I am pleased to once again invite you and your family to a Family Health Fair that I am sponsoring in cooperation with the North Shore-LIJ Health System on Nov. 19 at the Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park from 1 to 4 p.m.
Last year, more than 750 people in our community attended the health fair and took advantage of the wonderful array of medical services provided by the health system's highly regarded professional staff. They were able to get a series of health screenings without spending weeks going from doctor to doctor. And there was no bill for the screenings.
The Nov. 19 health fair will feature free adult health screenings and up-to-date health information throughout the day. Senior citizens will be able to get their flu and/or pneumonia shots free of charge while those between the ages of 21 and 65 will pay a nominal charge. Whole Foods Market of Manhasset will once again provide complimentary refreshments and Poland Spring will donate bottled water.
New this year are child car seat check-ups (limited appointments can be made by calling 465-2607) and grandparents' guide to child care safety. Representatives from the state comptroller's office will also be available to help conduct personal searches for unclaimed funds in your name.
This year's health fair will not feature the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles due to scheduling problems. Instead, I have arranged for the Mobile Outreach Van to be at the Great Neck Senior Citizen Center on Dec 6.
I look forward to seeing you. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Special Projects Coordinator Judi Bosworth in my office at 482-6966. Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli
