Belmont Jockeys Once Again Brighten Ronald McDonald House
Once again the Belmont jockeys participating in the 137 running of the Belmont Stakes unselfishly gave up their time to come, as they have for at least the last ten years, to spend time with the children and the families of Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.

Eileen Prevete Receives the Distinguished Service Award
Eileen Prevete deservedly received the PTA Distinguished Service Award for her dedication and devotion to the Manor Oaks PTA during the time she has been involved in the organization. Prevete could be seen, with camera in hand, at every event snapping pictures of the students, teachers and faculty and then getting them, without delay, to The Illustrated News so that they could receive newspaper coverage in a timely fashion. At times the weather was inclement in one way or the other, but that did not stop Prevete from achieving her goal of making sure that the Manor Oaks PTA events were visible to the public.

Merillon Little League Scores
On a hot Sunday afternoon the Twins took on a very tough Nationals team. The game featured great defense and strong hitting on both sides. For the Twins Russ Rahman, Joshua Lee, Connor McDermott, Matthew Lee & Dean Mattioli provided the power each with 3 hits. While Reid Alper & Evan Mattioli each made great run saving catches. In the end the Nationals defense proved too strong, holding the Twins to only 5 runs in delivering a 10-5 defeat.
