At the first in a series of budget meetings, Herricks School Board Superintendent Dr. Jack Bierwirth presented the Herricks School Board and the community with its proposed budget for 2002/2003. At the outset of the New Hyde Park/Garden City Park school board meeting students from Hillside Grade School Music Teacher Sharon Presenti's fifth grade class presented a program of music, dance and song. Hillside Grade School Principal, in introducing the program, called it, "The Sights and Sounds of Hillside Grade School."
