Bierwirth: Zarb Commission Proposal a Disaster for Herricks
Herricks Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jack Bierwirth explained, at the last school board meeting, that there have been many lawsuits filed by school districts over the years against New York State and its formula for school funding. In the past the school districts have lost, but, recently, the New York City schools lawsuit was successful.

New Hyde Park to Phase Out Village Library
At a recent meeting of the New Hyde Park Village Library Board they voted unanimously to phase out the library to coordinate with the opening of the new library proposed on Lakeville Road. The new library will be run by the Hillside Library Board and the New Hyde Park School District and will be in the site of the old Kismet Temple, 155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park.

Merillon Baseball Update
The superstars of the future. Even though it was cold and damp we had a full house at the Merillon Complex Saturday with 5 and 6 year old instructional players ready to "play two." There are 8 teams (101 players) all ready to learn the fundamentals of baseball and have a lot of fun doing it. Great job by all the new coaches who have come aboard to help out. We're off to a great season.

New Hyde Park Wildcats Roundup
Opening day's weather was a little less than perfect with clouds and overcast skies but the enthusiasm of the players and coaches more than made up for it. A couple of new players added some spark and the returning veterans were back in midseason form.
