Herricks Resident Questions Tax Exemption for Volunteers
At the outset of the last Herricks School Board meeting a resident questioned an item on the agenda entitled "Tax Exemption for Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers with 20 Years Active Service." The resolution goes on to state, "The Board of Education hereby adopts Chapter No. 261 of the New York Real Property Tax Laws, to provide an exemption from taxation to the extent of 10 percent of the assessed value of real property to volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers who have accrued more than 20 years of active service."
