New Hyde Park Village Receives Ticket Complaints
A resident of the Village of New Hyde Park was present at the last meeting to complain to Mayor Daniel Petruccio that he received a ticket for parking at the station. He said the place where he parked was not marked and he assumed he could park there. He wanted to know what could be done, since no parking signs had been posted.
Aurora Temple Civilian Patrol Founder Dies
Aurora M. (Armento) Temple, 94-years-old, died on Jan. 8, at St. Patrick's Manor in Farmingham, MA. She was the wife of the late John L. Temple who died in June of 1985. She was born in New York City, New York, daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Zasa) Armento and was a longtime resident of New Hyde Park, New York.
Knights of Columbus to Hold Free Throw Contest
On Jan. 24 between 9:30 a.m. and noon at the Notre Dame School gym, 45 Mayfair Road, New Hyde Park, all boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the New Hyde Park Knights of Columbus Free Throw (basketball) championship. Winners will progress through local, district, and state competition. International champions are announced by the K of C International Headquarters based on scores from the state level competitions. Last year more than 247,000 sharpshooters participated in over 4,000 local competitions.
New Hyde Park Baseball Alumni Scholarships
The last two years at New Hyde Park High School Baseball program has had players receive athletic and academic baseball scholarships. Rinaldo Fable, a 2002 graduate, received a full tuition scholarship to a Division 1 program New York Institute of Technology. Rinaldo is currently a sophomore and at 6'2", 225 lbs., has developed into a fine college pitcher.
