New Hyde Park Memorial Baseball is proud that three of its graduating seniors will be playing college baseball. Tom Farina is a three year starter, a two year award winner, and winner of the NAILS award. This award is presented to the hardest working player in the program. Farina will be playing for New Jersey Institute of Technology which is a Division II program and majoring in engineering. According to their Head Coach Brian Callahan, Farina will play right field or DH.
Senior Ryan Campson will be attending Castletown College in Vermont which is a Division III baseball program. Campson was a two year award winner at New Hyde Park and will major in physical education. Graduating senior John Carydes was All-League this season after hitting .386. Carydes was invited to walk on at New York Institute of Technology Division I baseball program in Old Westbury. To play at the next level these three players have dedicated themselves to a lot of hard work.
Other New Hyde Park alumni who are currently playing college baseball include: Frank Sonnenberg (junior), NYIT; Rinaldo Fable (senior), Adelphi; Chris Lewandowski (junior), Adelphi; Tony Russo (junior), Queens College, and Mike Flynn (senior, St. Thomas Aquinas. Next season should be no different. Some of the seniors have the potential to follow the same path and further their careers athletically and academically.
