Goodsell to Run for Herricks School Board
David Goodsell has announced his intention to run for the position of Trustee of the Herricks Union Free School District presently held by Edward Kennedy in the election scheduled for May 18. Mr. Goodsell, a resident of Herricks for 23 years, stated, "Property taxes have created difficulties for Herricks residents and I believe that tough choices lie ahead. We as a community must carefully balance the needs of our children with the burdens placed by ever-increasing taxes at all levels. I believe that my experience can assist in carefully striking the necessary balance to ensure that Herricks remains a pre-eminent school district without overburdening its taxpayers," he stated.

Herricks Students Complain About Starting Time/Physical Education
The last Herricks School Board meeting was broken down into three parts. The first was the beginning of the regular meeting, at 6:30 p.m. and at that time the board tried to get as much of the regular portion of the meeting covered as possible.

New Hyde Park Girls U-7 at Franklin Square Tournament
New Hyde Park Wildcats U-7 Girls take 1st place at Franklin Square Indoor Tournament on Saturday, January 24th. The girls played five games giving up only one goal all day finishing 3-1-1. Ciara Lynch excelled as goalie with three shutouts, as Lisa Pellegrino and Keeley McGrath played outstanding defense all day. Both Brittany Rodgers and Martha Keller played superb offense leading the way with 2 goals each. Devin Kilcullen, Maggie McHale and Kiera Ward provided excellent assistance in both offense and defense completing this winning combination. Great fun was had by all! Way to Go Girls! Keep up the teamwork and good luck in your next tournament. A special thanks to Franklin Square Soccer Club and to the all the parents who made this great day possible!

NHP Lady Tigers U-8 Girls Tournament at Island Trees
Under the direction of their Coach, Ed Jozkowski, the girls played five 10 minute games and had a great time! Each game was exciting from start to finish and the goalies, Celeste Lyons and Taylor Ross were dynamite! The Lady Tigers sent many shots toward their opponents' nets and each girl played awesome! Stephanie Jozkowski, Gina Timpano, Dena Cavallaro, Maggie Murname, Ariana Bruschi, Madison Cascio, Taylor Ross and Celeste Lyons played outstanding and sent many shots to their opponents' nets using their fancy footwork and soccer skills. The defenders were quick to send away their opponent's shots. The three goals that were scored today were made by Dena Cavallaro, Madison Cascio and Gina Timpano. Thanks again to all the girls for a job well done and we are so proud of all of you!
