Lou Tuortu, athletic director, has announced that 15 swimmers from New Hyde Park Memorial High School are members of a Sewanhaka Central High School District Swim Team that won Nassau County Conference Championship.

The District Swim Team was undefeated for the entire season!

When asked about the value of being a swim team member, Patty Verdino said, "It is a great way to make new friends and improve your swimming. We now feel like 'family.'

Catherine Delaney said, "We have great coaches! We've done a lot of hard work and had a good time."

Following the Nassau County Conference Championship, four New Hyde Park swimmers participated in New York State Finals: Casey Axelsen, Nicole Fulgieri, Leigh Ann Plack and Helen Yeung.

The Sewanahaka Central High School District Swim Team is coached by Mrs. Lyon (Elmont Memorial) and Mr. Neilson (Carey).
