As the soccer program gets into the middle of the season, the enthusiasm is at a fever pitch. The level of play continues to improve with defensive skills beginning to match those demonstrated on offense.
Stefani Egre's 4 goals paced the red team to a 5-4 squeaker in the senior game. Billy Russo worked hard all day and the effort finally paid off with the team's fifth goal. Matt Saraiva had 1 goal for the blue team and Andrew Abberton was a powerhouse with a "hat trick". Nicholas Marangoudakis had several good shots for the blue team but was stopped just short of putting the ball over the goal line and tying the game. Shining on defense were Debbie Chin and Karen Babyak with super blocks and great tackles. Also making their presence known were midfielders Andrew Solar and Jamie Schneider, who made outstanding passes and jump-started many attacks.
The junior game was a close match. The red team had 2 "hat tricks", one each by Samantha Powell and Dean Gregory. However, Ryan McCurry had 3 goals, Joe Schmidt had 2 and Andrew Raihl added one more to tie the match.
Much thanks to Amy Limoncelli who took charge of today's session and highlighted the practice with a spirited round of steal-the-bacon. Rich Bletsch, Director

Barbie Power - The Barbies played a beautiful game to make their mothers smile on a beautiful Mother's Day against an excellent and sporting Little Princesses team. Fiona Kiernan and Taylor Barnard had super all-round games. Amanda Commisso and McKenzie Lynch came back and had a big impact on the game against an always dangerous opponent. Aisling Fitzgerald and Laura Roantree played their usual excellent games, while Jaclyn Castaldi and Brett Robison provided explosive offense. The girls really played so well as a team and had lots of fun. Well done Barbies! We missed you Brittany.
Little Princesses - On a beautiful Mother's Day the Little Princesses and Barbie Power gave all of the moms a wonderfully entertaining game. Although shorthanded and playing against a very strong Barbie Power team the Little Princesses gave an all out effort. Once again the outstanding play of Yasmine Bacchus led the team as she used her great ball control to create many scoring opportunities and also defended tenaciously. Dana Battaglini played her best game of the season, running hard on offense and making tough stops on defense. Sarahelena Barrios played another outstanding game, contributing tough defense and pushing the ball into the Barbie Power zone. Tara Sirotkin showed tremendous effort hustling all over the field and improving every game. Valerie Loffredo also continues to show marked improvement showing ball control, aggressiveness and teamwork. Catherine Lyons contributed solid defense and her usual terrific goaltending. Victoria Mooney was tireless using her great speed to pressure the Barbie Power defenders. We missed Jessica Fox, Leah Bodh, Ashley Willoghby and Coach Bob. Great game Little Princesses! Keep up the good work!

Soccer Power 0 Rainbow Cats 1 - Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and a special thank you for cheering on the girls! The Soccer Power team played their hearts out in a battle of the giants. Our defenders, Rachel Hand, Caroline Weinberg and Dena Cavallaro, were dynamite as their turned back the Rainbow Cats potent offense. The offensive surge was ignited by the powerful and skillful team of Dena Cavallaro, Hannah Zeitlin, Regina Siciliano, Samantha Chauzzi and Samantha Delgiorno. Nicole Clark and Allison Hand did an outstanding job in goal today making many saves. Many thanks to our Coach Rich for being such a great coach to all the girls and for teaching the girls how to play the game of soccer as a team! Congratulations to the Rainbow Cats on their win! Also, congratulations go out to our two Communion girls, Dena Cavallaro and Adriana Brijiulio on receiving their 1st Holy Communion on Saturday.
Rainbow Cats 1 Soccer Power 0 - An extremely exciting Mother's Day game for the Rainbow Cats and very talented Soccer Power. All the spectators were treated to a great game as both squads displayed solid teamwork in a very close game. The Rainbow Cats defense started with great goal-keeping shared by Jenna Ferrante, Victoria McDermott and Maria Gorman. The backfield displayed solid teamwork defense. Ariana Bruschi as center defender was super, always on the hunt for the soccer ball. Marissa Pino was a dynamite defender consistently stopping the ball. Victoria McDermott was instrumental on defense keeping the ball away from our goal area. Sarah Lopresti always sent the ball up-field on defense and played terrific as forward. Jenna Ferrante as forward had strong dribbling and ball control and really kept up the offensive pressure. Strong kicks by Lisa Caliguri, as forward, always had the goal in her sights as a target. Maria Gorman as forward 1st half consistently kept the ball going into the goal area. Gina Cacchioli was really fantastic as a strong forward and then dynamite on defense stopping the ball. Meghan Lotti was terrific in going after the ball and placed a well placed shot into the net for a goal. Each player on both teams played both intelligently and with grace. We missed Rebecca Locurto.
Princesses - The Princesses were short-handed with only 4 girls able to attend the game – Karina Yu, Kadambari Suri, Rebecca Lewis, and then at the half, Claire Lanzo. But the Shadow Cats graciously offered to help out – Natalie Bracco, Sara Romagnoli, and Taylor Ross switched jerseys to join the Princesses, and they put their best effort into the game. More help from the Princesses’ friends came from the Soccer Tigers, who had played an earlier game. Jennifer Gerbe, Nicole DeSousa, and Kaitlin Shea, never too tired to play soccer, joined the Princesses on the field for an energetic outing. A willingness to cooperate made this game happen. Thanks to Karina, Kadambari, Rebecca and Claire for playing under these unusual conditions, you are unflappable! An extra special thanks to Sara, Taylor, Natalie, Jennifer, Nicole, and Kaitlin - you are good sports and good friends!
Thunder Cats 5 Soccer Tigers 3
The Mother's Day soccer game was very exciting with the both the Thunder Cats and Soccer Tigers playing a highly skilled game. Stephanie Jozkowski and Christine Bunyon showed great passing skills and together scored the five goals. Celeste Lyons was a dynamite goalkeeper in the first half and an unstoppable forward in the second half. Elena Kalosinis blocked many goals as goalkeeper in the second half and a was tough defender in the first half. Eve Rigas, Samantha Bangug and Karen Pan worked together to form a powerful wall on defense. They attacked the charging Soccer Tigers and backed each other up beautifully. Jean Marie Castaldi and Alexandra Pallisco played awesome offense and continued to play great soccer when they switched to defensive positions, too! Congratulations to both teams for a job well done!

Lady Stormcats 2 Shooting Stars 1 - It was another enjoyable 50 minutes of soccer on a very nice Mother's Day. Both teams showcased their talents and gave their Mom's something to smile about. Larisa Dittrich was in top form today and netted a goal today from a counter-attack that began in the back with Maria DeCrescenzo's pass . Amanda Cavallaro, Enza DeCrescenzo and April Leong were forever pressuring and attacking in fine fashion. Erica Sousa was our ever present mid-fielder, always being in the center of the action. She also netted our second goal on a powerful blast from outside the 18!! Gina Marrano, Alicia Brewer and Jennifer McHale teamed up and were a force to be reckoned with, whether on the back-line defensively or on our attacking front line. Jennifer and Maria, once again teamed up at the Keeper spot doing an outstanding job. Get ready for the play-offs girls...Well Done!
Thunder Cats 3 Lady Tigers 1 - HAPPY Mother's DAY! To all the Wild Cats Mothers from the Thunder Cats. Congratulations! Thunder Cats great job done today against the Lady Tigers. Lady Tigers played an excellent & challenging game, thank God the Thunder Cats were up to the challenge. Thunder Cats scored the first goal in the first half by a brake away from Allison R. Coco Girls 1-5 Top Cats - Today's game against the Bonnet Division’s top team, in the last regular game of the season, was, despite the final score a very entertaining game. The Coco Girls, playing with two of their regular teammates missing due to scheduling conflicts, played a tireless game and each girl in this match gave 100%. Great job girls. In goal, Ailish made several outstanding saves in the face of a barrage of shots, to keep the score-line respectable by half time. In the latter half Nicole continued with some fine goal-keeping efforts. Special mention goes to Andrea who played in an attacking midfield role and battled against girl to girl marking. Lisa and Emilee G again played strong in defense breaking up several attacks. Christie gets special mention in her defensive role today running her heart out and showing some nice footwork. Emily R in midfield showed her speed and threatened several times and it was a nice pass late in the game to Ailish in midfield that led to the Coco goal. The Coco Girls face this team again next Sunday in first round of the playoffs and will hope that the second time around will give a good fight.

NHP Lady Cougars 4 Levittown Lightning 3
Today was an awesome game for the NHP Lady Cougars. They really came through to defeat the mighty Levittown Lightning, who hadn't lost a game in over 2 years! Alicia Mercurio scored our third goal to tie it at 3-3... now we really had a game going. Then along came Melanie Pavlidis, with a beautiful kick to put us on top with a final score of 4-3. Our midfield, Melanie Pavlidis, Khamilah Lamhaouar, Lexie Pevoraro, Angelica Eranovic, Christina Restivo, Casey Mangin and Brianna Messina, did a brilliant job helping out our powerful defense, Lucia Castellano, Danielle Gaspe, Katie Poppe and Jessica Iammetteo, while moving the ball up to our forward, Alicia "Speedy" Mercurio. Eden Glodstein and Khamilah Lamhaouar were terrific in goal. Excellent job girls -- you made us all proud and excited to be there!!!
N.H.P. Magic Cats 2 vs Sachem Tsuinomi 0 -
The 4th week into this season and the Magic Cats are on fire. With only one sub, missing Laura Carr, Amy Maxwell and Shannon Flynn the Magic Cats showed great soccer with Shannon Kearney who assisted both of our goals to both Stacey Wood and Jennifer Fox. Shannon K. stayed focused for the entire game even though she had just recieved some very sad news that her great uncle had just passed away. We dedicate this game to him!! Good offensive pressure from Ashely Minda on the forward line with relentless pressure from the mids, Megan Mccune,Nicole Contrada and Ali Nilsen kept the assault on S.T. non-stop.Of course a strong defense is what helps to complete that winning formula. Great job from our sweeper Ali Siciliano, fullbacks, Mary Insinga and Samantha Stavish who by the way both joined the Magic family over this past winter and have proven to be great assets to this team. Megan Favale proves to us all her great skills again, keeping goal for the Magic. Lastly, I would to give a special shout out to our stopper Kristen Flynn. As Coach Louie say's, this girls got moxy!! Great job and well done. **GO MAGIC**
Powercats 5 Levittown 0

Offense and midfield played like clock work with perfect passing led by Christina Falco, Erika Fulgenzi, Kaitlyn Hunt, and the goal scorers. The defensive wall stood tall with clutch plays made by Melissa Driscoll, Gabriella Labita, Christina Montoni, and Lianna Petruccio. Our goal was kept clean again by the fantastic play of Elizabeth Rennie who once again played like a champ. Special thanks to new goalie Lianna Petruccio who volunteered to take up goaltending duties near the end of the game and continued to keep the goal clean.

Manchester United vs. Newcastle
Manchester United played a great game with Newcastle today. Chris Ernest and Peter Gadze tirelessly worked together to score all of Manchester United's amazing goals, with a hat trick each. Their powerful playing was supported by midfielders Kenneth Choy, Ricky Schlueck and Aseer Amin, who constantly kept the pressure on. Clearing the ball out numerous times, Mark Gimelstein and Eric Bialczak did a nice job on defense. Ricky and Eric put in great effort as goalkeepers. The whole team of Manchester United played a fierce game till the end. We missed you, Andrew and Jonathan! Newcastle played with out half their team today. Mark R. scored four goals. A blast from a kick off to the goal went in on a bobble by the goalie. Mark also received a cross from Chris K. for a goal. Tim Chan used his speed to run down the offense as sweeper. Bryan and Domenico came up big clearing the ball in the backfield. Thank you Nick Perrone for helping at goalie and Katherine Kariotis for pushing players at midfield.
Arsenal vs. Everton
Team Arsenal came up with another brilliant effort in a 4-3 victory over Everton. Arsenal jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Nick Perrone and a masterful indirect set play by Joe Carbone. Everton was not to be denied and put up a furious come back. Jonathan Gualotuna, Gabriel Skugor and John Tripptree were able to keep the ball in the Everton end for a 3-1 halftime lead. In the second half Kyle Tripptree. Matt Perno and Joe Carbone played wonderful defense. Matt took some nice runs up the side line. Mike Marini kept Everton off balance with great saves and booming punts. Joe Carbone put in the winner from about twenty five yards out with a rocket to the upper right corner. Great team effort. The boys put in a hard practice session and it showed on the field. Everton found itself down three goals to a formidable opponent. Battling back in true Everton fashion, the boys rallied making a game of it. Match on! Once again Troy Driscoll and Chris Rocco shared keeper responsibilities. A hard fought effort from all including Dan Arkin, Mike Aronov, Angelo Mancini, Thomas Flower, and Kevin Birkdale. Goals scored by Jason Papadopoulos (2) and Daniel Lorandini.
