NHP Funeral Home Padres Vs.

Kiwanis Club of New Hyde Park Nationals

Guiseppe LoDuca was back and had 4 hits and 2 doubles as he and Matthew Ambrosio who had a 5 for 5 game, led the Padres' offense. Vincent Rossello had 3 hits and 2 doubles also. Matthew Bateman and Antonio Prunella had 4 hits as both stayed hot! Also, with multiple hit games was Matthew Vowinkle, Kyle Waible, Gregory Donovan, Justin Roth and Jacob Leeds. It was a hard hitting game played by both teams.

Celtic Corner Pub and Grub Yankees Vs. Baxter's Sport Shop Cubs

The Celtic Corner Pub Yankees continued their excellent play against a strong opponent in the Cubs. The hitting stars were Michael Hershenhorn, Christian Carrick and John Compton who each banged out three hits. The defense sparkled with fielding gems by Slater Dvoor, Andrew Colgan and Big Joe Dunn. Michael Varrone and Peter Tagios were strong again in all phases of the game.

Vincent Rossello's 4 hits led the hot Padres, on a hot Sunday. Defensive gems were turned in by Jacob Leeds, Gregory Donovan, Antonio Prunella and Guiseppe LoDuca. Ryan Looney, Michael Husch, Matthew Vowinkle, Matthew Ambrosio and Kyle Waibel contributed with multiple hard hits!

The Rangers played a hard hitting Padres team on a hot Sunday afternoon. The hitting stars for the Rangers were Justin Marder (2 2B's, 2 RBI's), Yanni Rigos (2 2B's, 2 RBI's), Nicolas Mangia (4 for 5, 2 RBI's), Michael Telsey (2B, RBI) and Darren Nieves (2 runs scored). Nick Campanella, Louis Mangia and Justin led the defense. Jake O'Keefe and Nicholas Kurdziel showed their great improvement at the plate with some impressive at bats. Way to go!

Celtic Corner Pub and Grub Yankees Vs.

Knights of Columbus No. 2852 Dodgers

As the season is winding down, the Celtic Corner Pub Yankees are playing their best ball yet. The hitting attack was lead by Slater Dvoor and Christian Carrick with four solid hits each; and the birthday boy Peter Restivo, Steven Cascio and Ryan O'Hare who had three hits each. The fielding stars were the tandem of Peter Tagios and Michael Varrone, who combined on the ends of several outstanding plays. Thanks to the Dodgers for an entertaining game.

Vietri Associates Mets Vs.

Baxter's Sport Shop Cubs

For the Mets it was another strong game. The Mets stars in the field were, James Messina with another unassisted double play, Adam Feldstein, Christopher Vietri & Frankie Saladino also were strong in the field. The Mets hitting stars included, Andrew Polito, Rudy Rodriguez who had 3 doubles, Chris Rodriguez. The Mets just keep on getting better each week and are looking forward to the last game of the year in a subway series against the Yankees. Lets Go METS!

The Hand Rolled Bagels

Cardinals (8) Vs. W.E.M.E.D.

The Giants started out strong, leading 7 to 1 after 3. Our pitchers were starter David Feldstein, relievers Harrison Dvoor & Prasanth Venigalla all pitched well but were hurt by walks. Adeel "A-Bar" Bari came in the 4th and with the help of Jared Gany only gave up 1 run on 1 hit the last 3 innings, keeping the Cards hope alive. The defense played a key roll led by Thomas Kelly, Matt Dluginski & Jarett Greben. In the bottom of the 6th, the Cards were down 8 to 2 but not out. Jayson Molina, Harrison Dvoor, Joseph Pagan & Matt Theodoropoulas all walked. With 1 run in and the bases loaded Thomas Kelly, David Feldstein & Prasanth Venigalla all singled plating 5 runs making the score 8 to 7 Giants. With 2 outs, runners on 1st & 3rd, Justin Simoncini hit a hard smash to 2nd, Justin was hustling all the way & was safe, scoring the tying run at 8!

Dr. Barbaro Phillies (9) Vs. City Line

Florists Diamondbacks (5)

These 2 teams played to the spectators delight. The Phillies displayed some great defense in a close game featuring great pitching from both teams. In the 1st Kenny Nygard made a catch in deep centerfield shutting down the D'Backs early on. Our defense was anchored by Cooper Spector-Salwen with a spectacular grab at 1st. Klye Triptree, was solid behind the plate nailing a base runner attempting to steal 3rd. The pitching was lead by Andrew Schneider & Justin Diamond. The offense was solid, with timely hitting by Andrew Curcio, Frank DiSanto, Nicholas Winkhart & Tyler Cohen. Also contributing on offense were Andrew Seger, who was drilled in the back with a pitch, James Cotumaccio (2 walks & 2 SB's) scoring the go ahead run. John Triptree & Peter Dunn have played well all year.

City Line Florists Diamondbacks (5)

Vs. Dr. Barbaro Phillies (9)

The D-Backs & Phillies both played their 1st playoff game and boy, was it an exciting game! With the score tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the 5th, the Phil's rallied scoring 4 runs taking the victory 9-5. The D'Backs played an exceptional game led by their starting pitcher, Nick Perrone & reliever Jack Kimmel. Our defense was solid with great plays by Craig Schmid, Ryan Korzivinsky, Thomas Kemmet & Billy Stevens. The offense was jumpstarted by Mike Kemmet, William Huh, Alex Cowen, Michael Casey, Tim McCormack & Andrew Waibel. Though the D'Backs lost this game, they showed that their hard work this season improved their skills and they showed real team spirit & sportsmanship. Let's go, Diamondbacks!

State Bank of Long Island Indians (6)

Vs. City Line Florists Diamondbacks (5)

A super come-from-behind game by the Indians in a 6-5 victory over a strong D'Backs squad. The game was knotted at 2 until the 4th when Mike Sitzer ripped a clutch single giving the Indians a 3-2 lead. The D'Backs scored 3 in the top of the 6th taking a 5-3 lead, but the Indians remained cool and calm. In the bottom of the 6th, Chris Ferlazzo led off with a single. Anthony Cacchioli sacrificed him over to 2nd, then Ben Lee cracked a single driving in our 4th run. Ben stole 2nd, & Steven Cacchioli rapped a single to right, knocking in the tying run. Steven promptly stole 2nd, setting the stage for our big hitter, Brendan McNulty. Brendan, who already had 2 hits and 1 RBI, belted a rocket over the center fielder's head for a game winning triple! And as usual, the Indians pitchers were superb - Chris Ferlazzo, Ben Lee & Mike Sitzer, each notched 4 K's. Great game Indians!

Vs. Celtic Corner Pub & Grub Astros (8)

Great game by both the Astros & Mariners! Solid defense for the Mariners by Fran Terrero, Jonathan O'Brien, Philip Gonzales helping to seal the victory. Hitting stars were Birthday Boy Pat Theodoropoulos (3 for 3, walk, 4 runs scored, 6 SB, 3 RBI's); Eric Schmid (3 for 4, 2 SB's, 4 RBI's); Danny Luchino (2 for 2, 2 walks, 4 runs scored, 5 SB's); Kevin Terrero (1 for 3, triple, run scored, 2 SB's, 2 RBI's). Bryan Dieber started the game giving us 3 solid innings followed by yet another sterling performance by Sean Byrne for 1 inning. With the score 8 - 7 Mariners, Danny Luchino closed out the game with a super pitching performance. Special Thanks to Matt Theodoropoulos for filling in while we were short handed. Get better soon to Alex Smith!

Pirates (4) Vs. Schwalbach Buildings

Supplies Inc Devil Rays (6)

The Pirates lost to a tough Devil Rays team, 6-4. The Pirates had the lead for the first 3 innings as Dan Schwartz pitched well to hold the Rays to 2 runs. He also knocked in 2 runs to help himself in the 1st. Gabe Cohen & Chris Sanchez pitched well in relief. Good defense by Nick Driscol & Mark Roantree helped keep the contest tight. On the offensive side, Alex Weiner had a pair of hits & Chris Casey had a clutch 2 out RBI single. Ethan Kleinberg knocked in the 4th run. Good job by Chris Sanchez catching, Andy Dittrich DH/LF, Max Ginsberg, Harrison Strows & Brett Kleinberg to shore up the defense. Playoffs dead ahead boys, think positive!

Devil Rays (6) Vs. Fundamental

Baseball Camp, Inc. Pirates (4)

The regular spring season ended in high fashion as the Devil Rays came out on top 6-4. It was a close battle all the way, as the Rays had to scratch & claw for all their runs. Andrew Pugliese pitched 6 strong innings, while collecting 2 hits! Catcher Mark Jason threw out 2 base stealers! Joe Carbone had 3 hits stealing 3 bases! Andrew Nikolai, Gabriel Diamond & Hansel Pacheco covered the infield like seasoned veterans! But the game saving catch came late in the game, when the Pirates had 2 on and 1 out. A hard hit line drive looked like a sure 3 run homer but Salman Poonawala, stretched high & far snaring it in mid air! Salman then threw a strike to 2nd doubling up the Pirate runner. Way to go Sally! Harrison Marder had a couple of solid hits, & along with Trevor Kriegel, Thomas Jaklitsch & Conor Breen covered the outfield. Congrats to all my Devil Ray players on finishing the regular season at 10-1, Coach Joe and Al are very proud of you!

Vs. Tri Auto Motors, Inc. Mariners (11)

The Bagels and A Whole Lot More Reds stayed tough through their final game of the regular season. Chris Rocco, the Red's starting pitcher for this game, pitched superbly. Alex Montalvo came in for the final inning to finish the game and did a great job. Jonathan Shapiro showed some intense offensive with 2 blasts to center field. Unfortunately, the Mariners proved to be in the groove on this Spring evening. Good outfield plays be Danny Coster and Belvin Kuriakose kept the Mariners at bay with singles. Zach Lawrence and Bobby Friedner showed strong defense with some key plays on the field. We had some terrific first base defense by Scott Kipnis and Jonathan Davis. Aaron Brenner had a solid game behind the plate. Great Season Reds! Let's Show Them What We've Got In The Playoffs!

The Mariners are on a roll defeating the Reds 11-6. Strong pitching performances by Danny Luchino, 4 innings 6 K's; Bryan Dieber 1 inning, 1 K and Pat Theodoropoulos 1 inning along with solid defense from Philip Gonzalez (walk, run scored RBI); Jonathan O'Brien, Kevin Terrero and Sean Byrne (2 walks, 2 runs scored) help keep the Reds off the bases. Hitting stars this game were, Doug Leff (2 for 3, 2 runs scored, double, SB); Danny Luchino (2 for 2, 2 runs scored, 2 doubles, walk & 2 SB); Pat Theodoropoulos (1 for 1, run scored, SB); Bryan Dieber (2 for 2, run scored, walk, SB, RBI); Fran Terrero (1 for 2, walk, SB, RBI); Erik Schmid (1 for 3, run scored); Luis Lopez (1 for 3, run scored). Mariners keep the momentum and lets roll through the playoffs!

Vs. Dennett Law Offices Ducks (4)

The Sharks were tamed by the Ducks' top pitching tandem, which limited the Fish to only one run. The game was tied 1-1 until the 4th when the Ducks broke the game open and scored 3 runs. The Sharks had 2 RISP in each of their last two innings but could not get the big hit. Steve Ambrosio , Steve Curran , Mike Cascio and William Rezin had the Fish hits.

Vs. The Liebell Family River Sharks (1)

After 2 disappointing losses earlier in the season, the Ducks were finally able to catch the fish in this exciting duel. The Ducks tied it up in the bottom of the 1st on a single by Frank Pate & double by Luis Gaitan. The Ducks threatened again in the 2nd on singles by Michael Ibrahem, Justin Kalin & Sam Rossiello, but the Sharks retired the side with the bases loaded. The bottom of the 4th saw the Ducks scoring 3 on a singles by Frank Pate, Nolan Roth & Michael Ibrahem and key walks by Joel Gross, Alex Taffet & Sam Rossiello. The Ducks threatened again in the bottom of the 5th on a singles by Lu Zaremba & Jonathan Dennett, but could not score. Sharks put 2 runners on in the 5th and 6th, but Duck pitching closed the door on the rallies. Frank Pate was superb in 4 innings of pitching as was Jonathan Dennett in relief.

Vs. Hillside Beverage Cyclones (4)

Through the first 3 innings, pitcher Jonathan Dennett matched the Cyclones pitcher allowed no runs. The Ducks scratched out a run in the 4th as Luis Gaitan singled moving to 2nd on a brilliantly executed sacrifice bunt by Stephen DePietto. Jonathan Dennett singled to score Gaitan giving the Ducks a 1-0 lead. But the Cyclones came back in the bottom of the 4th. With excellent relief pitching by Joel Gross, the Cyclones were held to 2 runs to take a 2-1 lead. Both sides went quietly in the 5th, leading to a very exciting 6th inning finale. Sam Rossiello was hit by a pitch moving to 2nd on a classic sacrifice bunt by James Regan. Luis Gaitan singled, scoring Rossiello to tie the game. Jonathan Dennett tripled, scoring Gaitan & then scored on Frank Pate's single. Joel Gross doubled scoring Pate and bring the Duck lead to 5-2. The Cyclones mounted a comeback, a walk, double & single put the tying run was on first with only 1 out. Duck hurler Frank Pate fanned 2 , sealing the victory for the Ducks.

Vs. The Stutzmann Funeral Home

Road Warriors (1)

In a classic pitcher's duel, the Sharks edged the Road Warriors 2-1. Key hits by Brendan Lum, Mike Cascio and Lee Schwarz powered the offense, while stellar pitching from Brendan Lum, Steve Curran and Steve Ambrosio nailed down the win. Fine defensive plays were added by William Rezin and David Leibell.

Road Warriors (1) Vs. The Liebell

Family River Sharks (2)

Another 1 run loss for the Warriors this time to the Sharks. MVP's for this game were David Luchino (3 for 3, 1 run scored, Double, stolen base) and Matt Dillon (3 for 3). Call up Alex Katz did a super job and went 2 for 2 with 2 steals. Way to go Alex! Louis Simione (1 for 3) made the hit count driving in our only run of the day. Kevin Gagnon picked up our only other hit against some tough Shark pitching. Keeping the score close was the tough defense supplied by Pat McGonigle, Robert Scatorchio, Nicky Clifford, Harris Rivkin and Danny Spratt. Rob pitched the first 4 innings and was touched up for the 2 runs in the fourth. Nicky Clifford relieved him and held the Sharks giving us a chance. Next up the Pride!

Merillon Junior Division Mets (10)

Vs. Westbury (6)

The Merillon "Mets" notched their 8th win of the season defeating a tough Westbury team 10-6. The Mets are now 8-2-1. Awesome pitching performances were turned in by Mark Amber, Pat Gagnon, Robert Fauci & Michael Pucci. The defense was also outstanding with stellar plays turned in by Zach Grossman, Jon Paul Dimarco, Dan Puglia, Derek Clifford, Mike Marsigliano and a circus catch turned in by Pat Gagnon, running straight out from the 2nd base position making an over the shoulder catch. The Mets also had a well-rounded hitting attack with big hits by Matt Williams, Jeff Salusto, Harold Gagnon, Ryan Puglia & Gabe Gonzalas. Way to go boys!

ABC Rental Dragons Vs.

Dr. LoRusso-Pesiri, DC Racers

The Dragons played a terrific game in the field. Josette Molina made put outs at home and third unassisted and had three hits . Kristen Renta had two put outs at third and had two hits. The offensive power came from Katelyn B., Nicole K., and Christine V. all with 2 hits. Jessica V., Natalie P., Melissa T., and Brianna R., played well in the field and at the plate. Coach Joe is proud of his girls and hopes they keep up the good work.

ABC Rental Dragons Vs. Glen Oaks

On the last game of the season for the Dragons my star of the game goes to the whole team. Kristen Renta was 3-3, Brianna Simeoli 3-3, Allison Schillinger 4-4, Brianna Rotondo, Christine Vissichelli, Jessica Vissichelli, Josette Molina, Natalie Patrey and Melissa Thomas played their hearts out for this game. Not playing in this game Nicole Kuzler and Julia Tricarico have been spark plugs the whole season. I wish to thank the players and the parents for their understanding and encouragement throughout the season. Coach Joe

The Roadsters keep rolling along. Nicole Bateman, Gina Cacchioli and Jillian Graziano provided the offense. Outstanding defensive plays by Allison Hand, Kelly Kerrane and Rachel Hand. Super relief pitching by Alicia Brewer and great base running by Lauren Kurre. Great game girls.
