Opinion

I just visited our brand new Hillside Public Library, but was shocked to see that no painted pedestrian crosswalk or blinking lights or signs are in place. Library patrons have no safety measures whatsoever to cross Lakeville Road from the parking lot. Common sense dictates that this is taken care of immediately. Who is responsible for this? The Town of North Hempstead? Who can initiate action, the Village of New Hyde Park? The library administration? I am very sure that many others are thinking or saying the same thing. Let's not wait for a tragedy before addressing this issue.
