At the last meeting of the Williston Park Village, Trustee Ann Marie Smith announced that there would be an Easter Egg Hunt at 12:30 p.m. in Kelleher Park. All are invited. Just bring along a basket to collect the eggs.

It was also announced that the Moonlight Cruise will be held on July 27 this year and it was suggested that all residents make reservations early for this popular event. Call village hall for further information at 746-2193.

In other matters at the meeting Village Clerk Walter Moloughney announced that the village was in the process of awarding a bid to the lowest bidder to start work on the road construction of York Place.

Deputy Mayor Ronald Saporita took over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Lud Odierna. He read over the list of bills and then went right to his report.

Saporita said that a long-term plan was presented by the Long-Term Planning Committee and the Finance Committee in conjunction with D'Virka and Bartilucci at the beginning of March. He said many of the comments of the residents have been incorporated into the plan and it is being studied by D'Virka and Bartilucci and the entire plan will then be presented to the entire village sometime in May.

Saporita said that the village has been working with the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) to amend the village's application so that both roadwork and engineering fees would be paid for by the grant.

He said the village has advertised for consultants, which is the first step in the process, and on April 16 a committee will review the applicant's qualifications and select the most qualified. Saporita pointed out that nothing could go forward until the DOT gives approval of the village amended application.

Deputy Mayor Saporita also announced that the Boy Scouts will hold a Court of Honor for the following Eagle Scouts: Richard Redding, Nicholas and Benamin Aquanno and Joseph Yatco to be held at 1 p.m. at St. Aidan's Msgr. Kerwin Hall.

Deputy Mayor Saporita said that the Water Board will be meeting probably in early April and will then move forward on discussions for the coming year. Saporita said that the board has received the budgets from all of the various departments and they are moving forward to prepare a budget for the new year. Trustee Dunn reported that Justice Alan Reardon heard 219 cases, collecting fines of $10, 605 with a surcharge of $920. Justice Edward Emanuel heard 38 collecting fines of $1,725 with a surcharge of $390.

The Williston Park Little League will hold its annual parade on April 21 to start at 10:30 a.m. at Cross Street and Hillside to end at Kelleher Field.

Trustee Dunn also presented an application for the Williston Park Fire Department for Robert Bernardas and it was approved.

Trustee Mills asked for a motion from the board to increase the pool attendants and lifeguard salaries to the new minimum wage. It was approved and then Mills announced that 92 days were left until the pool will be open.

Trustee Smith asked that residents be considerate and pick up after their dogs.

The code enforcers issued 313 summons and the police report was not available.

Attorney Richard Reers announced that meetings with Verizon are ongoing, final stages are close and a written agreement will be filed soon; a public notice will be published and a public hearing will be heard.

Code enforcers are in the process of being trained. He also announced that O'Brien's Bar plans to challenge the denial of the expansion of the bar by the village and will be put before the courts.

He also said that Riverbay owners have met with the Williston Park Building Inspector Collins and there will be a meeting set up in April for them to also meet with deputy mayor Ronald Saporita.

Supervisor Keith Burnell thanked the residents who moved their cars during the ice storm.

Inspector Collins said that the cars left on the street made for very terrible conditions during the ice storms. He said, "If you see that your neighbor has left his car on the street just knock on his door and tell him to please move the car, maybe he's new and doesn't know. Park on the lawn, whatever. The nice weather is coming so please comply with our rules."

When the meeting was open to the public, the board was questioned as to why tickets were not issued for not removing cars on the street.

Clerk Moloughney explained that there is a law in the village that says only when it snows can cars be ticketed if not moved. He said the board will revisit that law because what the village had this last time was what he called "snice."

The meeting ended and the next meeting will be held on April 16 at 8 p.m. at the Williston Park Village Hall, 494 Willis Avenue, Williston Park.
