Dennett Law Offices "Power Puffs"
Katie Belmonte continues to swing a good bat. She sees the ball real well off the T and runs the bases real good. Daniella Connor continues to improve with her hitting. We call her lefty. Today, she practiced a lot with her fielding & throwing and playing the field. Isabella Fazzolari continues to excel in hitting, fielding & throwing. She shows real good skills in catching & throwing the ball. Una is a real smart baseball player. She hits the ball real well off the T. She always makes good contact with the ball. She played the field today making some good catches & throws. She is a real team player. Eleni Polichronakis played for the first time this year. She picked up all aspects of the game real fast and joined in the fun with her teammates.
Broadway Plaza Hotel "TEAM #1" Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Mets"
It was a bright, sunny and cold Saturday morning when the Mets took the field. The gloves came alive right away with a 1st inning put out by Christopher Kerrane. There was great fielding by Robbie Booth, Jason Biviano and Jordan Chin. The Mets put on a fine display of hitting with big strokes from Justin Kuzler, Stephen Farishian and Timon Chow. "Let's go

It was a great day at the yard for instructional team # 6. Today was our first game. Christopher, CJ & Matthew made great plays on the field. We also had great hitting from Dave, Nicholas and Garrison. Team # 6 would like to welcome Jonathan, just added to our roster today. It was truly a great day, for baseball!\
Virgilio Chiropractic "Giants"
The Giants had a great day & all 13 players were present for the workout and game. The team looks committed to playing good ball. In a pre-game fielding drill, fielding/throwing standouts included Jordan Seidenberg, Jason Beeferman, Sam Chiche, Eric Madenberg, and Tim Lee, who also made a fine infield assist in the game that followed. That contest featured strong hitting by Jake Raphael, Ryan Singer, and Spencer Kern. Jake Blancher and Dylan Kareff also showed some early season power. Sam Ugolini and Spencer Horowitz were solid fielders at the pitchers mound. Philip Menist got to infiltrate the opposing dugout for one at-bat and reported back on their hitters' tendencies. All players are already showing some strong improvement and the team looks forward to next week.
Wilson, Elser "Dodgers"
The Dodgers opened their season in grand fashion. Swinging their bats well early in the season are Franceso Stigliano, Peter Vayias and Christoper Bruccoleri. The team's defense shows promise with Nicloas Ryan at 1st, Bailey Lee at 2nd and Matthew Ryan in Left. Rounding out the squad with some speed on the base paths are Joseph Griffin and Christain Vincente.

Wilson, Elser "Roadsters" Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Thunder"
Stutzmann Funeral Home Thunder took on the Roadsters in their home opener. The brutal cold forced the match-up to go only 4 innings. Pitchers Maggie McHale and Emily DeMeo threw 2 innings each, but the Roadsters bats were too hot, scoring 14 runs in all. Abby Sollecito and Victoria Pilosi did a fine job behind the plate. Other strong defense came from Emilee Abel, Nicole Rossello, Caitlin Mahon, Kiera Ward and Laura Roantree. On offense, Ally Barilli had a stolen base and Kayla Buff singled with an RBI. Sabrina Posadas, Amanda DiMaria and Carolyn DiMaria, all playing their rookie season, each had a hit. But the Thunder only managed to push across 3 runs. The bats were quiet, temperatures were freezing and oh...did I mention it was Friday the 13th? Good effort girls!
Wilson, Elser "Roadsters" Vs. Stutzmann Funeral Home "Thunder"
Opening night was cold and windy! The Roadsters came out of the gate fast against a determined Thunder squad. The Roadsters received sparkling starting pitching from Lauren Pomerantz & lights out relief from Carly Hirshon. Rachel Warner was like a cat behind the dish. The Roadsters' hit their way to their first victory, Led by Carly Hirshon with 3 hits(1B, 2B, 3B,) & 2 hits a piece from Lauren Pomerantz, Hally Silberg. Brianna Simeoli, Ana Lopez Alanna Fichtel and Emily Nitzberg all had 1 hard hit. The defense was strong, displayed by Josette Molina, Christina Talarico, Camila Dilone and Rachel Kavanaugh. I am proud of the way both teams played under extremely adverse weather conditions, and special thanks go to the parents of both teams who helped coach during the game. Go Roadsters.

Stutzmann Funeral Home Thunder v. Glen Oaks
Under clear skies and crisp temperatures, Glen Oaks played host to the Stutzmann Funeral Home Thunder. Kayla Buff started on the mound for the Thunder and pitched three solid innings. Nicole Rossello took over in the 4th and hurled the remaining 3 frames. Impressive defensive plays by Carolyn DiMaria at 3rd, Caitlin Mahon at 2nd and Emilee Abel at short. Maggie McHale and Amanda DiMaria shared duties behind the plate. Victoria Pilosi and Kiera Ward were solid in the OF. Ally Barilli, Amanda DiMaria, Abby Sollecito and Emily DeMeo all had a RBI but the 4 runs were no where near enough to keep it close, dropping the Thunder to 0-2. Practice, Practice, Practice, girls!

Virgillio Chiropractic "Angels" vs. Dennett Law Offices "Cardinals"
The Angels and Cardinals met on a frigid Saturday afternoon. While a strong Cardinals pitching staff kept the depleted Angels' team at bay most of the game they were able to break through in the 3rd with clutch RBIs by Ryan O'Hare and Nick Campanella. The Angels pitching was led by another strong effort by David Lapidus who pitched 2 scoreless innings. The great defense of Jared Schwartz throughout the game and his toughness after getting hit twice on a cold day earned him the game ball. Thomas Fitzgerald, Eric Rennie and Michael Telsey all turned in strong all around performances. The Angels thank George Vlantis for coming up from the Lower Farms to help them out.
The "Dr. Margaret Zadnik,DDS,PC " Phillies" (9) Vs. The Ace Hardware "Marlins"(9)
On a very cold evening for baseball, the fans were treated to a tremendous game. The game came down to the last at bat when Nick Winkhart hit a sharp single in the hole to drive in 3 runs to tie the game and that's the way it ended. The star of the game was Jordan Lempert, who pitched two strong innings and stuck out five batters, he was awarded the game ball for his great pitching. Also making his pitching debut was Steven Cascio, who did a great job. The Phillies offense was lead by James Cotumaccio (2 hits), Thomas Agate, and David Kimmel, each had one hit. Jack Belmonte had the at bat of the game when he went deep in the count and was hit by a pitch to keep the rally alive. The defense was anchored by the play of Justin Roth, Brendan Montenegro, Andrew Filocoma, & Joshua Putter. The catching duties were handled by Zeeshan Anwar & Corey Rutkin. A special thanks goes to Mr. Agate for his help with the pitching staff and Mr. Lempert for his help as bench coach.

Ace Hardware "Marlins" Vs. The Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS PC" Phillies"
The Ace Hardware Marlins and the Phillies played a spirited game, with both teams excelling in hitting, pitching and fielding. The Marlins hitting attack was paced by Slater Dvoor and David West who each reached base 3 times. Jake Raher reached base twice and stole 2 bases. Cameron Pon, Tyler Baron, Reid Alper and Domenick Petrizi each banged out hits. Peter Tagios pitched a scoreless inning. Richie Glasser and Michael Varrone were solid in the field. The Marlins keep improving each game.
The Fundamentals of Ball "White Sox" Vs. The City Line Florist "Indians"
The White Sox and Indians played a second consecutive game under frigid conditions. The White Sox offense was slightly off because of the cold but the defense continued to improve. Both teams played to completion with enthusiasm.

The White Sox and Angels were happy to have a warm weather game for a change. Pitchers Matthew Lee, Landon Phillips, Nicholas Polichronakis, Dylan Silverstein, and Tyler Weiss wowed with their arms. Smart solid defense and offensive pop were also supplied by everyone...including Joshua Lee, Rasul Rahman, Sean Moran, Shin Oka, Ishan Handa, and a super fill-in Adeel Bari.

The Angels and White Sox met on a warmer Saturday afternoon. The Angels' hitting was led by Peter Restivo and Jake Guggenheimer who both knocked in runs. David Lapidus and Ryan O' Hare helped set the table by getting on base and stealing 2 bases each. Michael Lopez with 5 K's in two strong innings led the pitching. Thomas Fitzgerald anchored the staff throwing the last inning for the Angels. The defense was led by Nick Campanella, Michael L and Christian Carrick. Peter also made a great catch running down a shot to the outfield. Michael Telsey, Jared Schwartz and Jared Kossover also contributed all around games. Game ball to Michael L.

Brancato "Rangers" Vs The Dr. Margaret Zadnik, DDS PC "Phillies
The Rangers came out slugging this week led by "THE BIG BAMBINO" Giuseppie Loduca (3Hits, 4 RBI's, 1 SB), Jack Sherman (2 Hits, 1 RBI, 1 SB), Phillip Silverstein (3Hits, 2 RBI's, 2 SB) & Johnathan Brancato (2 Hits, 1RBI). The Rangers were anchored by awesome defense by Dante Gargiulo in right field, Eric Gonzalez at Catcher & 2b, Cole Romano and Zachary Leventhal at 1B. Also contributing on both sides of the field to this great day for the Rangers were Matthew Mastoridis (3B/P), Jay Korman (2B/OF), Gregory Schultz (OF/SS) and Ben Cradin (OF/SS). The Coaching Staff would like to thank Chris Mastoridis and Gary Silverstein for their help with the hitters and Pitching Staff. Let's Go Rangers.
The New Hyde Park Funeral Home "Diamondbacks" Vs. Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Rockies"
The Rockies gave us all we could handle with a very potent offense. Player of the game was Harris Monoson. Harris pitched 2 scoreless innings and almost hit for the cycle with a single, double and a HR. Strong pitching turned in by Brett Baker to start the game. Excellent defense turned in by Nicolas Favale, Matty Lorandini and Jack Nuttall. Gregory Kyro, Pranshu Babber, Andrew Kadish and Kyle Berlinsky all scored runs. Solid games were turned in by Andrew Greiche and Michael Fiala. Our tough defense turned in 2 inning ending double plays executed by Nicolas Favale, Matty Lorandini and Gregory Kyro.

On a great morning for baseball, the Phillies came out slugging with the hitting of Justin Roth and James Cotumaccio each with 3 hits and Jordan Lempert and David Kimmel with 2 hits apiece. Also contributing to the offense were Brendan Montenegro (3 Walks) and Jack Belmonte (2 Walks) and Steven Cascio (1 Walk). The real storyline of the game was the success of the Phillies pitching staff. Corey Rutkin made his pitching debut and was stingy giving up runs. Then Zeeshan Anwar made his pitching debut, striking out 5 Ranger hitters, which earned him the game ball. The middle relief was handed over to Andrew Filocoma. Then the coaching staff handed the ball to closer Nick Winkhart who retired the Rangers 1,2,3 with 3 K's. Let's Go Phillies!
Mike's NHP Convenience Store "Rockies" Vs. The New Hyde Park Funeral Home "Diamondbacks"
The Rockies played catch up all day versus the Diamondbacks & got a clutch 2 run single from Gregory Donovan to tie up the game in the 5th inning. However, it wasn't enough as the Dbacks won. The Rockies also got big RBI's from Jack Briamonte (2) & one from Jacob Leeds & Christopher Vietri. Vincent Rossello swiped 4 bases and Michael Husch had a key double during the comeback attempt. The pitching was strong led by Anthony Lanzilotta's scoreless inning and Jack Mangin's 2 innings with 6 K's. The defense had strong play from James Colgan at 1st and Louis Plomitallo behind the plate.
Dennett Law Offices "Cardinals" 12 Vs. . Ridgewood Savings Bank Giants 4
The Cardinals played there best game of the season. The Cardinals received 2 great plays in the field, one from Ben Portnoy who made a spectacular diving catch and got up to complete the double play and another from Anthony Verde who made a running catch in centerfield to rob a giant player of at least a sure extra base hit. The Cardinals scored 8 of there runs with 2 outs on key hits from Mike Hershenhorn & Anthony Verde and a grand slam HR run from Dan Doreste. Tommy Murphy started on the mound and was dominate as he set the pace for the game. Other key at bats from Jacob Portnoy, Jacob Seidenberg Max Pau who all started a 4 run rally after 2 outs.

Tin Alley Grill "Astros" Vs. Nuzzi Fuel "Red Sox"
The Tin Alley Astros faced a primed Red Sox squad this past Monday night in their second game of the season. No surrender pitching efforts were turned in by Teddy Z, T.J. Kemmet and Pete Dunn who also delivered at bat by smashing a shot to right field.. Although it was a chilly night with the temperature hovering around 40 degrees, the temps did not stop Ben Lee (SS, 1B), Peter Ferrante(2B, RF), Mike Fiorella(2B, RF) and Steve Telsey (1B, LF) from making some nice defensive efforts in the field. Mike Kemmet, who smacked a beautiful line drive to center, was joined by Tom Fong & Aaron Hamooz who put forth tough at bat's. Great game guys!
Nuzzi Fuel "Red Sox" Vs. Tin Alley Grill "Astros"
The Red Sox scored a convincing victory over the Astros, with Joseph Dimonte hitting a grand-slam & Cooper Spector-Salwen blasting a 3 run HR for the Red Sox. Boston also received 2 hits apiece from Tom Kelly and Ethan Schonhaut while Mitch Schwartz got on base 3 times, & scored 3 runs. Also contributing were Ethan Volk, who scored 2 runs, and Michael Barry, Joe Tricarico, Matt Esposito, Jake Grusd and Craig Schmid, all of whom scored 1 run apiece. Meanwhile, the Red Sox defense received 3 excellent innings of starting pitching from Vinny Patrey.
Andrea LoRusso-Pesiri, DC "Blue Jays" 11Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Pirates" 2
The Blue Jays continued their hot start in the cold weather taking on the Pirates. The Blue Jays continued their torrid hitting as Gary Huang and Brandon Silva each homered. Brandon's being his 2nd in 2 games. Akaash Ranu, Jayson Molina and Jack Kimmel were on base all night and combined to score 5 runs. Liam Slattery's starting pitching continues to set the tone, pitching 2 shutout innings against a well-balanced Pirate line-up. Alex Lopez had a hit and also had a steal of home. The defense continues to shine led by the sure hands of Liam Quinn at 1st base and Dan Cohen at 3rd base. Thanks to call up Brendan Quinn who was greeted on his first AB with a HBP and came around to score as well and also thanks to all the parents for hanging in there on a very cold night.

Gigi's Italian Restaurant " Mariners" Vs. Nuzzi Fuel " Red Sox"
The Mariners came out strong defensively for the 1st three innings. On the mound Brennan Scanlon pitched brilliantly with 6 strike outs. Jonathan Cioffi pitched a great 1& 1/3 innings, while fighting through a sore arm in cold weather. Evan Clark's pitching debut for the 2007 was in relief of Jonathan & his performance was superb! Andrew Curcio did an excellent job of persevering through the hot bats of the Red Sox. The Mariners Bats were alive with a triple by Brennan Scanlon, 2 singles by Alex Cowen, singles by Sean O'Hare, Evan Clark, and Giovanni Castelli. Walks were drawn by Anthony D'Ammassa, Andrew Curcio, Justin Kelly, and Brad Rutkin. Notable fielding plays by Anthony D'Ammassa, catching a high pop up, Brennan Scanlon, Alex Cowen, Giovanni Castelli, Edik Imanov, Sean O'Hare, Mike Zovich, and Justin Kelly, held back the Red Sox. An outstanding effort was given by our catchers Evan Clark, Brad Rutkin, and Alex Cowen. The won a well played game 11 to 8.

The Red Sox were leading the Mariners, 11-8, when the game was suspended on account of darkness with the Mariners batting, and threatening to score, in the bottom of the fifth inning. Boston was losing, 6-0, and launched a big comeback behind the hitting of Cooper Spector-Salwen, who had 2 HR's, including a grand slam. Mitch Schwartz and Tom Kelly each had 2 hits to contribute to the offense, which also received a lift from Jake Grusd's sacrifice fly, which drove in a run late in the game. Vinny Patrey & Ryan Tucker reached base every time they came to the plate and both scored 2 runs for Boston, as well. The defensive highlight was a running catch by Ethan Volk in right field. It kept the Mariners from getting an extra base hit when they were rallying early in the game.

ABC Rental "River Sharks" Vs. 7 Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" - 6
Another game played on a cold day for the River Sharks. The boys gave great effort in this close ballgame. Great hitting was displayed by Aaron, Steve, Denes, Ralph & Ben. Expert fielding was shown by Harrison & Belvin. Great pitching was performed by Vinny, Stephen, & Joe. Finally, thanks to John and Liam who filled in for our vacationing players in our first two games. Good Job River Sharks!

Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" Vs. The K. Of C. # 2852 "RoadWarriors"
The Cyclones won their first game of the young season, defeating the well coached, hard hitting Road Warriors. Jake Phillips and Joe Carbone lead the hitting charge. Jake had 3 hits! Joe had a big 3 run homer! Jonah Mittler and Dominico Fazzolari covered the outfield. Michael Glaser did the catching, and handled the pitching perfectly! Andrew Pugliese scored 2 runs. Michael Ring had a hit and a walk. Ryan Gaitan played a smooth infield. But the tone of the game was set by Christopher Rivera. Chris pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball! Adrian Kwan made a game saving catch in center field ! Domenick Fazzolari , showed a lot of heart, by pitching out of a 6th inning jam! Special thanks to Peter Loduca, who coached first base, and kept the Cyclone base runners alert! Thanks to both teams, for a fun night of baseball!
The K. Of C. # 2852 "Roadwarrioirs" vs. The Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones"
The Roadwarriors fell short to the Cyclones with a score of 10-6. Matt led the rally in the fourth inning with a single , Brian R. hit a double and Nick P. hit a triple with an RBI. Alex and Brendan had 2 critical walks . Fran hit a triple and Nick S. knocked in a run. Our defense was tough especially Bryan D. , Trevor , Kevin and Mark . The boys were all troopers on a cold night. We'll get them next time boys!

Wilson, Elser "Ducks" 3 Vs. K of C #2852 "Road Warriors" 8
Super effort was given by all the Ducks in an 8-3 defeat to a strong Road Warriors squad. Playing short handed once again, the Ducks persevered and more than held their own throughout the game. All the Ducks - Chris Ferlazzo, Logan Diamond, Steven Popovich, Paul Reo, Ross Hoffman, Brendan Lum, Matt Zeiger, Troy Driscoll, and Paul Goebel - gave their all in every at bat, and played some pretty defense. Pitchers Steven and Brendan combined to whiff 13 Road Warrior players. Great game Ducks!
J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Pride" 7 Vs. ABC Tool Rental "Riversharks" 1
The Pride earned their first victory of the season with an electrifying performance by each player. Philip Gonzalez sparked a 6 run rally in the 3rd with a beautiful bunt base hit, followed by Michael Xia who smoked a triple to the left field fence in .03 seconds. Also contributing to the rally were Brett Kleinberg and Max Ginsberg with good at bats. The big blow was delivered by Daniel Schwartz with a HR to right center that is still going. Stellar performance was give at first base by Evan Rabinowitz. Pat Theo made it look easy behind the plate, stealing strikes and keeping runners in check. The gold glove of the day goes to Matt Hirshon who was a vacuum at third. Joey Richards showed up with his bag of tricks and pitched for 2 scoreless innings. Danny Luchino dominated on the hill striking out 9 batters in 4 innings and received the game ball with cheers from his teammates. Way to Go Pride!
Stutzman Funeral Home "Bears" (4) vs Broadway Plaza Hotel "Cyclones" (2)
The weather final broke and the boys on both teams came out to play. Travis Finkel pitched 2 strong innings and played several defensive positions. Travis also smoked the ball during his first at bat and came home twice as the lead-off man. John Leva went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs & stole home. Michael Courtney anchored the team at several defensive positions. Michael also came in and pitched the top of the 6th inning earning the save and helping the Bears secure a win. Jordan Grossman pitched 2 scoreless innings proving that he will be one of the Bears aces. Nicholas Driscoll stroked 2 balls toward the right side of the field and came in for an insurance run. Daniel Coster playing 3rd base snagged a shot up the line and threw out the runner for an important out. Matthew Ryan came in at the top of the 5th inning & pitched a scoreless inning. Matthew Perno, Thomas Jaklitsch, Benjamin Manning and Anthony Stacom played strong defense keeping the other team at bay. Overall, both teams played strong fundamental baseball.
