Little Jets - It was a great season for the Little Jets in spite of all the rain. Many goals were scored by them, leading the scoring were Antonio Prunella, Nick Aquino, Leah Bodh, and James Cotumaccio. Contributing to a great season were Jillian Clark, Thomas Cotumaccio, Daniel Doreste, Jeremy Elkashash and Dimitri Georgopalis. The defense was anchored by Isabel Ryan, Rohan Gulati, Amand Negretti, Dennis Boyle, Rasul Rahman, and Tara Strokin. The coaching staff would like to thank all the kids and their parents for a great time. We are looking forward to next season. Let's go Little Jets.

Lil Strikers - The Lil Strikers had a great season playing strong and skillful like their older brothers and sisters. The leading ladies played like pros with amazing offensive and defensive moves by Alyssa Arcoleo, Hannah Arkin, Amanda Casey, Kyra Casey, Bianca Gadze and Jillian Minda. They really gave these boys a run for their money. Just as amazing and skillful were our boys, pressuring the goal the entire time was Kyle Castro, Nicholas DiMaria, Matty Lorandini, Ibuki Nakamura, Mark Niewierowski and Brendan Nolty. Thanks for putting up with the weather and all the support. You are a great group of young players that will continue to grow and play fantastic. Give your parents a hug for driving you each week. See you in the fall, Coach Eric.

TOPS SOCCER

On a soggy morning, we traveled to Plainview/Old Bethpage for our annual barbecue and tournament at the LIJSL Soccer Park. Decimated because of the inclement weather, a conflict with a baseball tournament and fighting sicknesses, our players persevered and we were well represented in the junior and intermediate divisions. Our junior athletes merged into a joint team to strut their stuff. Nicholas Pusateri was a star in goal, Julius Sum provided terrific all-around play and Chris Correale rose to the occasion with one of the few goals in the game and a great overall display of offense.

In the intermediate game we combined with Terryville to put out a well-balanced team. Ending the day at .500, the players had a super mix of offense, defense and outstanding goal keeping. Stefani Egre led the team with 3 goals. Andrew Abberton added another 2 goals. Eugene Simmons, despite losing a tooth during the day, managed a tally for the squad. Matt Saraiva and Giovanni Graciela took over the defense and played great positional soccer frustrating the opposition time and again with great marking and booming passes.

The day ended with the annual cookout, which was quickly devoured. Each player also received a trophy and a special gift of a backpack, which contained shin guards, cones and a soccer ball!

Special thanks to our coaches who have worked all season to make the entire experience so rewarding for our players. Our young assistants Kerry Abberton, Jenny Bletsch, Maiken Bursig, Megan Griffing, Greg Walunas, Jason Stern and Peter Zimmerman came out to make it a super day. And last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to my 'senior' coaches, Mary Jo Bursig, Rich Bursig and Brian Evers who are always there to help out and lend their support.

Next week we're back to Center Street and then we wind up the season with our greatly anticipated parents vs. the players match. Things are really starting to get exciting as the parents have been conducting secret practices, thinking they'll be prepared for this grueling match. We'll have to wait and see.

Princesses

The Princesses concluded their season this week with the Cabbage Patch Mini-tournament. The girls displayed their teamwork and individual skills. Despite the nasty rainy weather the Princesses played with great enthusiasm. Goal scoring was the flavor of the day with Brittany Willoughby, Madison Casio and Morgan Roth all hitting the back of the net. Ashley Willoughby and Jesmine Romanellli both had many great scoring chances. Jaclyn Judge, Jennifer Gerbe and Ariana Bruschi all played tremendous in goal. Marisa Bartos, Nicoletta Bouzos and Sydney Jacoby were superb playing both ends of the field. Thank you Princess Girls for a great season and don't forget the Pizza party to follow!!

Soccer Power

Once again the weather was lousy but a lot of fun was had by all the soccer power girls and their families! The entire soccer power team played tremendously and showed the crowd that we are a very talented team. Today was the day that Francesca Boccia scored her very first goal of the season ... boy oh boy was it awesome to watch. Once again Sabrina Posadas, Ellen Carnero and Dena Cavallaro used their superb soccer skills to send their shots soaring into their opponents' nets. Alana Cohen and Karina Yu did an outstanding offensive job in all the games today and Monica Benitez, Allana Bayarin were dynamite on defense protecting their goal. We missed ya Geena Fornataro and Kelly Ng today who also played fabulously all season long. Winning first place today was a total team effort because of your talent and incredible enthusiasm which you shared with one another on the field. Thank you to all the soccer power stars and their families for a great soccer season!!!!!!! Go SOCCER POWER! See everyone at the end of the season party. Coach Rich.
