Top Soccer

Another gorgeous week had the teams in midseason form. The junior game was a nip-and-tuck battle with great defense. The game saw many scorers with Nick Pusateri and Robbie Valli leading their teams with 2 goals each. Ryan McCurry and Joshua Stark each added another tally for a 3-3- tie.

The seniors also wound up in a tie but not before seeing the blue team jump out to a quick lead. Stefani Egre continues her torrid scoring pace with 2 goals. Andrew Abberton added with an assist from Jamie Schneider. Alex Schneider put away the fourth goal. Billy Russo got untracked and scored twice. Matt Saraiva pounded home another but a determined Nick Marangoudakis scored the tying goal. Alex Warner, Karen Babyak and Christian Buccellato had outstanding games at midfield. April 10-Cheetah girls came out defensively strong the first half. Amanda Choy led the defense with Ciara Jennings and Milla Skugor's big kicks clearing the ball. Our goalies, Jennifer Morrone and Natalie Kariotis both took rocket shots off their knees to save goals. Caitlin Cosme, Eleni Muratore, and Sheila Krische pushed our offense to give Kayla Fitzpatrick a clear shot on goal. Great job!

April 17- Cheetah girls played great today. Caitlin Cosme's deflection goal was supported by Sheila Krische and Mariella Facibene. We watched Jennifer Morrone, Natalie Kariotis and Eleni Muratore make several dribbling runs down field for near goals. Amanda Choy and Kayla Fitzpatrick controlled the ball at midfield while Ciara Jennings and Milla Skugor made their stops on defense. Keep kicking!

Soccer Bunnies

The Soccer Bunnies bravely and battled and bobbed to another beautiful performance in a super game on a hot spring day. The offense was led by Emma Nidermaier and Sophia Jacoby in a tough battle against the super Cheetah Girls defense. Claire Friel and Cassidy Lange were tireless in running all over the field in supporting their team's mighty efforts. Melanie Valdes turned in an outstanding all-round performance and Ashlee Smestad was once again rock-solid in all she did. Our goalies, Cassidy Lange (who shone in her debut with the gloves) and Aoife Fitzgerald were also excellent against an opponent who was always dangerous. The whole team played superbly every minute of the game and made their parents and fans very proud. We missed you Hannah, Andrea and Maya. Way to go, Bunnies, Thumpety-thump!

April 17-Kickin' Kittens vs. Angels

The Kittens began their spring season with three very tough matches. On a cold and rainy day the girls played their first game against the Thunder Cats. With great hustle and enthusiasm, the girls turned up the heat for their fans. Their second game was a defensive struggle versus a talented N.Y. Power team. Terrific passing and aggressive defense made this contest very entertaining. The Kittens played their third game against the Angels. This game was marked by outstanding goaltending. Catherine Saketos and Isabel Ryan thrilled all of us with their inspired play in front of their net. Taylor Cosme used her speed to put pressure on the Angel's defensive end. Brianna Singh on her first season with the Wildcats is improving every week. Katya Keblish was very strong on offense and on defense. Despite being somewhat under the weather, Kaitlyn Scherder used her powerful kick to send the ball into the offensive end. Arianna Ramdass is demonstrating greater confidence and hustle getting many touches on the ball. The steady presence of Sarahelena Barrios and Eva Chan keep the Kittens clicking. Their passing and heads up play make these two a dangerous combination. All the girls seem to be really enjoying the game and working very hard. Thank you to all the parents for your help and continuing to support the girls. Keep up the good work Kittens.

Soccer Tigers vs. Hot Shots - Playing short handed with only five ferocious tigers showing up for the team the Soccer Tigers played their hearts out in 74 degree heat. Alyssa Garcia in the first half made four unassisted saves while playing goalie. The Hot Shots struck first scoring two goals before Bridget Shea answered with two goals of

her own. Meredith Pearl played valiantly alternating between offense and

defense. Nicole Milcetic playing defense pushed the other team back and showed just how tough the Soccer Tigers really are. Natalie Schlueck made several spectacular saves while playing goalie. At one point she made a diving save like the pro's! When playing on the offensive line, she scored one for the Soccer Tigers with one powerful kick to the left side of the net. The Hot Shots eventually won the game as the eventually wore down the Soccer Tigers by their superior man power. Both teams gave it their all despite the hot sun beating down on the playing field. The coaches for both teams certainly had something to be proud about on this glorious day. Congratulation to all players from both teams.

Little Princesses vs NY Power:

Two equally skilled teams did battle this past weekend. As the Little Princesses and the NY Power entertained their parents and fans to a great game. Ashley scored the Little Princesses goal showing some fancy dribbling before hitting the net. Laura was an offensive fence all game keeping pressure on the strong NY Power's defense. Chandini played aggressive in her pursuit of the ball. Catherine was a dribbling wizard constantly advancing the ball. Tara played a strong offensive game helping the Princesses offensive attack. Jackie saved the day for the Little Princesses with a diving save on a bullet from short range in the last minute of play.

Thundercats - We were blessed with another beautiful day for soccer Sunday afternoon. The Thundercats and Terriers played a very competitive game against each other. Gabriella Santoli and Alana Leahy did a great job for us in goal. Defensively, Nancy Licona, Diedre McAndrew, and Sabrina Mauro did a great job of disrupting the opposing teams break-aways and clearing the ball from the front of our net. Our offensive opportunities were supplied by the strong play of Allison Pazienski, Fiona Kiernan, and Amanda Zeitlin. Good job girls, keep up the great work.

Cheetah Power - On another hot day the Power turned in a sizzling performance in a great sporting match against the Little Princesses. Sophie Robinson made her debut in goal and was excellent as was Taylor Barnard, who also played goal. Both were great outfield also. McKenzie Lynch and Emily Smith played great on both sides of the ball. Camille Bangug and Aisling Fitzgerald also turned in super performances all round. Amanda Commisso and Daniella Fusaro provided the very strong offensive effort for the whole game. The girls all played hard in the heat and made their fans proud. ....Well done Power!

Lady Stormcats 1 - Hicksville 6 - Being that this is a democracy (sometimes), the girls voted out my new formation after today's contest....they also knew how to bring a smile to my face, even though my insides were in a knot...what a great bunch of girls!! Today's game against a very powerful Hicksville team was definitely unlike last weeks game against Glen Cove where we went toe to toe with them until the final whistle blew. So its back to the old drawing board and back to the "old formation" We will continue to encourage and congratulate the girls for their effort because its their effort that makes them a success. There were definite bright spots in today's game, and the girls are picking up some of the things that are necessary to work well as a team unit. Well done: Roshni Amin, Nicole Bateman, Alicia Brewer, Amanda Cavallaro, Dana Davis, Kelly Kerrane, Gina Marrano( who converted a penalty kick for a goal!), Alexandra Pappacena, Emily Rennie, Paige Rigas and Melanie Sferrazza. Keep having fun playing this beautiful game.

U-10 Girls Waldbaum's Cup

April 13th, 2005

The Lady Jaguars had to travel to West Islip to play the West Islip Earthquakes in the opening round of The Waldbaum's Cup Tournament. The ground was shaking but it was the Lady Jaguars that caused the Rumble! The Lady Jags defeated the Earthquakes by the score of 3-1 to advance to the 2nd round of the tournament. Ashley Tuffy who has been outstanding for the Lady Jags in goal this season had another outstanding game. She stopped shot after shot from the West Islip attackers. At one point making an outstanding save, after being injured moments before...Ashley has lived up to her last name. The Defense was led by the

inspirational play of Gabby Tomasini. Stepping up to support Gabby with multiple clears were Erica Sousa, Julianne Randazzo and Emma McGrath. Emma McGrath not only played solid defense but scored the second goal of the game. She took a hard shot from outside the 18 yd. box finding the back of the net. The play was started by Alish Malone (1 Assist) who stole the ball off of one of the Earthquakes and laid the ball out perfectly for Emma's shot. The other goals in the game were scored by the other Emma, Em Innella. The first goal coming off of a nice pass by Alison Ricciutti which found Emma streaking toward the goal, Emma took a solid shot lifting the ball into the right hand corner of the goal over the West Islip goal keeper. The Lady Jags seemed to be cruising when a high shot

made its way into the net deflecting off of Ashley Tuffy, who battled with the setting sun, to get the Earthquakes within one goal. However the threat was thwarted at once, when Julianne Randazzo(1 Assist) found Alison Richiutti(2 Assists) breaking down the right side of the field. Alison on a very nice cross found Emma Innella in front of the net for her 2nd goal of the game. The Lady Jaguars were able to hold on for the victory. Great Mid-field play by Jillian Graziano, Meaghan Ginty, Alison Riciutti and Alish Malone controlled the ball for the majority of the game. The Jags scored 3 goals on 12 shots with some nice rushes up front by Enza Decrescenzo and Jillian Stacom. Thanks to all of the parents who came home early from work to get their children out to West Islip for this Wed. afternoon game.

April 16-U-10 Girls Travel

The Lady Jaguars traveled to Massapequa to face the "Elite". And that they were. The Lady Jags came out on the short side of a 4-2 game. Again Ashley Tuffy played an outstanding game stopping 14 of 18 shots on goal.(Which one of the goals were off-sides). The game was a learning experience as Coach Tom McGrath stated; "Girls, This team that you played today is an excellent team. They have been together for years and have great skills. On the other hand you are a very good team, that has only been together for 6 months, and you hung in there. Nothing to be ashamed of. You can only go UP from here!" The Lady Jags made it interesting. Gabby Tomasini scored the tying goal to make it 1-1 for most of the 1st half. Erica Sousa (1 Assist) fed the ball up to Jillian Stacom, who fought hard to shake loose from a Massapequa defender. Jill continued to drive into the corner and then crossed the ball to Gabby Tomasini who buried it for the score. The Elite continued to pressure the N.H.P. goal, taking shots from all parts of the field. The pressure was too much and Massapequa was able to pull in front by a score 4-1. But the girls would not give up and battled as best they could. Jill Stacom (2 Assists) found Jilliian Graziano streaking down the right side of the field. Jill was dribbling the ball at full speed, with 2 defenders keeping pace, when she ripped the ball (from outside the penalty box) into the upper portion of the net for the score. On defense Julianne Randazzo was outstanding. Coach McGrath said "It was her best game of the year!" All of the Lady Jaguars gave it their all. However one line sums it up best...You can't win them all!
