New Hyde Park Memorial High School held its 50th anniversary celebration last Sunday and as the ceremony began the sun broke through and cleared up what had been three straight days of miserable dampness, fog and rain.

Water Authority Board Approves to Raise Rates by 7.56 Percent
At its May 30th meeting, the board of directors of the Water Authority of Western Nassau County approved a 7.56 percent increase in water rates after approving the 2006-07 Operating and Capital Plans. The rate increase, effective June 1, 2006, was required to provide the revenue necessary to offset increases in power, chemical and construction costs.

Merillon Little League Scores
Despite a willingness to play through some bad weather, the Braves and Yankees were cut short in their game this afternoon by a hard driving rainstorm. The Braves players looked good at the plate in each of their one at-bats they were able to take, scoring 4 runs in the 1st and a few in the 2nd before the skies opened. Thanks to all of the players (on both teams) for trying to get as much of the game in as possible, and we look forward to better weather for our next game.
