The Board would like to thank the following volunteers for giving of their time to help with the tryouts for the new U-10 travel teams:

Steve Contrada, Jim Carrick, Karen Hogan, Chris Burton, Branko Peros, Efi Domb, Benny Falco, Phil Thomas, Dan Taglich, Gary Arman, Joe Tempone, Henry Waite, John Riccardi, John Ganz, Vinny Timpano and George Wendt. Special thank you to Eric Lorandini and New Hyde Park Memorial Boys JV and Varsity players for setting up and running all the drills.

The New Hyde Park TOPSoccer teams went to Plainview/Old Bethpage to compete in the annual tournament and barbecue. Under a picture-perfect day, NHP combined with Garden City for an awesome intermediate squad while the juniors joined forces with Smithtown for a powerhouse team. Andrew Abberton and Matt Saraiva were the offensive stars with the intermediate team pounding home many rockets. Debbie Chin, Billy Russo, Nick Marangoudakis and Karen Babyak were outstanding as they demonstrated stellar skills at midfield. The intermediate team gave a great showing of themselves, as usual. The juniors were led by Ryan McCurry, Rob Valli and Nick Pusateri who blasted shot after shot, many of which found the back of the net. Joshua Niewierowski, Dean Gregory and Paul Niewierowski shared the job of goal keeping and defense so well, they allowed their team to dominate their division. The day ended with hot dogs and hamburgers, barbecued by the same crew for the 25th year!. Our young coaches pitched in and lent a hand in handing out the trophies to all participants. Our coaches, almost all of them of the teenage variety, stood out as much as our athletes. They easily take charge of their 'buddies' and guide and encourage them to succeed on the soccer field. They are quite a group. It was an overall enjoyable and rewarding experience. Well, next week concludes our spring season with the semiannual parents vs. the players match. There has been no visible sign that the parents are taking this game seriously at all. That could be their downfall as the players are sharp from their training all season and should devour their weaker and less skilled opponents. We shall see - come on down and watch for yourself.

What a perfect day to end a perfect season. The Lady Tigers came to the year-end festival ready to play and have some fun. Of course, the

Soccer Puppies, Jaguars and Soccer Cubs joined them on this great afternoon. Together they all put on a superb show. It has been a lot

of fun watching these girls grow as both soccer players and young ladies over this past season. I would like to thank Laila Chadli, Devin Kilcullen, Roey Klass, Jennifer Louie, Jenna Loughran, Amanda Namendorf,

Brittany Rogers, Morgan Roth, Rosalie Vaglica and Kiera Ward for showing how hard work; good sportsmanship and great teamwork really pay off. Great job girls. Congratulation to Lenny Kennedy and his Soccer Cubs on winning for best sportsmanship. See you all next season.

Little Princesses

After last weeks washout the Little Princesses were very eager for this week's Cabbage Patch Tournament to begin. Their excitement was obvious from the opening whistle. The Little Princesses were all over the field. Yasmine Bacchus continued to lead the offense, thrilling the fans with her skillful ball control and goal scoring. Ashley Willoughby was very impressive scoring two outstanding goals in the tournament. Victoria Mooney showed great determination and effort refusing to be stopped, while also scoring two terrific goals. Valerie Loffredo was around the ball all morning long and her efforts were rewarded when she drilled home her first career goal. Catherine Lyons was a dribbling wizard constantly reversing the ball and attacking the offensive zone. Jessica Fox was once again a mainstay on defense ,while also providing strong goaltending. Dana Battaglini also played outstanding defense all tournament, redirecting the ball back to our midfielders. Sarahelena Barrios contributed all over the field with solid goaltending, strong defense and aggressive offense, which nearly resulted in two goals. The Little Princesses had a great fun filled season. Special thanks to all the girls for your effort and great attitudes. The parents of the Little Princesses have a lot to be proud of as do the Little Princesses themselves. Thank you again to Coach Juan for all your time and effort, your presence was greatly appreciated and helpful. We missed you Leah Bodh and special Little Princesses get well wish to Mr. Bodh. Arsenal vs. Manchester United

In a classic battle worthy of the premiership names our teams have used, Arsenal came up just short in a 5 to 4 loss. After a tense ten scoreless minutes, Nick Perrone put in a long shot from the right side to put Arsenal up 1-0. Fifteen minutes in John Tripptree put a one timer past the keeper from a beautiful cross by Alex Montoni. Manchester was not going lay down on this day and came back to tie the score at the half. The Arsenal came out for the second half on fire. Nick got another one past the Man U keeper due to the persistent efforts of Gabe Skugor, who came up with a loose ball at the midfield. Shortly, Joe Carbone moved up brilliantly from central defense to do some razzle dazzle and blast a rocket that the keeper could just not handle. Matt Perno and Kyle Tripptree were absolutely marvelous in their full black positions, and Mike Marini was superman in goal, but despite all of their valiant efforts, Man U came back to tie the game once again. The winner was put in with just about one minute to play. Although the scoreboard says we lost, the boys conducted themselves with pride and sportsmanship. It was a proud day for Wildcat soccer. Congratulations on a great victory for Man U. With these two undefeated teams facing off against each other, the result could only be an unforgettable match with the level of play equal to that of the premier level. The game was a nail-biter, full of suspense, and the outcome was truly unpredictable because both teams were so evenly matched. Ferocious play on both sides led to a scoreless beginning, but soon Arsenal scored to bring the score to 2-0. Finally, Peter Gadze with the help of Chris Ernest broke through and netted two beautiful goals for Manchester United. At halftime, the score was tied at 2-2. However, Arsenal once again struck, and brought the score up to 4-2. At this point, midfield kicked in, and powerhouses Kenneth Choy and Ricky Schlueck sent the ball up, creating excellent scoring opportunities that earned us 2 more goals by Peter. The game went on, with both teams coming extremely close, but to no avail. Mark Gimelstein, Eric Bialczak, Aseer Amin, and Andrew Yu did a terrific job defending the goal, keeping numerous attacks of Arsenal out of our territory. Our goalie Jonathan Ptacek made many brilliant saves, including a penalty shot from mighty Nick Perrone. With time running out, and the game tied once again at 4-4, the pressure was on. Chris Ernest constantly charged the defense, but was denied a chance to score. Finally, when it seemed the game would have to go into overtime, Peter Gadze broke through and to the amazement of everyone, scored a superb goal that won the game for Manchester United. Thank you to team Arsenal for your great sportsmanship, and an overall magnificent game. Coaches Leo and Harry congratulate the boys of Manchester United; you truly outdid yourselves today. You've shown what the power of teamwork can do, and you really earned this victory. All of you have grown as players, and we hope you continue to improve and play the game of soccer. Big thank you to Manchester United parents for your commitment to the team and great support. Here's to a terrific season!

England vs. Ireland

Team England faced off today in the championship game against the undefeated boys from Ireland and came up short. England hung in there for the first half with the score of 1 to 1 but ran out of steam in the second half. Noel James scored England's lone goal on a breakaway. Mike Randazzo, Andrew Curcio and Mark Fuller were relentless up front but just couldn't get one in. Tyler Carrick was rock solid at the midfield position. Matthew Sartoris and Evan Clark played great on defense. Dominick Acquista was strong in goal making some awesome saves. We are very proud of what you boys have accomplished this season. Each game you have gotten stronger and stronger and your smiles have gotten bigger and bigger. It has been a pleasure coaching each and every one of you. Have a great summer and we'll see you in the fall! Coach Jim and Coach Mike. Team Ireland capped off their undefeated season with a hard-fought championship game win against a very strong Team England. The game was tied one-one at half time. With fifteen minutes left in the game, Ireland put on an impressive offensive and defensive display. Great passing by Matt Cenicola and Chris Thomas helped set up goals by Bryan O'Neill and Cian Fitzgerald. The defense was relentless, led by Sean Nolan Ryan and Billy Stevens. As usual, goalie Walter Owens was outstanding. Throughout the game, Team Ireland showed patience with ball control and passing. Sean Matthews was sorely missed on the offensive side. The boys exhibited unsurpassed teamwork, as they have all season. Special thanks to Coaches Megan Stevens and David Fitzgerald for their hard work all season. Megan would like to thank Efi for her love of the game and coaching skills. Thank you to all the parents for giving up your time and helping to make this season a memorable one.

Excellent defense was provided by Alexa State, Nicole Ganz, and Brittany Astacio. The offense was powered by Jaime Nizzo, Jessica Calabro, Kerri Leigh Heesemann, and Kristen Boccarossa. Once again, Nicole Taliercio was perfect in goal earning another full game shutout. The Lady Pumas finished with a record of 6 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. The girls have consistently played as a team, encouraging each other, and making selfless passes.
