  • News: Herricks School District to Create Task Force to Study Redistricting

    The Herricks School Board voted to form a Task Force to research and design new attendance zones. The committee will consist of three parents or guardians from each elementary school; one parent or guardian from the site based team, one parent or guardian from PTA officers and one parent or guardian from parent guardian body at large, a Herricks Teacher Association representative, Herricks Superintendent Dr. Jack Bierwirth or Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ronald Barnes and the three elementary principals.     Although the new state-of-the-art New Hyde Park Fire Department ambulance has been in operation for almost three months, last Sunday in the parking lot behind the New Hyde Park Fire House, the new ambulance was formally christened. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Merillon Little League Scores

    On a beautiful fall day the Athletics faced the mighty Brewers for the second time this season. The Athletics played very well and the offense was powered by the bats of Matthew Satoris, Vinny Patrey and Daniel Doreste each with three hits. Also contributing on offense were Michael Barry, Liam Quinn and Justin Roth each with two hits. The defense was anchored by James Cotumaccio, Joseph Tricarico and Landon Phillips, all flashing some leather, and behind the plate, was the solid catching of Antonio Prunella.   • Sports: New Hyde/Park Wildcats Roundup

    Message from the President: Good luck to all Wildcat teams over the Columbus Day Weekend who are entered into tournaments. The Wildcats are the host team for the North Hempstead Cup Travel team Tournament held over this weekend. Come on out to Tully Park to support the teams. Games will be played from Friday nite on thru Sunday nite. Other venues are in Herricks, Port Washington, Mitchell Field and Harbor Links. Intramural tournament teams will be participating out at Hecksher State Park in East Islip Saturday and Sunday. FULL STORY
