The Herricks Homecoming festivities culminated last Saturday on a beautiful, but hot and rather humid day. The theme "Decades of Excellence" was emphasized by the wonderful floats created by each high school class. Because homecoming was so very early in the season the students were given the theme in May, close to the end of the school year, and could then work on it during the summer months and the results were awesome. In making the announcement Deputy Mayor Robert Lofaro who took over the meeting for Mayor Daniel Petruccio, said, "We have been trying to get her to stay since we have received her letter. • Sports: New Hyde Park Wildcats Roundup

Those little prayers I said last week about Hurricane Isabel were answered and we got thru it without any complications. With Week 3 behind us, we have a weekend off for Religious observance. Week 4 of games will be Sat Oct 4th and Sun. Oct 5th. We opened up Manor Oaks field for Intramural play this past weekend for the U-8 and U-9 Divisions. A BIG THANKS to Frank Gaspe and Ralf Brandenburg for giving of their time to get that field lined and ready to play. Lets remember to pick up after ourselves, and to adhere to "rules" for using the school grounds...."No Dogs Allowed" " Smoking is prohibited on school grounds" "Park in designated areas only".......Center Street school grounds(Rear field) continues to go UNUSED!!! ....Permits were issued for its usage, but continue to go unused.....We are a Club of close to 1400 children, 110 teams and to have fields going unused when they can be utilized continues to be baffling....Fund-raiser T-shirts have been ordered for the kids and we will have them for next weekend. Thanks and keep having fun with your kids!!! Dominic FULL STORY
