I am writing to you as a very concerned parent of a first grader
starting in the fall. I am absolutely appalled at the fact that such a
prestigious school district as Herricks has such a poor bus requirement with
mileage limitations.
I would like to know what the school is doing
to promote the proposition regarding reduction of mileage for school
busing so that it gets the attention and votes in order to change this at the school budget revote. Better yet, what can I do to help out in getting the word out, that this is a very different world today, and our children's safety needs to come first.
There also seems to be absolutely no regard for working parents in this school district, or is everyone assumed to be rich and can have their nannies take their kids to and from school?
We as a young and educated community, need to stop letting the seniors of the community dictate our schooling requirements and needs, or have we forgotten that education is everything. Maybe Florida isn't such a bad idea for all these people, if they can't handle the school taxes.
As a Herricks school district community member, I have never received anything in the mail regarding this proposition. Therefore how do we expect the rest of the community to know what is going on in our schools? Let's all come together and continue to make Herricks one of best schools by approving the school budget at the revote and improving the busing situation for all our children.
Remember we were all young once ... and education and safety is Number One.
