David Goodsell is the only candidate running for the seat vacated by Edward Kennedy. In summing up why he wants to run for Herricks School Board he said: "I believe one of the most important tasks to be undertaken by any community is to educate their children. Herricks is fortunate to have parents, teachers, administrators and students who are committed to the ideals of quality education. I want to carry on the tradition of educational excellence in Herricks by exploring ways to continuing the improvement of the quality of the school experience while remaining mindful of financial demands all taxpayers face today.

Street Dedicated to The Memory of Ronald P. Kloepfer
In an impressive, solemn ceremony on South 9th Street, New Hyde Park, the street was dedicated to the memory of Ronald P. Kloepfer, a member of the New York City Police Department Emergency Service Unit, who died during the September 11 terrorist attack while trying to help others.

Once again this past Saturday, Merillon's future Baseball Hall of Famers were on display this weekend. The hitting and fielding of this group is are really showing improvement week after week. The kids are excelling at a super pace while learning the fundamentals of this great game of ours. Parents and coaches are very proud of this group. Keep up the good work!
