Celebration of Life for Firefighter Michael F. Lynch - 'A Born Leader'
On Nov. 24, over 2,000 family, friends, firefighters and the New Hyde Park community gathered at Notre Dame R.C. Church to pay an emotional tribute to FDNY Firefighter Michael F. Lynch. Firefighter Lynch (age 33), a NHP resident as are many family members, was one of the 343 FDNY firefighters who heroically lost their lives in the World Trade Center disaster on Sept. 11.

East Hills AHRC Receives Holiday Visit from State Bank and Friends
State Bank of Long Island troubadours, under the direction of Senior Vice President Robert Valli, once again took song sheets in hand and held a holiday sing-a-long at the East Hills AHRC facility. This time the group had on-board many Town of North Hempstead officials including: Town Clerk Michele Schimmel, Councilpersons Angelo Ferrara, Doreen Banks and Anthony D'Urso along with Pat Tobin who has been with the State Bank group since its inception about 16 years ago. State Bank was represented by the voices of Hazel McCord, Michael Locorriere, Senior Vice President Tom Arnone, Evan Maskowitz and Laura Schiavone.

Herricks High School was chosen to take part in a statewide assessment project under the direction of the New York State Education Department.

Hakimi/Teitelbaum Honored
Seniors, Justina Hakimi and Jeffrey Teitelbaum were honored as the Outstanding Physical Physical Education Students from Herricks High School. Two students were selected from every high school in Nassau County and honored at a dinner sponsored by the Nassau Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
