On a great day for soccer, the turnout was outstanding and the excitement was electric. Scoring was the name of the game as goals were going in at a record pace. The junior match was evenly balanced with Ryan McCurry and Joshua Niewierowski leading the blue team with 3 goals each. Mike Antonoff rounded out the scoring with 2 more tallies. However, the red team was not to be outdone as they had 4 individual scorers. Joe Allocco had a "hat trick", while Paul Niewierowski and Samantha Powell each added 2 goals. Robbie Valli finished things off with one more goal. The senior game was just as exciting with a ton of goals. Andrew Abberton was unstoppable with 5 goals for the blue team. Matt Saraiva pitched in with 2 more rockets that almost ripped holes in the net. Stefani Egre was outstanding for the red team with 4 goals. Three separate players added one goal each to knot the game at 7-7. Alex Schneider, Eugene Simmons and one team goal closed out one of the most offensively productive days ever. Kerri Abberton, heading to her prom later in the day, still managed to find some time to lead our practice. Great job. Thanks to all the new coaches who have been volunteering each week. We have been able to "buddy" up all our athletes. Rich Bletsch, Director

The ThunderCats and the Little Princesses played another tough and competitive soccer game on Sunday. Both teams played their hearts out and had a lot of fun. The offense did a great job this week by pressing the ball into our offensive end for a lot of scoring opportunities. Camille Bangug, Jillian Clark, and Alana Leahy all played an excellent offensive game. The offense was backed up by our equally strong defense. The ThunderCats brick wall defense was fortified by the strong play of Emily Park, Allison Schillinger, and Bridgette Stacom. Backing up our strong defense were our 2 goaltenders who both turned in an outstanding effort this week. Eva Chan and Daniella Fusaro both played great in goal for the ThunderCats. We missed Emily Smith who was out sick, hopefully she'll be back for next week. Great job to all the girls. Keep up the good work soccer players!

Soccer Power 4 Soccer Tigers 0 - On this overcast, dreary Sunday afternoon, the Soccer Power girls hustled all day with a "never give up" attitude. The offense started off with the great passing of Sabrina Delgiorno and Samantha Chauzzi. The power was provided by Hannah Zeitlin as she scored 2 goals, always finding her way in front of our opponent's net. The 2nd goal was scored by the great teamwork of the Hand sisters! Rachel Hand dribbled fast down the right sideline sending a perfect centering pass to Allison Hand who took it to the net and rifled one on for a score. Dena Cavallaro scored our 3rd goal as she sat in the defense zone and with great anticipation intercepted a pass and using her tremendous speed and skills went coast to coast finishing with a rocket to the back of the net. The story of the day was our goaltending and defense. The stone wall teamwork of Nicole Clarke and Adriana Brijujlio defended our goal flawlessly. The defense was smothering as Dena Cavallaro led the charge accompanied by her posse of Regina Siciliano, Caroline Weinberg, Allison Hand and Rachel Hand. Awesome teamwork girls .... Lady Stormcats 1 Top Cats 3 - Another terrific game by the Stormcats who took awhile for the engine to get warmed up but then just ran out of time, against an awesome Top Cat team. All in all, some great all around play. Erica Sousa was again a one man gang who besides shoring down the defense sent in a second-half blast for our lone goal. Amanda Cavallaro was precise in her passes and placed a beautiful shot just outside the post, just missing a goal.! Jennifer McHale had another excellent day on the field and in the Keeper spot along with Maria Decrescenzo who made some super saves. Gina Marrano and Enza DeCrescenzo continued to work well today setting up our counter-attacks to Alicia Brewer and April Leong at their wing positions. Well done girls!
Top Cats vs. Lady Stormcats - Congratulations Top Cats! What an exciting win against the strong Lady Stormcats. It was a very strong defensive half by the two teams. With Alexis S., Rashni A. on defense and Jennifer H in goal, the Top Cats held the Lady Stormcats scoreless in the first half. While Jillian S., Joanna S., Joanna M. played offense and Gabriella T. midfield we were able to score 2 goals by Gabriella T. We had some great help with Daniella C. and Justina M. filling in on all positions. The second half was played hard by everyone. Some great defense plays resulted in a strong goal by Erica for the Stormcats and one more goal for Gabriella T. Thanks Jennifer M. for some second half goal tending. Great going Top Cats. We are all proud of you!
The Thunder Cats vs. The Super Chargers - The Super Chargers came out strong, putting a lot of pressure on the Thunder Cats Goal keeper. The Keeper was up to the task stopping wave after wave of attacks. (I counted 9 saves in the first 10 minutes of the game.) However the Chargers were first to get on the board with a outstanding pass from Angelina Gambino to Emma Innella who buried the ball into the back of the net. Game Capt.and 1st Star of the game Amanda Nugent, held The Thunder Cats scoreless in the 1st half. When the second half began the roles were reversed with The Thunder Cats pressuring the Chargers goal. Some timely stops in goal by game Co-Capt. Rachel Krieger (5 Saves) and defensive support by Jessica Licari, Emma Innella, Amanda Nugent, Dana Davis and Angelina Gambino held the Thunder Cats to one
goal, tying the game at 1-1. The game went back and forth with some great
mid-field play by Rachel Krieger, Jenna Bacchus, Emily Reilly and Dana Davis. Thank you to Emily Reilly who also filled in at goal in the 2nd half making 2 big saves. The whistle blew with the game ending in a 1-1 tie. Good game girls and congratulations to Coach Roger Martinez and his Thunder Cats on a well played game.
Lady Tigers 3 Corner Kickers 2 - This was one of the most enjoyable played game watched by both sets of parents on Sunday. This game went down to the wire. All credit must go to the Corner Kickers who played one heck of a game. For the Lady Tigers this was a team performance. There were three cracking goals scored by Julianne (2) and girl of the hour Erin (1). The goalkeepers in Marissa and Gianna were superb. The defense in Emma and Ashley just stopped everything that came their way. The midfield in Alexandria, Megan and Brianna just ran their little hearts out all day. Great team performance girls
Coco Girls 3 Shooting Stars 5 - On a chilly Center Street field the Coco Girls and Shooting Stars served up an entertaining game of soccer to those in attendance. This game was a first in all of soccer history, in that two ducks (mother and daughter) made their debut in a competitive game. Although they were a little short on soccer technique and their fitness levels needed work, they displayed some nice moves, giving their all, but ultimately having no influence on the game's outcome. An historic occasion indeed. The Shooting Stars fielded a strong defense that gave away little to the Coco Girls until the second half. In goal we had strong performances by Christie and Andrea who threw themselves at everything making some fine saves. In defense we had strong outings from Jennifer, Emily G. and Lisa. These girls played well together holding their positions and covering for each other. In midfield Emily R. and Ailish ran their hearts out with Ailish causing the opposition many headaches and notching two fine goals. In offense Nicole played well today and crashed a fine goal into the net for her first of the season. Good game girls.

Everton vs. Manchester United
Everton quickly found themselves down 3 nil to a hard pressing Manchester United. Everton fired back by dominating play through the balance of the half. Everton got on the board with a brilliant free kick effort from Daniel Lorandini off the touch of Angelo Mancini. The second goal nearly netted by Thomas Flower hit off the post, Everton unable to put in the rebound. The second half brought pressure from the Everton side with Kevin Birkdale banging home our second. With continued pressure Everton persisted however unable to find the equalizer. Tough game played by all including Dan Arkin, Troy Driscoll, Jason Papadopoulos, Mike Aranov and Chris Rocco. Manchester United played a fierce game against Everton. The star of the game was, without a doubt, goalkeeper Jonathan Ptacek. His tremendous, diving saves were simply spectacular. The offensive attack was led by Peter Gadze and Chris Ernest. They took countless shots and scored quite a few goals with the help of the midfield. Midfielders Kenneth Choy, Aseer Amin and Ricky Schlueck kept the pressure on and were all over the field, helping out the defense and passing the ball up to the forwards. Mark Gimelstein, Eric Bialczak, and Andrew Yu were solid on defense and blocked many shots. Overall, great game by all of Manchester United!
Blackburn vs. Arsenal
Team Arsenal jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the blink of an eye. Joe Carbone showed some great effort in getting to early goals with help from Gabriel Skugor and Jonathan Gualotuna. Kyle Tripptree chipped one in also. The mighty Blackburn came right back and tied things up.That's when our great goalkeeper, Mike Marini stepped in and made an unbelievable save. That got things started. Matt Perno took the ball upfield to Nick Perrone for the one timer and the lead. Joe Carbone added his hat-trick off of Nick's corner kick. John Tripptree and Alex Montoni kept up tremendous pressure and their work led to opportunities for Arsenal. A very well played game, perfect passing, denying defense and great goalkeeping. Keep up the team effort.
