieger who both went 3 for 3 on the day and Nick Zovich who went 2 for 3. In the field, the Brewers had a shaky 5 error, 3rd inning. The 3rd inning proved to be the only negative on a day. Solid defensive performances and head's up play were recorded by Erik Jacklitsch, Anthony Kimkowski, Alexander Lutsky, Brendan Nolty & Justin Marder. The game ended on a beautifully executed double play by 3rd baseman Fancesco Labita, who made a difficult fly ball catch then tagged out an unsuspecting Phillies base runner, caught up in between 3rd base and home plate. Great Job Brewers!

Louis Plomitallo was one boy wrecking crew on Saturday for the Rockies. Louis had 2 grand slams, 3 runs scored & 2 scoreless innings pitched with 5 strike outs. Jack Briamonte & Chris Vietri kept their bats hot with a hit a piece. Runs were scored by Anthony Lanzilotta, Mark Niewierowski, Michael Husch & Jacob Leeds. Also, another big RBI came off the bat of James Colgan. The defense is starting to improve as Jack Mangin played a cool 3rd base & Vincent Rossello & Gregory Donovan shared duties all over the infield and behind the plate.

Vs. Ace Hardware "Marlins" (10)
In game in which both teams had trouble throwing strikes the Cardinals prevailed. The Cardinals did however make several excellent defensive plays beginning with a shoestring catch by leftfielder Mike Hershenhorn with the bases loaded. The Cardinals also threw out 3 players and almost a 4th at home plate by executing 3 perfect relays on several bombs off the bats of Marlin players. One play went from Jonathan Farkas to Dan Doreste to Tommy Murphy as he slapped the tag on the Marlin player in Bang, Bang, play! In another play with 2 outs the Cardinals again showed off the leather with Ben Portnoy throwing to Tommy Murphy who again slapped the tag on a Marlin player attempting to score. Brendan Quinn starred at the plate with a HR and a couple of RBI's along with a couple of key 2 out hits by Jonathan Farkas & Jacob Portnoy. Max Pau, Jacob Sidenberg, Mike Carbone all were on base every at bat and Jake Kennedy added a RBI single in 1st to get the offense going.

Hand Rolled Bagels "Pirates" Vs. F&F Roofing "Orioles"
The Orioles had some timely pitching from Brett Dieber, David Erlich and the curve/slurve pitch from Jeremy Bernstein. The hitting stars were Chris Cataldo who led off the game with a single and John Young who hit a towering fly ball double to knock him in. In the 4th Joseph Pagan worked out a lead off walk and was able to steal 2nd & 3rd & home to keep the Orioles in the game. Tommy La Bruna's great eye was able to get 2 walks and steal 2 bases. One key play on defense was when the Pirates had a runner on third who tried to steal home but a heads up play by Matthew Theodorpoulos stopped the runner cold. Other key contributors were Richard Husch, Robby Altheim, Zarachy, Shavolian & Harrison Dvoor. It was a total team EFFORT by the Orioles.

Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Mariners" Vs. Virgilio Chiropractic "Reds"
Mariners met the home Reds and Evan Clark started on the mound for the Mariners, followed by Brennan Scanlon as our closer. Each pitched a great game. Mariners catchers Brennan Scanlon, Evan Clark & Alex Cowen had their work cut out for them as a result of aggressive base running by the Reds. Several close plays at the plate, and throws to 2nd base had each dugout on their feet. In the field Sammy Weinbaum, Andrew Curcio, Jonathan Cioffi, Edik Imanov, Mike Zovich, Anthony D'Ammassa, Justin Kelly & Brad Rutkin all combined their efforts to slow down the Reds offense. Mariners' offense was propelled by Sam Weinbaum, Andrew Curcio, Evan Clark, Brad Rutkin, Jonathan Cioffi, Brennan Scanlon, Justin Kelly, Mike Zovich & Alex Cowen, combining several hits, walks, RBI's, & steals to squeak out a 7 to 5 win over the Reds. Great game boys!

The Blue Jays and Pirates squared off for the 2nd game of the home and home series and it was the pitchers time to shine. The combination of Liam Quinn, Jack Kimmel, Liam Slattery & Brandon Silva combined to shutdown the high powered Pirate lineup. Brandon, Liam & Alex Lopez brought in the runs. Daniel Cohen was on base all three times and scored a run. Akaash Ranu had a couple of solid hits to extend his hot hitting. Gary Huang, Andrew Waibel & Jayson Molina played solid defense but the gold glove goes to Jeffrey Gordon who snared a bullet to right center that had a 3 run homer written all over it. Great job Blue Jays!

Vs. Andrea LoRusso Pesari DC "Blue Jays"
The Pirates bats were silenced by the Blue Jays outstanding pitching and defense. The Pirates got solid pitching from Kyle Facibene & Brett Alper, but the offense could not get on track. Andrew Schneider & Griffin Adwar got hits but the Blue Jays were able to throw out 2 runners at home plate. Brandon Martinez & Jon Kestenbaum combined for a great play, catching a runner trying to score from second on a ground out.
April 22
Nuzzi Fuel "Red Sox" (10) Vs. Tin Alley Grill "Astros" (7)
Vinny Patrey led the Red Sox, with an excellent pitching performance, allowing only 1 run with 9 K's in the early innings. Patrey also contributed to a balanced Red Sox offense with 2 hits. Cooper Spector-Salwen & Joe Dimonte each had an extra base-hit which drove in a number of Red Sox runs, and Jake Grusd, Joe Tricarico & Ethan Volk all had timely singles. Michael Barry scored 2 runs and Tom Kelly reached base twice, scoring once, while Ethan Schonhaut & Matt Esposito each had 1 run batted in. Meanwhile, the Red Sox got some fine defensive play from outfielder Ryan Tucker & 1st baseman Mitch Schwartz, who threw out the Astros' lead-off runner on a key play in the game's final inning.
Hand Rolled Bagel "Pirates" Vs. Gigi Italian Restaurant "Mariners"
The Pirates bounced back from the shut out loss to the Blue Jays with a spirited 11-1 win over the Mariners. The Pirates jumped out to a 10 run lead after 2 innings with help from Andrew Schneider, Griffin Adwar, Derek Menker, Tim McCormack & Mohammed Ali Kidwai. Great defensive plays by Griffin Adwar, Colton Schnall, Mitch Cohen, Kyle Facibene , Jon Kestenbaum, Brett Alper & Brandon Martinez were rally stoppers. Despite the score it was the defense that won the game as the Mariners Brendan Scanlon set down 9 of the 11 Pirates he faced on strikes over the last 3 innings.

The K. Of C. # 2852 "Road Warriors" Vs. The Wilson Elser "Ducks"
The Road Warriors tacked on their 2nd win out scoring the Ducks 8-3. Fran & Brian R. continue with their hot bats. Bryan D. had a nice hit along with Alex who hit a triple and scored a run. To shut the offense down we brought in Nick P. Mark did another great job behind the plate. We brought in Kevin who had an assist & put out with an attempted steal of home plate. The other defense players where Nick S. showing great skills at short stop position Matt, Brendan and Jonathon doing great in the outfield. Keep up the good work boys.

It was a tough game for the River Sharks. There wasn't a lot of hitting but Josh and Dylan had a good game at bat. Good fielding by Joe, Ralph, Harrison, Sam and Aaron. Good pitching by Vinnny, Steve, Denes, and Ben. Keep up the hard work River Sharks!

Wilson Elser "Ducks" (12) Vs. ABC Rental "River Sharks" (5)
The Ducks win a thriller 12-5 in a comeback victory. The Ducks were certainly flying together today, when they mounted their offensive onslaught of epic proportions after falling behind 4-0. In the third inning, Logan Diamond got things started with a single. Chris Ferlazzo singled him to 2nd, and Brendan Lum walked. Ryan Marder drove in the Ducks 1st run on a laser to center, and quickly stole 2 bases. Chris then stole home. Steve Popovich singled to drive in another, then Paul Reo crushed a blast to center for a 2 run homer. In the 4th, Paul Goebel led off with a hit. Chris popped another single & Ross Hoffman drove in a run with a clutch single to left. Brendan cracked a single & Ryan drove in 2 more with his 2nd hit of the game. Steve Popovich blasted a triple to plate 2 more Ducks, and if that wasn't enough, Paul Reo smacked his second HR of the game to give the Ducks a commanding 12-4 lead. Matt Zeiger took some nice swings and made a nifty play at 3rd to save a run. Great game Ducks!

Daniel Schwartz, Daniel Schwartz, Daniel Schwartz. Remember the name. Once inside the Merillon grounds the nice guy disappears and he is all business. His 4 innings of precise pitching & allowing only 4 hits while striking out 7 batters. Supporting him on the field was Stephen Farkas in center netting everything coming his way. Matt Hirshon, Philip Gonzalez & Brett Kleinberg flashed some leather as well. 3rd baseman Michael Xia gets the web gem of the day for a spectacular play showing incredible range.
