Cardiologist Kholwadwala Performs Non-Invasive Heart Surgery
A new procedure using The Amplatzer Septal Occluder, replaces the need for open-heart surgery to close a hole in the heart. The new procedure, was just approved by the Food and Drug Administration in December of 2001 and it enables the patient to return home after a two-hour procedure and overnight stay.

At the last Herricks School Board meeting, that was billed to be a celebration of the first year in office of Herricks Superintendent Dr. Jack Bierwirth, instead spent time discussing a rather vague "hit" list composed by two boys at the middle school.

Merillon Little League Baseball
On Saturday, May 4, the Hand Rolled Bagels Tigers and Capell & Vishnik Braves had a great game. The Tigers had great hitting by Matthew Nilsson, George Papadopoulos, Kimon Papadopoulos, Vincent Patrey, Matthew Theodoropoulos and Skyler Chin and fantastic fielding by Nicholas Artusa, Mitchel Calandra, Matthew Esposito, Thomas Fitzgerald, Thomas Kemmet and Michael Kemmet. The Braves were equal to the task, Tommy Labruna, Michael Lopez, Daniel Orlik, Brennan Scanlon, Nicholas Winkhart and Marc Yuricic were making all the plays in the field, while Haddi Ahmad, Chris Cataldo, Jonathan Cioffi, Evan Clark, Brandon Fernandez and Brandon Ianiro showed their hitting skills. A special thanks to all the parents who helped out.
