The Giants met the White Sox in the 2004 Summer season opener. The Giants gave the start to their youngster "SEVEN" year old Jonathon Cioffi. Jonathon pitched 2 scoreless innings receiving the game ball. Way to go Jon! Hitting stats were as follows; Jonathon was 1 for 2, 1 run scored. He walked & was robbed of an extra base hit on a web gem by the Sox 2nd baseman who snared the scorcher. Thomas Fong led off going 2 for 3 with a run scored. Chris Cataldo, Chris Ferlazzo & Joe DiMonte each went 1 for 2. Shaun Kaiman was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Brett Dieber walked twice and scored a run. Andrew Waibel drew a walk and scored a run. Brennan Scanlon was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Brennan's hit was a deep fly ball past the outfielders for a solo home run, what a shot. Prasant Venigalla walked and had a nice hit, but the Sox defense showed up again and made a nice play for the out. Liam Quinn walked, flied out and scored a run. Great opener Giants!
