Last week's debate between Democrat candidates for governor Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi and New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer showed that, despite both being Democrats who have a proven record in their present positions, the two candidates have their share of differences.

New Hyde Park Village Sets September 30 for Annual Street Fair
At the last meeting of the New Hyde Park Village Board it was announced that Sept. 30 is the date set for the Annual Street Fair, one of the largest and most attended fairs in the area. The fair will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 4 or 5 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 1. Anyone who would like to place a booth at the fair, please contact New Hyde Park Village Clerk/Treasurer Patrick Farrell at 354-0022 who is in charge of the fair.

Merillon Little League Summer Scores
Not one but two Merillon Teams recently became District #28 Champions! Winning the District is a rare and major accomplishment and we are all extremely proud of both teams, managers, coaches and players. On behalf of the Merillon Board of Directors we send our congratulations to Manager Jimmy Richards of the 9 & 10-Year-Old All Stars and Co-Mangers Al Pugliese and Joe Renta of the 10 & 11-Year-Old All Stars, and to their assistant coaches, and especially the players for both teams. Way to go boys!
