The season opened on a bright and beautiful Saturday morning with spirits sky-high. We were a little short on players for the junior game but what was missing in bodies was made up for in scoring. Looking like they were in midseason form, these mighty mites lit up the score board for 16 goals! The red team saw Ryan McCurry put away six goals and Julius Sum added 2 more. The blue team had the scoring equally distributed with 4 goals each by Rob Valli and Nicholas Pusateri.

The senior game was a little more well-balanced but also ended in a tie, 3-3. The blue team's offense was furnished by Mike Raihl with a three-goal "hat trick". Stefani Egre led the red team with 2 goals and assisted on the third with a blast that was stopped by goalie Sebastian Garcia but the rebound was smothered by Matt Saraiva who tapped in the tying goal. Andrew Solar was outstanding in the other net with several great saves to keep the match close. Alex Schneider was super at midfield with a few determined charges. Rich Bletsch. Director

Soccer Bunnies - The Soccer Bunnies hopped to a hot performance as hot as the beautiful weather against the tough Soccer Tigers. Our goalies, Sophia Jacoby and Aoife Fitzgerald were brave and strong and performed well outfield also. Andrea and Maya Castro put in a great effort on offense and defense. Melanie Valdes and Ashlee Smestad also played great games on both sides of the ball. Claire Friel and Cassidy Lange were excellent on defense, getting in some crucial tackles. Hannah Arkin and Emma Nidermaier were their usual outstanding offensive selves. Way to go, Bunnies, we're all proud of how well you played and had fun!

Soccer Tigers versus the Soccer Bunnies - It was a beautiful day and two teams met on the soccer field, both playing to win. It was a question of great offense by the Soccer Tigers versus great defensive play by the Soccer Bunnies. Many shots were taken by the Soccer Tigers, but it wasn't until Briget Shea and Brittany Battista scored that the ball got rolling! The Soccer Bunnies scored at the end of the first half dispite the great defensive play of Alyssa Garcia, Nicole Milcetic, and Olivia Namendorf. The second half began with Briget Shea passing to Meredith Pearl who took the shot on goal and scored. Toward the end of the game Raffaela Palmieri stopped an offensive drive by the Soccer Bunnies and dribbled up the left side of the field, passing to Natale Schlueck who went half way up the field passing to Meredith Pearl who scored another goal as time ran out. The Soccer Bunnies played valiantly as a cohesive unit. They showed great confidence and all the parents for both teams were quite proud of a game that was hotly contested. This was truly a magnificent day only to be outdone by the glorious play of both teams.

The Thundercats played a spirited game against a powerful Angels team on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Fiona Kiernan, Allison Pazienski, and Gabriella Santoli all did a great job on offense by creating many scoring opportunities. Backing up our offense was Nancy Licona, Emily Park and Amanda Zeitlin on Defense. The girls continually pushed the ball to the outside, away from our goal. Sabrina Mauro and Deidre McAndrew turned in two fantastic goaltending performances. All of the girls hustled throughout the entire game. Keep up the good work soccer players. Little Princesses vs Terriors - The Little Princesses were short-footed this week, due to illness and injury. That did not stop the rest of the team from giving 110 percent effort in the summer-like weather. Tara started the game in goal and looked sharp making several good saves. Laura played both offense and defense, great on both sides of the ball. Catherine was an offensive force constantly pressuring the Terriors defense. Chandini made numerous strong plays on defense and continues to develop each game. Jessica, despite playing on a sore foot, was all over the field showing great defensive and drilling skills. Ashley displayed outstanding stamina, hustling back on defense to prevent a Terrior goal and also scoring her first goal of the season. The Little Princesses want to thank Sarahelena and Isabella for their help on such a warm day. We missed you Brittany and Jackie, hope you both feel better soon!

Cheetah Power - On a hot, sunny day the Power played a great game and fought a titanic struggle against the super Kittens. Our goalies Emily Smith and McKenzie Lynch did great and also were very solid when playing on defense. Taylor Barnard bravely played superbly on both offense and defense and was accompanied by Camille Bangug in the same vein. Sophie Robinson and Amanda Commisso played hard and were very strong for the whole game. The offensive pairing of Aisling Fitzgerald and Daniella Fusaro once again was excellent as they terrified the defense, and some of the parents. The girls all played hard for the whole game and made their fans proud. ....Well done Power!

Princesses 1 vs Rainbow Cats 2 - The Princesses kicked off the season against a terrific, extremely well coached Rainbow Cats squad. The Princesses defense was outstanding, playing smart and holding their positions. Ariana led the defensive effort aggressively reversing the opposition's advances. Samantha and Jean Marie supplied solid support to help hold the Rainbow Cats offensive in check. Odellia and Kathryn split the game in goal and both were outstanding. Each goalie made several super saves to keep the game tight. Brittany and Marisa were consistently around the ball showing great ball skills. Sarah displayed great speed creating a couple of scoring opportunities. Laura playing her first game, look like a natural, quickly adapting to the flow of the game. Nicole played an outstanding game on both sides of the field and recorded her first goal of the year for the Princesses. It was an enjoyable soccer Sunday as both teams made their coaches and parents proud. Great job girls

Rainbow Cats 2 Princesses 1 - A thrilling gane between the Raibow Cats and the talented Princesses kept all the spectators on their toes. Great defense started with Jenna Ferrante and Adriana Brigulio as terrific goalkeepers. Dynamite defense work by Lisa Caliguri, Nicole Vella and Regina Siciliano kept pace with the strong Princesses offense. Alana Cohen and Megan Lotti each scored with a well placed shot on goal. Excellent footwork by Samantha Chiauzzi and Katherine McCune consistently kept the ball going upfield. Players on both teams were awesome on the field.

Soccer Power 3 - Celtic Tigers 0 - WOW! The weather was perfect for the season opener. The Soccer Power and the Celtic Tigers were electric with energy as they prepared for their first game in the spring season. Both teams played awesome in this battle of the Titans. The Soccer Power opened the scoring as Dena Cavallaro intercepted a pass at midfield and fed it to Nicole Clark who fired a rocket shot just under the cross bar for our first goal and her first goal! Tabinda Syed picked up a pass along the right side line and sprinted the length of the field to beat all defenders and blasted a shot into the net for our second goal. Finishing off the score for the day was Tabinda who wrinkled the net for our third goal. Our defense and goal tending was awesome as they refused to let the talented Celtic Tigers score. The defensive posse was led by the speedy Sabrina Kalman, Alenia Farmer, Rebecca Lewis, Gabby Apuzzo and Dureya Syed. This group of girls was tenacious on defense and was supported by the "stone wall" goalkeeping by Gabby Apuzzo and Nicole Clark. Congratulations Soccer Power on your victory and special kudos to our own Nicole Clark. Go Soccer Power!

Thundercats 2 - Crazy Cats 2 - The Thundercats showed some determination and toughness in coming back to earn a 2-2 tie against a very good Crazy Cats team. Our goalie play was just awesome with Kaitlyn Colgan turning in a terrific game and Julia Marks contributing a goal as well. Up front the tandem of Christine Bunyon and Stephanie Jozkowski sparkled with their passing and shooting. The defensive play of Eve Rigas, Megan Iovino and Marissa Pino was rock solid, especially in the second half. Our other goal was scored by Kadambari Suri who sent a shot into the corner of the net. Also helping out in many positions today was Karina Yu who showed some great hustle. Overall this was a good way to start the season. Keep it up, girls.

Bulldogs vs. Webspinners - Excellent start to the season on a great sunny day. The Bulldogs showed how much they have improved their skills with beautiful passing. Goals scored by Kyle Perno 2, and Joey Leva 1. Matt Viscardi, and Jon Ng were excellent forwards starting off the many attacks on the webspinners net. The brick defensive wall was held up by Brendan Quinn and Kevin Driscoll stopping many attacks by the relentless forwards. Andrew Adamo and Zach Sarf were excellent in the goal as well as on the field. Coach John and Terry are very proud of you boys. Keep up the great work. We missed you Kenny Vasquez.

Terrific effort by all the Brazil players in a 2-1 defeat to a tough Turkey team. Brazil's offense was led by Mark Thomas, Chris Rivera and Mark Gimelstein, who scored Brazil's lone goal. Super two-way play by midfielders Chris Ferlazzo and Steven Cacchioli. Brazil's offense dominated most of the game with crisp passing and many shots on goal. Brazil's awesome defense was anchored by Anthony Cacchioli, Brian Baracaldo, and Rohit Basu. The defense came up big time and time again in thwarting the Turkey offensive unit. Goalies Michael Zovich and Chris Cataldo were super in the nets, making many fine saves. Great game Brazil!!

The Lady Jaguars opened the 2005 spring season against the Mighty Farmingdale Storm. The Jags fell to the Storm by the score of 3-0. The first ten minutes of the game were evenly matched as both teams took the ball up and down the field. Two breakaways did the Lady Jags in. With the score 2-0 at the half the Jags put some pressure on the Farmingdale goal keeper with 4 of their 6 shots coming in the second half. The girls played tough and hung in against a very physical team. A late goal made it 3-0, however the girls spirits were not broken. At the end of the game Coach Tom McGrath questioned "Do you think that this team is that much better than you? If not, tomorrow in the State Cup game, show them that we're from New Hyde Park!"

The Lady Jags had a large task in front of them, They were playing in the State Cup, one of 16 teams left. They were playing the Farmingdale Storm, a team that had just beaten them the day before, by the score of 3-0. The Storms were coming into the game undefeated in 3 years. But, "One thing that this team has is heart!" exclaimed Assistant Coach Bernard Malone. And that they showed as the Lady Jaguars upset the Farmingdale Storm by the score of 3-1. Coach McGrath said, "It's a different day girls, now show them what you can do!" The Jaguars pulled off the upset to advance to the semi-finals of the State Cup. It was a team effort that made the difference. Gabby Tomasini, Emma McGrath, Julianne Randazzo and Erica Sousa were solid on defense. Goal Keeper Ashley Tuffy came up BIG when she had to, making nine saves. It was a tough match with the Storm scoring first. With the score 1-0 the play went up and down the field. Erica Sousa put the ball in play on a corner kick that found forward Jillian Stacom in the right spot as she banged in the tying score. Mid-field play was strong led by Alison Ricchiuti who with the support of Ailish Malone, Meghan Ginty, Jillian Graziano, Erica Sousa and Gabby Tomasini fought hard for possession of the ball. Forwards Jillian Stacom, Enza Decrescenzo and Emma Innella kept the pressure on the Storms goal keeper. The half ended in a 1-1 tie. Emma Innella scored the go ahead goal on a lead pass by Gabby Tomasini. Emma was determined fighting through two defenders. Her initial shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, however she knocked in the rebound from the keeper. The crowd led by NHP Wildcats President Dom Marrano let out a huge roar! The Storm continued to put pressure on the Jags goal until Erica Sousa (2 assists) hit Gabby Tomasini in front of theFarmingdale goal for the Lady Jaguars third goal of the game. The Storm seemed shocked as the clock ticked down. The whistle sounded and with this victory, the Lady Jaguars advanced to the semi-finals of the State Cup! Thanks to all of the Parents and friends who came out to support the Lady Jaguars. Your presence helped us to believe that we could win!
