The New Hyde Park Cyclones hosted a Columbus Day Tournament at Nuzzi Field and it was exciting. There was great weather, lots of food, fans and plenty of baseball.
The games and playoffs led up to an unbelievable finale. The Cyclones' teamwork was incredible. Offense, defense and lots of heart kept them in the running and they really showed up to win. The nail-biting championship game went down to the last out against a tough contender. The pitching was stellar, the bats were hot and everyone had a hand in the win.
The coaches, George, Val, Carl and manger Harry, did a terrific job. And the players, in alphabetical order because they were all at their best, Andrew, Anthony (Triple B), Chris (Pudge), Cory (Big Poppy-MVP), Jimmy, John, Matt, Ryan (Sako), Ryan (Sheridon), Sean, Steven and Val - Awesome!
Thanks to the team, the coaches, the parents, family, friends, fans and Deputy Mayor Coppola for cheering us on and handing out the trophies. Can't wait until next year's tournament!
