Wizard of Oz Float; David, Jessica Fliegel All Homecoming Winners
The parade route was lined with interested spectators, most of them alumni, as the New Hyde Park Memorial 2006 Homecoming Parade stepped off last Saturday on a windy, brisk, but sunny day. There was some confusion about the time, since the SATs were thrown into the mix but it was worth the wait as the parade turned the corner onto Leonard Boulevard, past the high school and it was strike up the band and that energized the crowd.

Former Garden City Park Fire/Water Superintendent Sweeney Arrested
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced this morning that John Sweeney, 54, the former Superintendent of the Garden City Park Water & Fire District, has been charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Defrauding the Government, and Official Misconduct in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 from the district during his tenure as superintendent.

NHP Cyclones Blast the Three Village Yankees
The NHP Cyclones continued their winning ways in the NJBL this Fall. The Cyclones traveled to Stony Brook to play the Three Village Yankess. Game One started slow at first but the Cyclones scored one run in the second. Nick Andali knocked in David Velasquez to start the scoring. In the top of the fourth the Cyclones scored 3 more runs. RBI singles by JT O'Callaghan (2) and Gibron Gurayah (1). The Cyclones scored one more in the 6th and five runs in the 7th. Alex Fabian threw a complete game one hitter. Excellent defense by Dillon Popovich and Chris Longoria. The final score NHP Cyclones 10 and the Yankees 1. In Game Two the Cyclones really came to hit. Kevin Caladas went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's, Josh Betton went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Kenneth Wilcox also went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's. Starting pitcher Robert Wisnewski went five strong innings ( 5K's and 3 hits ) and Gibron Gurayah closed out the game with one scoreless inning. The final score in the Cyclones favor 13-3. The NHP Cyclones will be home this weekend at Tully Field on Sunday October 22 at 1:30 vs. the South Fork Sharks from Montauk.
